50+ Mantas at Hanifaru Bay

Special route to BAA Atoll for Mantas resulted in the all-inclusive cruise. Thanks to Ms. Kaorita, owner-guide of Maldivian Stars (Currently operates Princess Hassena), her decision of diving sites which meet with marine situation and networking closely with other local ships brought us lots of chances to encounter with 50+ Mantas gathering, Whale sharks, huge numbers of rays, and Great hammer head sharks and Tiger shark. We also enjoyed her original sites around BAA atoll covered by so colorful soft coral. I can definitely say this week was No.1 within my five time experiences in Maldives. 15 guests were all Japanese, and more than half of them were repeaters. Princess Haseena welcomes guests from all over the world, but can be recommended for divers who prefer safety first, flexible site choice, Nitrox (it was free) and cleanliness of room.

Great diving, friendly staff, and nice boat!

Snorkeling in Hanifaru Bay with ~10 mantas. Night snorkeling with whaleshark feeding off the back of the boat (attracted by night light). Diving with whitetip sharks in Helengeli Thila (channel dive, strong current). The food was good and plentiful. Diving was relaxed (3 dives/day). On my trip, there were only 7 divers total (the boat supports up to 18), so there was plenty of space. But the common areas are large, so it wouldn’t have been an issue anyway. Diving off a doni (second boat) meant that the main boat wasn’t cluttered with drying gear etc.

Diving with mantas and whaleshark, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff
