Dive Sites and Areas of Farasan Island
Farasan Island is located in the very south of the Saudi Arabia Red Sea, just off the coast from Jazan. Named as a ‘Marine Sanctuary’, this gives an idea of the marine life found in this area. Due to it’s far south location a liveaboard trip is one of the best ways to reach this dive area.
Farasan Banks is a large area consisting of thousands of small reefs and some islands stretching 350 miles North to South along the Saudi Arabian Red Sea coast. The area is well known for having diverse marine life and shark sightings are common including the shy Hammerhead sharks. Plenty of healthy hard and soft corals with a good sprinkling of reef walls, barracudas, tuna and lots more.
Liveaboard itineraries that visit the Farasan Banks usually depart from the port of Al Lith which is an internal transfer from the main international airport in Jeddah
