We highly recommend the trip, the boat and the crew
There were two of us for 6 nights in We were completely satisfied. Everything was well organized from transfer, check-in, food, diving to the return transfer. The team was super well-rehearsed.Someone from the crew was always there immediately if you needed help. Everyone was always very friendly. The boat has always anchored nearby or moored to the buoy. Then short Zodiac ride to the dive site. Our dive guide immediately adapted to us; always had everything under control. When many other groups were on the road, he made sure that we were very close to him and otherwise left us alone according to the respective experiences. Nevertheless, he kept showing us many things that we might have overlooked otherwise, e.g. tiny nudibranchs but also sharks etc. in blue water. He was also able to assess the residual air very well. The divers were divided into 4 groups so there was no stress and no space problems etc when getting ready or returning. We were a maximum of 5 guests in our group. The groups changed the order daily. There were lists of who was in which group and the respective order of who was allowed in the Zodiac. The crew had also organized this very well. The respective daily schedule with times as well as everything previous and the dive sites planned for the current day were also posted. Each diver had his equipment at a festival. The tanks were refilled immediately after diving. Nitrox was also possible. The oxygen content of the cylinder was always analyzed before each dive. The food was very tasty, varied and if you wanted, you could eat Thai food alone. Right after each dive, a small soft drink was served as soon as we got from the Zodiac to the boat; each time a different one, e.g. matcha tea, cocoa, sorbet. There was enough space on the boat, both for eating and relaxing. Eating was always possible under the awning or in the saloon. Cabins were also sufficiently large with enough storage space. There were two of us with two others in a four-person cabin and we could cut it in half with curtains in case one wanted to read and another wanted to sleep. There were no problems with the others in the cabin. Everyone was practically only in the cabin to sleep anyway. Sleeping was also possible on deck, if the boat did not exceptionally sail at night. The highlight for us was the dive site Richelieu Rock.

Best liveaboard!
Amazing week aboard The Junk! A boat with a lot of charm and a crew worthy of the name! The dives were amazing respecting safety first throughout the trip! The cabins were ok, although old but you can't expect better given the historical side of the boat! I will do it again with great pleasure! The Junk wins the prize of my liveabord!

Fantastic diving, amazing crew, and great atmosphere!
Our trip on The Junk was unforgettable. From the moment we stepped aboard, the crew made us feel welcome and cared for. The boat was comfortable and full of character, the diving was world-class, and the team’s attention to detail made everything smooth and enjoyable. Between the great food, relaxed atmosphere, and stunning dive sites, it was the perfect mix of adventure and comfort.

Well above expectations.
The Junk is a boat with a lot of character without sacrificing comfort. Perhaps modern ships feel a bit more luxury but they also tend to be more expensive so the Junk was very good value. I very much enjoyed the smaller than normal number of divers they allow on board and the layout of communal areas helped make it easy to interact with others. I was in the 4 bunk bed cabin which has its own bathroom/shower and was perfectly fine. It was just next to the engine room which was noisy when sailing but apart from the day of departure nearly all sailing happens during the day. The dive and boat operation briefings where the best I've experienced and it is the only time ever I had good biology briefings for dive sites (and I have 3000+ dives). There is good variety from one dive site to the other, with rough and rugged ocean-facing sites characterized by large granite boulders, swim-throughs and larger fish. The more protected eastern side of island have very bright white sand substrate, abundant coral growth and good diversity of all regular smaller reef fishes. As a photographer I also noticed that it was often much easier to approach fishes than elsewhere, especially for mid-sized fish. On a few west-side dives we had cold upwellings that reduced the temperature and visibility but often that was solved by going a bit shallower. The first 3 dives of the day were all 60 minute dives with the 4th dive in the late afternoon or night limited to 45 minutes.

- Small group of 14 divers (18 max). Excellent cruise director with dive & biology briefings. Guide went slow to give plenty of time to look around.

Very rewarding trip
It has been a short but very rewarding life on board. Everything is very well organized, from pick-up and drop-off to the boat and the transfer after the trip is over to the airport or another hotel. The organization is very good, well-structured tempos, snacks and drinks between dives.Spectacular food. All the staff on the boat are super friendly and help at any time. The boat is old but has a lot of charm. The dive sites are well chosen depending on the weather and waves. The dive guides accompany you without pressure. Dives are 60 minutes. We are very happy to have been able to enjoy a few days on this boat and with this crew.

A Great Diving Experience, Cool boat, Excellent Team
Highlights of the trip include the genuine happiness of the entire crew, along with the professionalism of the dive leaders. The Junk itself is tremendous. It was incredibly clean and well maintained and the cabins were comfortable and cool. Everything just seemed to work. The best diving was on Richelieu Rock where we saw schooling jacks, schooling barracuda, healthy soft corals, and a myriad of reef fish. Sea horses and nudibranchs were also seen on nearly every dive. The water was warm and the visibility was fantastic. The under water topography at Elephant Head site in the Similans included huge granite boulders which made for fun swim-throughs. We missed out on Mantas and Whale Sharks this trip but overall is highly recommended for experienced divers who want a stress free diving holiday.
