Wonderful experience, amazing crew that made us feel pampered and spoiled.
Mantas, abundant sea life, healthy corals, nice scenery everywhere, and the food was amazing everyday, to to extent of calling it gourmet. Mario runs a very good crew, everyone was friendly and seemed happy to be working on Moana. There are many options for liveboards out there, but going with Moana was the right choice for us, and will recommend it to others. Also the staff at liveaboard.com has been extremely helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. Thanks to all of you for answering our many, many questions, and for being so helpful! Olivia

Great diving, great boat and crew, good fun.
Being a step ahead of other boats such that the dive experience was second to none. For example, beat the crowds in at a site and were able to watch 3-4 mantas play for 45 mins with no crowd to scare them away.

Everything was well orchestrated and well done. It was such an awesome trip. Great diving where we saw cool marine life, fruit bats, the crew were very helpful, and the food was excellent.

Flawless experience aboard Moana
The diversity in Komodo must be seen to be believed. Moana is the perfect boat for the experience, because Mario and the crew leverage their 15+ years of experience diving locally to create an itinerary that perfectly combines the tides, currents, crowds, etc., making each dive spectacular. I'm planning to go back and do the trip again, aboard Moana.

AN ABSOLUTE 10 across the board! Boat, crew, diving - all amazing!
This is a liveaboard experience that is not to be missed. I had one of the best weeks of my life getting to know Mel, Marsi, Sarif, and the rest of the Moana crew, along with an amazing group of fellow divers. The attention to detail was astounding: from the daily cabin cleanings to the transport to/from the airport, to the AMAZING feasts that were served, I was blown away. I am already plotting when I can come back!! Moana was out of this world!

Everything was great. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. Mel and Lucas, and the entire crew were great. Food is delightful - no Bali belly to worry about here. The people, boat, diving, and islands were all fantastic. Nicely done would recommend.

fantastic diving, lovely crew, food and boat
The diving around Komodo is excellent - highly varied with at least one spectacular and unique site per day. Currents can be strong (though we went during a low-current period) so nervous divers may want to check on the moon-phase before booking. The crew are fantastic, including the (very professional and friendly) manager and lead dive-master Mario, the lovely on-deck servers and many more helping out behind the scenes. Food was amazingly good, with a main meal or tasty snack between every dive. The boat Moana is wooden and very pretty, with *loads* of space up on deck for the (max 10) guests to spread out on. Time between dives is so nice and relaxing, sitting reading and watching the many islands slide by. Sleeping up on deck at night was nice, with really clear stars one night. Cabins are very comfortable - quite small, but are all you need, and for the price (which is much less than some other boats serving the region) perfectly fine. Only two minor niggles - would prefer the other dive masters to be a little less "invasive" in poking some of the underwater critters (though it's a little hypocritical of me to say this, as my photos did benefit from that.....) and it might be good to be clearer up front that the Komodo dragon island visit is a little bit rubbish (we just saw a few dragons hanging around the ranger compound toilet......none out in the woods), but then we didn't go primarily for the dragons. Overall - fantastic crew/boat/diving/food, good value for money, and a wonderfully relaxing week.

Experienced Guides = excellent trip
The dive spots are amazing. Diving with some of the more experienced guides in the Komodo park. Moana dives exclusively in Komodo year round, which means they understand the dive sites, currents and tides that only years of experience diving the area brings. The boat is comfortable and well run. The pacing of the diving is great - we had the opportunity of up to 4 dives on a full day - which on a 6 day dive trip was about right. We also got to experience some of the Komodo National park - seeing the dragons, doing a sunset walk, spending time on a remote beach. Perfect liveaboard - dive and cruise.

Wonderful cruise around Komodo
The cruise was just perfect. Everything well organized, we dived in amazing spots (beautiful coral gardens, a lot of marine life, reef sharks, turtles, mantas, stingrays, snakes). The crew was extremely friendly and helpful, and very familiar with the region. In most of the spots we were alone, no other boats. Moana boat is very comfortable, with a lot of space to chill out. The food is delicious.

Fantastic diving, thriving reefs, amazing staff topped off with Komodo Dragons.
Unbelievable experience. The best liveaboard trip I have been on. The crew were brilliant, nothing was too much hassle. The diving was great, never seen so many fish , everything was bigger in Komodo, huge Napoleons. Getting to see the dragons on the walk at the end capped of an unforgettable trip.

Idyliic Diving on a Beautiful Boat
Excellent boat with great facilities and cabins. The food was second to none (international cruise boat standard) and all crew including the cruise director were friendly and helpful The diving had amazing visibility with all the bucket list items we wanted to see (mantas, sharks, sea crates); the list goes on. Couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend!

Best guides ever
Sightings on dives were amazing, ocean life from big to small. Some super fun drift dives too. We were assigned the guide Sarif, who was simply the most careful, experienced, thorough and thoughtful guide - especially for me as a new diver experiencing strong currents for the first time. Apart from knowing all the good spots to see mantas, baby sharks and such, he would always anticipate the currents, and clip me in with a reef hook even before I knew I needed it! Big kudos also to cruise director Mario for keeping us equal parts prepared with his briefings and regaled with his stories, and to Marcello and Marci with their guitar/singing on the last night. Bonus: really tasty food, with extra portions on hand if requested. Note - The boat is not “5* luxury” (and I don’t mean this in any way as a criticism - you get what you pay for, bearing in mind elevated Komodo prices compared with other regions), though everything is clean and well maintained (most importantly the vessel itself!). What I mean, your ensuite toilets will not have hot water although there is hot water on the main deck shower, you will not have fresh towels everyday, your cabin will be ‘cosy’ in size. But on balance, for Komodo, would definitely dive with Moana for the quality of the staff and guidance.

Unforgettable family
Beautifully designed boat with the most incredible staff that go out of their ways to make us feel at home — accommodated my very picky dietary request at every meal, endless desire to fly my drone, etc. And they’re simply the most charming and talented people. Needless to say Komodo islands were breathtaking. Diving was great — some of the healthiest and liveliest coral lives I’ve seen. And I had the best group of divers to share with. Also worth mentioning that the boat takes max 10 divers (we had 9) which is the perfect group size for socializing over 6 days while allowing all of us max attention from the crew (12 people)!

Comfortable trip
I can definitely recommend diving in Komodo. The crew may be able to adjust the diving itinerary and meals based on your preferences. If travelling solo, I would suggest checking ahead of time where all of the other guests are from. The boat caters to small groups so you can easily be the only English speaking guest on board!

Simply incredible
As soon as we boarded the Moana we knew we had made the right choice. The boat is a beautifully finished Phinisi with extremely comfortable rooms but above all, a huge outside space (more like an outside living room) which was perfect for relaxing either before or after the dives. This is an extremely 'intelligent' boat as the atmosphere is both relaxed and warm and Mario becomes part of the family whilst you are on board. Mario's experience of the waters off Komodo and knowledge of both dive sites and currents was second to none as we were always dropped in at the right place, at the right time and with a good knowledge of the dive site after an extremely comprehensive briefing before each dive. The crew on this boat is a happy one and one can often hear their laughter throughout the day whilst they go about their daily duties and the dive equipment was always perfectly set up and on time for our next underwater adventure. Both my wife and I prefer sail boats and Moana is an extremely comfortable and stable boat on the water. If you prefer Motor boats then this boat might make you change your mind. Before choosing the Moana I had done a lot of research and chose her because of her experience in the Komodo waters, the long standing crew members (most of which have been on this boat for 6-8 years at least which is always a good sign) and of course for the good food reviews. All of this turned out to be true and so this is why we shall be returning on Moana with a larger group of friends in the not so distant future, perhaps to explore the Southern side of the park. A huge thank you to the Moana crew and of course to Mario for making our trip a memorable one and see you soon! I would also like to mention that liveaboard.com have been brilliant and were always available for any questions that we had pre-trip, helping us every step of the way from when we initially booked to when we disembarked. Unforgettable experience on the best looking boat in Komodo
Mario did an incredible job navigating the crazy weather that we experienced and made sure that we didn’t miss a dive. The crew were incredible and the meals were always a warm welcome after each dive. The guides knew each site like the back of their hand and were great to dive with. The boat itself is a thing of beauty and very well equipped for all kinds of divers.

One of the best LOB experience in Indonesia
Mario and the crew were very friendly and knowledgeable on the dive sites in Komodo. Rudi the dive master was very experienced in the underwater topography of the dive sites, ensuring that we were safe when the currents got to strong to handle. Marsi always ensured we had food and drinks after we our dives. Every meal was a culinary surprise thanks to the creativity and ingenuity of Chef Jemi. Satisfied belly = Happy diver! Moana is a clean and well managed boat with conscious effort to ensure minimal impact to the fragile ocean environment under the Mario’s wise management. Highly recommend this LOB to explore Komodo ◡̈
