Highlights

  • Traditional Phinisi-style liveaboard
  • Explore secret beaches and lagoons
  • Tailored private charters to suit your needs

Barefoot luxury is the theme behind Mikumba Dua (of lost paradise charters) liveaboard Indonesia, having undergone an extensive renovation giving a contemporary twist to this traditional wooden boutique style phinisi. Mikumba Dua boasts the largest outdoor space found on any vessel in her class, spanning over 4 decks, allowing guests to indulge in alfresco dining under the stars while sipping away at their favorite drink or perhaps getting involved in some sunrise/sunset yoga or just lounging around on beanbags with a book. The main hub of the boat is the beautiful indoor salon, which also offers dining, a cinema room, a library, board games, or simply space for relaxation. There are 2 Master cabins on the upper deck, both en-suite and with their own private balcony, with a further 3 double/twin cabins on the lower deck sharing 2 bathrooms. All cabins are spacious and individually designed, embracing traditional local materials and fabrics.

Dining generally takes place on the top deck while taking in incredible vistas; our legendary local chef will provide a selection of authentic dishes prepared daily using the freshest locally sourced ingredients and cooked with dedication and love. The Ethos onboard Mikumba Dua is to seek adventure while getting you away from the crowds and giving you world-class diving and snorkeling. Visit secret beaches and lagoons and encounter breathtaking views from jungle-covered hilltops, all of which make for a truly magical experience, “the stuff of dreams.”

The enchanting and magnificent Raja Ampat, one of the last frontiers on Earth, is the ultimate tropical paradise. Commonly regarded as the most biodiverse marine ecosystem on our planet and ultimately some of the greatest diving and snorkeling in the world, as beautiful above the surface as below, it is “truly Heaven on Earth.”

The ambiance aboard Mikumba Dua reflects the feeling that guests are extended family and perfectly combines the balance of adventure and the feeling of home. Mikumba Dua is also available for private hire; the date of the charter, length of trip, locations, and activities can all be tailored to your needs.

Incredible

The diving is amazing of course. The boat is super comfortable. Not crowded, plenty of areas to either socialize or grab some alone time. The food was great with good variety and plenty of fresh fruit. The dovr guides were helpful and not overbearing. The boat staff were efficient and friendly. The owner was very interactive and kind and positive. It was a tremendously fun week - cannot wait to return. Would easily repeat the same trip without hesitation.

Fantastic Liveaboard Experience

I would recommend Mikumba 2 to anyone. With 10 divers and 2 DMs, it was the perfect size for diving Raja Ampat. They coordinated with other boats and smartly timed the itinerary to ensure we had most dive sites to ourselves. This was especially useful for sites with strong currents or where you’d want to hook in to watch the action at the head of the reef (I can’t imagine how chaotic it would have been diving some of the sites with 20 people). The DMs were great, Fadly kept us on schedule and was great at spotting nudis. Ardi really knows the different fish and talked with us for hours after dinner about the different fish and animals we saw. He’s also great at shooting video with his GoPro. Hugo (another DM/Cruise Coordinator) was fantastic and made sure that there was always something to do, kept us well-informed, and took care of any concern we raised. The DMs also worked with the less experienced divers in our group, making little adjustments and offering minor tips that really improved their bouancy. The food was also great — they gave us 4 hearty meals a day plus tons of snacks! Highlights were the Friwan Wall, Blue Magic, and Melissa’s Garden. We also saw Mantas and had amazing interactions with cuttlefish on our night dive (the bioluminescent plankton was so cool!). I got to see a gray reef shark, a white tip, and lots of black tips and wobbegongs. Damian (the owner) arranged our transit from Sorong to the boat which made getting there easy (it would have been difficult and confusing without the guide). It’s standard, so don’t worry. I just recommend coming in the day before so you are able to catch the 9am ferry from Sorong to Waisai

Jem is a gem!!! Thanks Mikumba 2 & crew for the magical week <3

The dive sites of Raja Ampat are absolutely breathtaking (SO much marine diversity WOW), and there’s no boat I’d rather experience them on than the beautiful Mikumba 2! Mikumba 2 had by far the most varied activities I’ve ever experienced on a liveaboard — we had multiple beach hangouts, paddle boarding in the mangroves, a beach bonfire, and a magical hike to the top of Piaynemo. Jem is the kindest, friendliest guy EVER and is such a joy to be around. He and every single member of the crew went far above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic stay on the boat. The crew members were so nice :’) they helped out so much with our dives, and the dive guides were so knowledgeable about all the wildlife (and GREAT at finding creatures of all shapes and sizes)! And the food, omg— every meal was a dreaaam. They varied from day to day and consisted of a mix of local (fried rice/noodles, beef curry, lots of fish, stir fried veggies, etc) and western food (bacon, eggs, pancakes, bread, the most amazing butter and Nutella, etc). Each meal ended with the most spectacular tropical fruit platter. YUM. A few pointers: make sure you’re comfortable with strong current (there is current in many Raja Ampat dive sites), and maybe bring earplugs since some of the downstairs rooms were a little creaky at night when the boat was moving. We love all of you on Mikumba 2!!!! And hope to be back one day!!!

The crew of Mikumba Dua gave us the best week we could possibly ask for! They kept us safe, showed us the beauty of Raja Ampat in the water and on land, brought so many smiles and laughs to our faces, and gave us the time of our lives! Absolutely incredible crew (every single one of them), awesome diving, amazing lounge space on the boat, comfortable and spacious dive deck, delicious food, SUPs, kayaks, land excursions, beaches, sandbars…what an adventure!

Wobblegongs everywhere

Access to so many epic dive sites. Mikes point with its nooks and cranies, caves and swim through, beautiful coral strewn walls, healthy abundant hard/soft/fans/sponges and table coral along with the vast array of fish made this dive VERY special. We had the double room with private balcony so waking up surrounded by the sea was special. Dive hist Hugo and both dive guides were some of the best I've ever had (in 20 years of diving) Absolutely 100% recommend Mikumba2. The 3 flights from uk along with the 2hr boat transfer is well worth it! Magic!

Our experience at Mikumba was superb. The staff it’s super friendly and the dive masters are very skilled. The itinerary was perfect and the diving gear was in great condition. The boat it’s amazing and cozy, with a lot of outdoor space, ideal for our morning yoga routine. The food was delicious and we always had plenty of options to choose. We also enjoyed a lot the complementary activities like kayaking, paddle board, excursions, etc. were. Highly recommended.

Perfect 5 day trip

If you are thinking about booking this trip definitely do. We had five perfect days with an itenary that was thoughtfully designed to make sure we got the best diving at the optimum times and stayed away from the crowds/day trippers. The boat was beautiful, the cabins were spacious, clean and well designed. The food was delicious and plentiful and sunset drinks were well made. The crew were an absolute highlight. They were all so kind and bent over backwards to take care of us. The diving fantastic and the amount of things we saw on every dive was unbelievable. Everything for diving was well prepared and so easy. Fadli and Willy the dive guides were very safety conscious and took great care of us. One of our group had trouble with her ears so snorkelled and was worried she wouldn’t see as much but the visibility was perfect and the coral and fish life was just as good. Damien knew the perfect spots to go. There were always activities available when not diving like kayaking/paddle boarding/sunset beach trips and walks. We are already planning our next trip on the Mikumba to Raja Ampat!

Trip of a lifetime.

The diving in Komodo is world class. When you couple that with a world class crew and dive masters you get the trip of a lifetime. To add the cherry on the top, Jem is on hand to assist and advise on all matters whilst on board. The crew can’t do enough for you, they prep all your kit between dives, ensure you have the required air (extra for the heavier breathers in the group) and even wash it all for you at the end of the trip! My partner rented all their kit and every item was in great condition and well maintained. Hooks and torches were even available too on board! Every small detail and effort to make the trip perfect for you has been thought of and the value is unbelievable. Dietary requirements were well catered for and as a non fish eater was given my own personal option each meal!! Not only is the diving epic but the team ensure you get to take in the views with 2 treks, find secluded locations for the boat to stay, see the dragons AND make time for you to enjoy remote beaches and play with on the water on paddle boards and kayaks… 10/10 experience. Would recommend to everyone and will be rebooking with the Mikumba Dua family again ASAP.
