Highly recommended Komodo trip in June-July
I did a "Bali-Komodo-Bali" liveaboard with Mermaid I from 23rd June to 2nd July and it was great. The staff looks after you with maximum care: they provide fresh towels after every dive, they offer drinks after every dive, they clean your suit after every dive, they measure the Nitrox for you, they clean the rooms every day, they serve you in the restaurant. The boat is kept nice and clean, the food is good quality and quantity. In terms of dives: we saw the whales sharks in the Saleh Bay, mantas in South Komodo, some reef sharks, one eagle ray and plenty of beautiful corals. There are a lot of dives dedicated to "macro" marine life and be ready to have fun with some drift dives also. In summary: Komodo will offer literally a bit of everything that a diver can wish.

Flawless liveaboard in pristine Raja Ampat
From start to finish, this was an extraordinary experience! 29 dives on pristine dive sites with unparalleled marine life diversity. I had the great pleasure of being assigned resident videographer Marcelo as my dive guide. His passion and knowledge of all things great and small in the ocean really enhanced my experience and raised my game as a diver and UW photographer. I dived with the other guides as well and they were all exceptional. During the 8 days of diving we encountered all kinds of macro life imaginable, along with manta rays, sharks, wobbegongs, enormous schools of barracudas and so on. Diving in the mangroves was a definite highlight. Boat operation is flawless, with an exceptionally friendly crew going the extra mile to ensure a great dive experience, such as dry towels and hot drinks after dives. Very much appreciated. A special shoutout to the cooks onboard who prepared plentiful and varied meals and snacks which were delicious regardless if it was Asian or Western food. The boat itself is in very good condition and the cabins are very comfortable. All in all, I had an awesome experience onboard Mermaid I and I cannot wait to return to explore other parts of Indonesia.

Verry clean boat! Had a conscientious trip leader who always coordinated with other boats dive schedule at sites. Definitely appreciated the long 70+ min dive times. Mermaid 1 for lots of fun!
Knock, knock...”morning! dive briefing” shouts sweet divemaster Rebecca at our cabin door. We eagerly assemble for continental breakfast & PowerPoint presentation of our next dive site. Cruise director, Joss, talks about what we might see on this dive...no promises, but wow Raja Ampat delivers! Giant mantas, crocodile fish, walking shark, swirling schools of barracuda, massive bumphead parrotfish & striped sweetlips, crazy changing-color cuttlefish, turtles, octopus, wobbegong sharks and much more! We’re on the safety stop of the 1st dive of the day, my computer says it’s only 8:15a and a full breakfast will be ready after a hot shower on deck. If your hair is dry...it’s time to dive, if your hair is wet...it’s time to eat & repeat. The night dives were full of action & our divemaster, Imam, was skilled at finding the unusual critters! Returning to the boat, stewardess, Destry, serves us hot chocolate with a smile. We had 29 amazing dives on our nine night cruise. The helpful Mermaid crew is upbeat, professional & the small ship is very comfortable. Master cabin was worth the upgrade, but deluxe cabins looked fine too. Fun excursion to lookout point to view several islands was worth the climb. We highly recommend the Mermaid 1 ship and look forward to another liveaboard trip with them.

Awesome diving in Raja Ampat with great crew
Really awesome diving in Raja Ampat, lots of marine life, beautiful coral reefs, lots of mantas!! Crew is super attentive and friendly, very good service overall. Food was varied and tasty. Besides diving, we also went to a viewpoint, jellyfish lake, kayaking so had a great time overall and would highly recommend Mermaid I.

Absolutely Fabulous!
My daughter and I went on the Mermaid 1 for a 10 day trip to Komodo. Everyone involved was genuinely friendly, fun, helpful, informative, and hard working! The entire dive crew were awesome! Everyone was quick to help you with all the diving details - from getting ready (zipping wetsuits), locating gear, getting on the dingy (Helping get on and putting your fins on for you), getting into the dingy after the dive, and getting off the dingy (Unzipping, Cleaning your wetsuit and gear). The diving itself was obviously fantastic. The food was delicious! It was obvious that everyone genuinely wanted every guest to be happy and have the best time in all facets of the trip! I highly recommend!

Great diving in Komodo
Great diving in the Komodo area, the reefs are very healthy and there is a good abundance of fish, turles and reef sharks. The boat is very comfortable and the crew is smiling and kind. There is a very good local dive guide on board (Rama) and it was great diving with him. Food was usually very food. Great stable boat to dive this area where the waters can be rough.

A Truly Memorable Liveaboard Adventure
This was a fantastic first liveaboard experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to liveaboard diving. The dive team was engaging, attentive, highly qualified, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure everyone's comfort and safety. The entire crew shared the same positive attitude—from helping us gear up and assisting us in and out of the water, to the captain, dinghy crew, and deckhands always greeting everyone with smiles and a willingness to help. Their professionalism and enthusiasm really stood out throughout the trip. The food was excellent, with a great variety at every meal. There was always plenty to eat and drink, and the quality and selection remained impressive throughout the week. The land excursion to visit the local villages and explore the national park was a fun addition that complemented the diving nicely. For a liveaboard lasting over a week, the boat was comfortable and well suited to spending extended time onboard. The itinerary was well paced, with a great balance between diving, relaxing, and other activities. One experience that really demonstrated the crew's dedication happened when my dive computer malfunctioned at the very beginning of the trip. My dive guide, Mimi, took the time to replace the battery in an attempt to get it working again. Although that didn't solve the problem, the crew was able to rent me a dive computer onboard, allowing me to complete every dive without any disruption. I really appreciated how quickly and proactively they worked to solve the issue and make sure I didn't miss out. Overall, this was an outstanding liveaboard experience with excellent service, a professional and caring crew, great diving, delicious food, and exceptional value for money. I would happily recommend this liveaboard to anyone looking for a safe, enjoyable, and well-run diving adventure, and I wouldn't hesitate to join them again.

the best of Raja Ampat and Banda Sea
Overall I had a great time diving with Mermaid. The boat is really nice, double cabins really comfortable, aircond working great. The food selection was very good. Dive guides very professional and dive sites well selected. The only drawback for me were the 2 land excursions, which meant we did only 2 dives on these 2 days, plus the 2 the mug dives & macro in Ambon on the last day were not really good. So for me, we could have done instead 4 proper dives. But, again overall it was great experience.
