Blackbeards Sea Explorer, Bahamas

BOOK NOW

The 65’ sloop, Blackbeard's Sea Explorer, offers year-round dive trips to the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas. Diving with sharks, exhilarating drift diving, beautiful walls and blue holes are what make the Exuma Cays so special. There is no set itinerary aboard the Sea Explorer liveaboard, the captain and crew will take the boat where the conditions and weather are best, and with over 250 moored dive sites there is no shortage of amazing places to dive!

Blackbeard's Sea Explorer, which is the identical twin sister of Morning Star liveaboard and sister vessel of Aqua Cat (see Blackbeard's Fleet), offers 3 dormitory style cabin areas with 18 bunks and 3 heads. Each cabin area has AC, and all are sectioned off with privacy curtains, similar to a sleeper cabin on a train. A trip with Blackbeards Sea Explorer includes up to 19 dives, all meals and snacks and all drinks including beer, wine and rum punch. When you take a trip with Blackbeard's Sea Explorer, not only will you discover some of the best diving the Bahamas has, but you will make life-long friends and have an adventure to remember.

To reserve your space book online or call us today.

Please Note: Morning Star and Sea Explorer are identical twin sisters and may be used interchangeably. Whilst we can take requests for specific bunks they are not guaranteed, and the rate is per person, not per bunk.

Impossible to get more on a trip!

The crew on Blackbeards Sea Explorer were phenomenal! Brian did great briefings. Iain took us to amazing spots with our safety always in mind. Justing gave us the VIP treatment with great stories, Elayna was a joy to be around, and Chris was a blast and worked hard to keep everything running. Also, Gladys cooked amazing food and was a ton of fun to be around! Only thing I could recommend in the future would be a Margarita machine but that's it. Can't wait to come back!

Awesome Time

Even for someone who likes the water four dives a day and an afternoon swim is alot of water time! Despite some rain the trip was awesome. Lots of animal life. The shark feed had to be the highlight for me. Next the swim throughs. Blue Hole. The crew was awesome and all the fellow divers got along great. Fantastic value for the money.

Really good value for the amount paid. Highly recommend.

The crew were fantastic... friendly and very helpful. The weather cooperated thankfully. Organized well. Tasty food. Overall, wonderful and a great value. Will do it again!

New friends, New appreciation, New understandings

The wall dives were my biggest highlight on this trip. Being able to swim in the shallows and then just have the ocean show how mysterious it can be by giving you an endless view into the deepest of blues that you will likely experience. Being able to look down and not know what's there because of the limited but strangely endless view is a rather humbling moment. The crew I had on my trip were just incredible too. Although they act in the most professional manner as required to mitigate the risks associated with this trip, they balance this out perfectly with their friendly demeanour, making you laugh, addressing any concerns you may have and ultimately actually becoming your friend by the end of the trip. It would have been an entirely different trip if the crew had been purely a boat crew only.

The best bang for your buck

This is a great diver's liveaboard experience. You have everything you need and no extra fuss or mess. You get about 4 dives per day and the locations are excellent. The crew works hard to make your trip an excellent experience. They have almost everything you need on that 65 foot boat. On my trip there divers of all levels from Open Water to Instructors. The dive sites were for all levels also. If you like to prep, dive, rest and repeat this boat and trip is for you.

Great value for money

Although cabins and bathrooms are rustic - still clean and comfortable, the food was amazing and super tasty... Dan, the cook, converts the diving trip also into a foodie tour, serving 3 meals and 2 snacks a day:) Crew was great and always friendly and attentative. even though weather conditions were so so, captain Chris and his team made the best out of it. They brought in as much diving diversity as possible even restrained by limited possibilities due to sea conditions. We had shark feeding, diving through a washing machine, deep dives, wrecks, very vivid night dives etc. The instructor/ dive master Ian is great fun and always happy to help. felt secure and in good hands and all times. Very recomendable dive trip!

Dive trip like Camping on sea

Sharks up and close, exciting swimthroughs, being on a live aboard with my partner. And that we all had a great time together partying without it getting out of hand.

Good week

Shark feeding, spending time with turtles, good drift dives, no dive master on dives so we planned our dives as we wished emptied our tanks.

Bucket list

There was a cathartic aspect to the trip, processing grief. Two of the 19 paying guests were men dealing with recent loss of our wives to beain tumors. The other guy in that situation placed a papier mache tirtle holding his wife’s ashes on the first dive. I was merely taking a trip that her condition over many years had made impossible, in keeping with her dying demand that the kids and I go forward embracing life with joy and love. She could not tolerate boating very well and could not have qualified medically for scuba in the past 25 years; she would be pleased to see me doing both. The crew did all they could to help me as a barely certified novice diver sorely lacking in scuba experience to develop. Of the other passengers, several had decades of scuba experience as instructors and dive masters. I benefited from diviing with them, especially one who volunteered to be my dive buddy. Accommodations were Spartan, which I knew, but I loved being rocked to sleep in my bunk. Food was consistently excellent.

Dreaming of my next one

This is one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I wasn’t looking forward to going to the Bahamas by myself, everyone always bails. I’m so happy I did this. Amazing experience, the food is some I’ve ever had in my life, I would go back just for that. Ask for reds boat and Dan as the cook. The dives and the sharks and the fish and the blue hole, I loved everything aside from the small heads and shower. I’m a bigger boy so everything’s small to me. Deciding if I want to do Bahamas next year again or go to another country. No matter what, I’m doing a liveaboard again!
