We were very happy with this cruise. The crew was amazing and always very informative about islands visiting. We had plenty of swim spots at amazing beaches. Service was wonderful and there is plenty to eat and drink. The cabins were small but often to be expected on a cruise. We would definitely do this cruise again!

Fabulous relaxing holiday
We had a fabulous trip- the crew were so helpful and welcoming and I enjoyed our lovely meals. The captain did a great job of modifying the itinerary due the the wind conditions and we managed to cover all the islands. Our trip coordinator, Ully did a great job in providing us with information. I loved our swim stops and the crew were so helpful getting us on and off zodiacs and keeping us safe and comfortable. It was a memorable trip and I would recommend this holiday to friends and family. Our cabin was comfortable and very clean. Thank you!

The crew, food, and other guests made for a delightful experience.
I really enjoyed swimming off the boat and when we couldn’t do that, when we went to the small beaches. I liked getting to know everyone on board. Everyone was so nice and really looked after each other. One night we danced on the sun deck until late which was great fun. The crew was very attentive and helpful when I had questions or needed help.

Nice short cruise in the Aegean Sea
A nice short trip with flexible itinerary. Unfortunately some strong winds forced the captain to change the route to avoid strong winds and uncomfortable seas. We missed some of the small islands. Overall the on board experience was good with jolly passengers and crew. The cabins on lower deck were a bit stuffy and some more shade on the upper decks would be good.

Beautiful small ship cruise with amazing itinerary
We loved Galileo! It’s a small boat so it was much more personal than a large cruise ship. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating and there was a great mix of guests from all walks of life. The boat was freshly renovated so cabin bathrooms were lovely, and communal areas clean and welcoming. The food was amazing but in the first few days there was too much food at dinner, and a lot on our plates was unfortunately sent back. By the end of the cruise the portion sizes were just right, so it was good to see not too much food wastage. Sustainable toiletries were provided in the cabins. Itinerary was spectacular and was modified on one or two occasions due to weather, although alternative options were also great. There were lots of little surprises (free) along the way for the guests that added to the itinerary and atmosphere. The guide (Jenny) was knowledgeable about the ancient sites and very passionate about her country. We loved how willing she was to share her culture. Highlights for us were sailing through the Corinth Canal at night, seeing Olympia, and spending time walking through the beautiful villages along the ship route. Only downside for us was that as we were the first cruise for the season, some of the ship renovations had not been fully completed. The cabin class we had booked was unavailable due to these renovations, so we were put in a lower class cabin which was above the engines. As the ship sailed a lot at night, it was very noisy and we did not sleep well. However, the tour company was very apologetic and provided us with a very quick refund of the price difference. The cabin we were put in for the cruise was comfortable and apart from the noise, was perfectly adequate for us. We met some beautiful people, and overall had a wonderful holiday. We would happily book another small ship cruise with Variety and would love to experience another trip with their fabulous itineraries.

Absolutely incredible, the ship, the crew, and the other travellers were fantastic.
Beautiful sun and beaches, a mix of quiet villages, historical sites, and nightlife. The wonderful thing is all of the sailing in between and the friendships made with other travelers from all over the world. Folegandros was my absolute favorite stop - wonderful small town high above the caldera with great shops, friendly people, and excellent restaurants.

Fantastic!
A nice variety of islands , it was great that we could spend some evenings on some islands. Good balance between time on the ship and on land. The crew took good care of us, and organized fun, varied activities, with a cocktail or wine or ouzo included. Nice to have a swimstop after breakfast! Our hostess Katarina informed us very good about everything, and took us for some short walks on villages.

A Homeric Odyssey
I decided to reread The Odyssey while on the cruise, and was reminded of Zeus's admonitions about hospitality. The crew members of Variety's Galileo follow those ancient Greek rules to a fault! I could tell that a couple exciting days of rough weather had our caretakers running ragged, but they were always kind, and warm and thoughtful. The modest size of the ship and limited number of guests made for intimate meals, and friendships were forged. We all felt smug when we pulled up alongside giant cruise ships blaring dance party music. Each island was a new destination to explore on foot, meandering along whitewashed alleyways and footpaths full of cats.

The swim stops! And hiking on the beautiful Cycladic Islands.. Our super-competent captain, who navigated around storms.. Our activity guide Katerina-Elenh Provatou, who seamlessly accommodated all the captain's necessary changes..

Our first but certainly not our last.
We tried this cruise as our first foray into cruises to see if we would like to try a larger cruise ship. What I can say, is I will never set foot aboard a cruise ship in my life. Small boat cruises have them all beat and the Galileo was so charming with its simplicity and captivating style. The locations were incredible, albeit you could leave Santorini and perhaps even Mykonos. Honestly would not recommend Santorini… feels false, too touristy and way overpriced for what it offers! Foligandros was the absolute star of the show. An island of 700 people where you can see the ‘real’ Greece and enjoy eating with the locals with prices half that of the tourist trap islands. Larger vessels cannot dock here and you should see it here before it’s possibly trampled over by a cruise liner. One thing I would say as a downside is the age of the vessel and lack of cleanliness. Our bathroom had black mould and dirty shower curtains. Something a deep clean would resolve but it really looked like it hadn’t had a proper scrub in a while. Last renovated in 2016 I believe. We were in the lower deck and experienced noises which were to be expected, It’s a small boat and we were prepared for such. It was common to be woken at 4am by the bow thrusters and other various docking noises but with a beautifully comfortable bed all was quickly forgiven. The excursions we heard were brilliant, only partaking in one ourselves which was on Syros but the rest of the islands we chose to go our own way, hire a Quad, ATV and Car to get around. Usually spending 40-60 euros each time and seeing much more than the other passengers from their feedback. I do think maybe they could offer a variety of excursions rather than the one and only option at each destination. I know how bothersome it can be to arrange and Vicky always worked hard to ensure the excursions went off without a hitch. Especially as our itinerary was flipped on its head after rough seas. Vicky was on form for most of the cruise but occasionally we felt as though we had done something wrong by asking a question or thought we missed some key information but it was common among the passengers to be confused by her instructions or lack thereof. A little more information would’ve gone a long way such as knowing where we would be on which days ahead of time - we had booked our own cooking class in Mykonos for example and needed to rearrange ourselves due to the schedule change. But also a little more local knowledge on what to do or how to get around. Maybe recommend a rental place who is trustworthy for peace of mind though we never had any issues wherever we went! Food aboard was okay. Maybe 1 or 2 nights we had a good meal onboard, the others were fairly average. We skipped dinner on one of the islands to come back to the boat expecting a real meal only to find it was a buffet of pizza… Spring rolls… cold pasta salad etc. to say I was disappointed in passing up real Greek food on a small island, Syros I believe, for this was an understatement. On a whole, I recommend this cruise. Though a little pricey, you will enjoy yourselves and make friends for life and feel like part of a family when you’re onboard. It’s a great way to see the Cyclades and the smaller lesser known islands where the large vessels cannot dock, THANK GOD!
