The KLM Gaya Baru Indah is a traditional sailing phinisi offering liveaboard diving around Indonesia's 'Bird's Head Seascape', which includes Raja Ampat. She typically takes only 8 guests per cruise, providing a more personalized, intimate service. There are 4 cabins available: two double cabins and two twin cabins, each with air conditioning, a fan, and a reading light. There are 3 shared bathrooms on the upper deck, each with a freshwater shower, shampoo, soap, and a toilet.
There is ample room to relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings aboard the Gaya Baru Indah liveaboard. During the day, awnings are set up to provide shade from the hot tropical sun, and in the evening, they are drawn back to make way for stargazing. Three delicious meals per day, plus plenty of snacks, are prepared in a mix of Indonesian and Western cuisines. The Gaya Indah Baru has 13 crew members serving 8 passengers, ensuring someone is always available to help the valued guests enjoy their trip to the fullest.
Itineraries range from 7 to 12 days long, with night dives offered throughout the trip. Dive groups are kept small with no more than 4 divers per guide, so everyone gets the most out of every dive. Raja Ampat offers the chance to see rays, sharks, colorful coral reefs, and large schools of tropical fish, with whale sharks as the highlight of the cruise. Unforgettable Liveaboard Experience in Raja Ampat
My time on Gaya Baru Indah was simply incredible. The diving was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever experienced—stunning dive sites, well-planned dives, and small groups led by truly experienced dive masters. Each dive was long, immersive, and absolutely breathtaking. The food on board was another highlight—delicious, authentic Indonesian cuisine that I looked forward to at every meal. The crew was amazing, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the trip even more special. While the cabins and facilities are quite basic, the true luxury of this liveaboard is the exceptional diving and fantastic food. The boat itself is a beautiful, traditional Indonesian vessel that adds to the charm of the experience. A huge thank you to Ralf and his entire crew for making this an unforgettable adventure. As a solo traveler, I felt completely comfortable and well taken care of. If you're looking for an authentic and extraordinary diving trip in Raja Ampat, this is the perfect choice!

Stunning experience
I enjoyed Every single moment onboard and underwater, the crew is very helpful and knowledgeable about the marine life, food is good and the trip is well organized. Boat and cabins are comfortable and clean, many bathrooms and crew focused on your best stay. I would do it again!

Small intimate boat with a great crew
Thoroughly enjoyed the Southern tour to Misool with the Gaya Baru Indah crew. They were accommodating with vegan options and there was plenty of tofu, tempeh and veggie dishes, even egg free pancakes. The best dives were at Four Kings when we were lucky to encounter more than 8 manta rays. The rooms are cosy, with enough shelving and the fans were adequate to cool you down without AC.

Trip of a lifetime!
Overall had an excellent trip that was well organized and planned. The crew was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The diving was exceptional and was led by very professional guides. The food was very good and always enough to go around, though felt repetitive at times with rice being served at every meal.

Amazing time for divers
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Gaya, even though it was unfortunately too short. The trip was extremely well organized, the boat provided plenty of space for us, and both the food and the crew were absolutely excellent. Thanks to our dive instructors, we received outstanding care and support throughout the trip, and the dive sites we visited were truly world-class. Unfortunately, I developed appendicitis while we were on board, and we had to leave the boat earlier than planned. Ralf supported us incredibly well in this difficult situation and managed to organize a speedboat for us at very short notice, which brought us safely back to the mainland. When we arrived at the harbor, one of the crew members even picked us up, took us to the hospital, and helped us with the admission process. We were incredibly grateful for this support. We definitely want to repeat this unforgettable experience one day — hopefully next time without any interruptions! 😊

Fantastic Diving Week in Raja Ampat on Gaya Baru Indah
Diving was outstanding - healthy corals, big schools of fish, mantas, sharks, etc. Food was delicious and the crew really helpful and friendly. We had one snorkeler in our group and the effort to give her a great experience as well was not 100% - we experienced better tours when it comes to this.

Fantastic trip with great team and experienced guides.
Excellent trip in a place not spoiled by man. Travel with a lot of varied diving between wide angle and macro. Excellent food, with great emphasis placed on Indonesian cuisine.
