Highlights

  • Historic yacht with rich maritime history
  • Intimate cruise with only 8 passengers
  • Fresh Alaskan meals created from local ingredients
  • Explore stunning fjords, beautiful coves, and remote inlets

The MV Westward yacht offers exciting cruises to Alaska from May through September. Designed by the renowned naval architect L.E. 'Ted' Geary, and since her launch in 1924, her maritime history has been well documented. She is now listed with the US National Register of Historic Places. The MV Westward caters to just 8 passengers in 4 comfortable cabins, offering a more intimate cruise due to the few guests. Each of the cabins is fitted with a double and single bunk, settee, and en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, sink, and portholes that open to the sea air. Social areas include the main indoor salon and covered back deck. The back deck area is a perfect space to enjoy al-fresco dining or spectacular views whilst recounting the day's adventures. Meals aboard the Westward are an important part of the journey, and meals are created from fresh Alaskan ingredients; as many organic and unprocessed products as possible are used to create delicious, wholesome meals.

There is no AC aboard the Westward, but it is not needed. The ship is designed so that the cool night air flows freely, and you get a good night's sleep with only the sound of breathing whales and not a noisy generator.

Alaskan cruises aboard the MV Westward have been carefully planned over decades of local experience by the dedicated and passionate crew. The aim is to provide guests with the best of South East Alaska, and itineraries have been refined so that you can explore the best of the stunning fjords, beautiful coves, and remote inlets with no travel at night needed. Cruises to Alaska include visits to the Inside Passage, a 1000-mile saltwater channel home to thousands of islands, and itineraries exploring SE Alaska's Western Passages, where you can spot bears along the coastline, talk with locals, and learn their history.

Whatever trip you choose, your Alaskan cruise aboard the MV Westward will surely be remembered. Book online today to reserve your space.

The MV Westward also visits Mexico from December - April.

A special treasure

This boat is nearly 100 years old and is in pristine condition. It goes where the big cruise ships cannot. The crew has the “hospitality gene,” works incredibly hard yet always makes guests feel welcome, valued, and capable. The food is spectacularly good. There is even a rooftop garden where salad greens and fresh herbs are harvested daily. Oh yes, the trip itself — bald eagles, whales, bears, glaciers, icebergs, and more — was wonderful.
