Beyond the cabins, guests can dine in the main-deck restaurant, with 270-degree panoramic views, where a rotating menu highlights fresh, regional cuisine inspired by the destinations visited. Comfortable lounges—including an entertainment lounge and reading lounge—provide ideal places for cocktails, lectures, and evening gatherings. The sun deck with shaded seating offers the perfect spot to take in the passing scenery, while a fitness center lets guests stay active throughout the journey.
The American Star sails along the scenic waterways and coastal regions of the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, where its smaller size allows access to narrow rivers and shallow bays often unreachable by larger ships. On itineraries such as the New England Islands cruise, guests explore historic ports including Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, and Bristol, Rhode Island. The Veranda Suite is the largest room on Independence-class ships with 350 sq. ft. of space. Each suite has a large window and a private balcony with chairs. The bedroom has a comfortable layout with lounge setting, desk, and king size bed. A mini fridge is stocked with beverages and nightly “suite treats” are delivered to your room along with a bottle of champagne one evening during the cruise. Each room also has individual climate control, an in-room safe, single-serve coffee machine, dresser, and small closet.
