Small Ship Cruises in Korčula
A Korčula Cruise brings visitors to the birthplace of Marco Polo, but that's hardly the only attraction in this Dalmatian Coast deluxe cruise. Legend says Korčula, like Padua, was founded by the Trojan hero Antenor in 12th century BC. Korčula is separated from the Pelješac peninsula by the Strait of Pelješac and is the second most populated island in the archipelago. This is one reason small luxury yachts are ideal for Adriatic cruises. It's easy to traverse the seascape in a small ship.
Cruises to Korčula, Croatia give you access to the beaches of Vela Przina, Pupnatska Luka, and Proizd. Walk among the beautiful old town on a guided town tour before seeking refreshment in one of the local restaurants, bars or cafes.
Whether you're seeking fun on the water or a historical trip among ancient buildings, Korčula is a destination with so much to offer.
Top things to do and see in Korčula
Your Croatia Island Hopping cruise isn't complete without a guided tour of the beautiful Old Town. Surrounded by walls and set off bow towers, Korčula Town may be the best example of a coastal Dalmatian town in all of Croatia. The city culminates at an old central Plaza flanked by medieval and renaissance style architecture. St. Marcs Cathedral is a famous historical stop. The Town Museum and Icon Museum are nearby the Plaza and All Saints Church.
You'll work up an appetite after your walking tour so it will be high time for a stop by one of the many restaurants, bars, and cafes. The prices are reasonable and the area is known for excellence in food.
You can't forget the beaches of Vela Przina, Pupnatska Luka, and Proizd, where you can enjoy the sun, snorkeling, scuba, and swimming in the clear water.
You can take a wine tour by bike to sample the fragrant wines of Korčula. Stop anywhere you like along your way and sample the wares of each vineyard that suits your fancy.
In July and August, the traditional Moreska Sword Dance takes place, where two teams dressed in red and black tell a rich story of emotion and conflict. Korčula is the last place in the Mediterranean where guests can see this native cultural dance that dates back over 400 years. Catch one of two showings a week.
Best time to cruise Korčula
Time to plan ahead for the best time to visit Korčula. Most of the year, you'll be greeted by good weather and all of the activities you desire. Travel to Korčula in May and June or September and October is smart because it is just before the most popular season. Activities are open, the weather is pleasant, warm enough for swimming but not too oppressive to enjoy a bike ride on the island.
By July and August, the guests are arriving and things are getting crowded. The temperatures creep up, making this a great time of year to lounge of the beach or play in the clear water along the pebble beaches. This is also the time of year to take in a viewing of the Moreska Sword Dance.
It's trickier to travel to Korčula in November to April. Lodging is scarce during this off-season and most of the activities are shut down. Some do enjoy travel during this time of year to experience the real Korčula.
Where do Korčula Island cruises depart from?
When you're ready to embark on your Croatia cruise, you'll fly into one of the international airports. You can land in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Pula, Split, Opatija or Zadar. The most helpful thing is to consult your specific itinerary to see your departure port. This will help you choose the closest airport to land at.
Many of our Adriatic cruises depart from the port in Split. In that case, you can fly directly to the airport. Members of your crew will meet you to help you with your luggage and escort you to the ship.

Loved olive oil and wine tasting before lunch on board Aurelia while traveling to Korčula. Guided tour of the city was great. Guide gave tips on where to explore. Again enjoyed the free time after tour wandering the narrow streets, walking along the promenade, climbing to the top of the bell tower for the wonderful view of the city and afterwards enjoying a lovely cocktail in Massimo Bar with a wonderful rooftop view at sunset. Had another lovely evening meal that night at a local restaurant
