- Traditional two-masted Phinisi
- Nitrox on board
The 33m La Galigo liveaboard in Indonesia is a traditional two-mast Phinisi sailing boat built in 2012. It was designed by an avid diver and built by traditional Sulawesi craftsmen with scuba diving in mind. The La Galigo has 7 en-suite cabins with privately controlled air-conditioning accommodating 14 guests. The ‘suites’ have a private balcony and a TV. There is a spacious living and dining area with a large TV, a well-stocked bookcase, and many power sockets for charging laptops, cameras, and video equipment. An isolated engine room makes the motor and generator noises very low. Appetizing meals are provided throughout the day. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. For relaxation, there are also outdoor common areas where guests can lounge in reclining chairs, enjoying the ocean breeze.
La Galigo is proud to be the only traditional wooden liveaboard with a dedicated diving platform at the rear of the boat. There are also two 6m dive tenders available. The itinerary includes trekking the outlook of Bintang lagoon and cruising through the limestone formations of Mt. Pindito. Scuba diving in Raja Ampat, where sharks can be found under the reefs. There are some great dive sites around Gam Island with vibrant fish-covered reefs and plenty of macro subjects. The biodiversity is rich and Manta Rays, Whale sharks, Wunderpus, Mimic Octopus, Ribbon Eels, Napoleon Maori Wrasse, Bump Head Parrot Fish, Eagle Rays, Pygmy Seahorse, Great Barracuda, Silver Tip Sharks, Bull Sharks, Walking Bamboo Sharks, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Frog Fish, Batfish, Potato Grouper, HammerHead Sharks, Grey Reef Shark, Large schools of Pelagic Fish, Nudibranchs, Turtles can be found. 15L dive tanks and complimentary 32% Nitrox fills are available on the vessel.

A first liveaboard experience that will be hard to out-do.
The overall experience delighted me. When I thought "that last dive was the best dive", it was out done on the next dive. The hard working crew went out of their way to insure everything was perfect. If there was a small glitch (because nothing in life is perfect), they would see to it immediately. The ship is beautiful and easily felt at home for 8 days.

Overall it was a great trip.
Had a superb dive master who knew the dive sites very well. Saw numerous giant mantas up close, sharks, octopus, macros in dives and even got to see dolphines as well. On the last day, went on a trek to see Komodo dragons which was fun also. Overall a wonderful experience, with great crew on a nice liveaboard boat. Happy to recommend La Galigo if you want an amazing Komodo diving adventure!
