Rembrandt van Rijn, Arctic
- from US$ 290 / day
The S/V Rembrandt van Rijn has had a lively past, originally built early last century as a herring lugger, she was then rebuilt to sail the Netherlands and Galapagos in the 1990's. In 2011 she underwent a complete refurbishment, and now offers exciting voyages to the Arctic from May to October each year. The bow of the 3-masted S/V Rembrandt van Rijn has been re-enforced to make it ice class and suitable for the Greenlandic waters. She caters to just 33 passengers in 16 cabins. Each of the cabins has private toilet and shower facilities and there is a choice of twin or triple cabins. Meals are served buffet style in the spacious dining area. Social areas also include the separate bar and reading area. The sv Rembrandt van Rijn offers expansive deck space, perfect for taking in the stunning views or catching a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis and star gazing.
The experienced crew of 12, which includes 2 tour guides, are on-hand to help you create a memorable voyage. There are a variety of itineraries to chose from, ranging from shorter 4-day tours whale watching and viewing the Aurora Borealis in the Arctic Circle, to longer 12-day tours enjoying the Arctic summer in North Spitsbergen. Activities include snowshoeing, hiking, and even ski-mountaineering on some tours.
