The beautiful Mari liveaboard is a traditional Indonesian phinisi offering year-round diving trips in Raja Ampat, the Banda Sea and Komodo National Park. Constructed entirely of ironwood and teak, the 30m Mari underwent a complete refurbishment in 2016 to offer modern furnishings and ample onboard space. She caters to a maximum of 14 guests in 7 cabins, ensuring a more personal experience and plenty of room to relax. There are 3 Deluxe and 4 Superior cabins, each offering individually controlled AC, storage space and private bathrooms. All cabins are located on the main deck so are bright and well ventilated. Common areas include the open-air lounge and bar, as well as 2 sun-decks with loungers. The recent addition of a highly-trained chef onboard means that a wide variety of fresh, healthy and delicious cuisine will keep hungry divers satisfied. The al-fresco dining table is the perfect place to enjoy a hearty meal whilst surrounded by the stunning Indonesian scenery.
The Mari explores the best of Indonesia's dive sites, to offer exciting year-round adventures. From July - October divers can explore Komodo National Park on 4, 5 and 10-night trips. Divers can expect thrilling diving in the national park at world-famous dive sites such as Manta Alley, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock, diving with manta rays, sharks and huge schools of fish. In October the boat moves to Raja Ampat via Flores & the Maluku and then stays in Raja Ampat until the following April. Explore one of the most diverse marine environments in the world, with the chance of seeing everything from pygmy sea-horses to whales. The spacious dive deck with gear storage and individual rinse tanks, large dive tender for getting to and from the dive sites and recent addition of nitrox availability ensure a comfortable dive liveaboard.

Fantastic clean new liveaboard
The night dives were amazing and one of the dive guides was really good at pointing out interesting critters. Little side excursions were perfect and Holger was very flexible with taking the small boat to snorkel sites. Crew is good and polite, great with taking care of all your gear.

Paradise above and below the surface.
Everything. This is the second time that we have used this operator once in Komodo and now Raja Ampat. They are so attentive to your needs and wants. Their attention to detail is incredible for example from the first check dive they notice exactly how i like my BCD set up then each time is was perfect for me. The food through out the trip is always off the charts it was mix of local delights and a few western favorites thrown in there (like French Fries or Chips). Our Dive Guide was awesome he was super familiar with dive sites, currents, and read the conditions very well. He was also super knowledgeable when it came to Fish and Creature ID. I highly recommend the Mari and plan to do more trips on the BEAUTIFUL boat in the future.

Great overall experience
The variety in marine life (several species of sharks, manta, lots of fish, sea turtles and more!) was amazing! Although both the staff and the other guests could be more aware of the marine environment when diving. The boat was nice and the food was delicious. Overall great experience!

Amazing, wonderful, fantastic and unbelievable!!!
The whole trip was highlights. I have been on many liveaboards all over the world and this one was the best! It is not fancy. It is homey, comfortable, relaxed and personal. The food was yummy (new chief) and lots of it. I have no complaints.

- The crew knocked themselves out to make sure everything was perfect. The diving was incredible. The boat was a wooden, Indonesian, old design that was authentic and great to travel on. The divemasters were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and excited about every dive.
The Mari is a beautiful ship with skilled crew, fabulous dive masters, and wonderful food.
Each consecutive dive seemed to push the limits of the words FABULOUS, AMAZING, AND MAGNIFICENT. The huge diversity and vast amount of flora and fauna seen on this trip demonstrates the other-worldliness of reef life in Raja Amput. The diving is some of the best in the world and to have warm water, pleasant living conditions, and great food seemed like the tasty icing on a scrumptious cake.

- Our dive masters highlighted the stunning coral gardens, searched and found the tiniest of micro organisms like pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs, and set us up to see the oceanic and reef mantas, woebegone sharks, and scads of reef sharks. The crew coordinated our dives so we never had our experiences negatively impacted by other divers. Our food and lodging was top shelf.
A low cost alternative which is better for experienced divers rather than beginners

Absolutely Great
Of course the diving was the highlight. We saw lots of Wobbegon and reef sharks and spent 2 dives at the manta cleaning station with friendly mantas. We swam with swirling schools of a thousand plus fish. I highly recommend the Mari!

- The staff took care of our every need. We didn’t lift or carry any tanks. The Tender Boats were set up with all our gear and we were helped putting it on and off. The food was great and more than we could eat. The Indonesian boat was homey and comfortable.
Great Diving in Komodo
We had a number of great dives with many sharks (nurse sharks, reef sharks, white tip and black tip shark), Rays (Eagle, Marble, Cow Nose Rays), and many many turtles (hawksbill and green turtles), Napoleons, Crocodile Fish, ...... .. Lots of small stuff as well (nudibranch, metasepia pfefferi,.....) Holger was a great host.

Very nice boat, and great diving, and their was plenty of good food.
It was great seeing so many sharks. I have dived before and seen sharks, but never this many. The dive guides were great, friendly and knowledgeable. Their ability to spot wildlife was incredible and they made the experience amazing. Make sure you know what you are renting though, as despite ticking and not ticking various items before arriving, I was given it all and charged as well. I should have checked when I was handed everything but I accepted it all without question assuming it was in line with what I had requested earlier and then was handed the bill at the end.

You can see a lot of Manta rays from touching distance, there are a lot of wobbegong sharks, and there is one species of the walking sharks which live only at Raja Ampat.

Amazing Trip 7D/6N Raja Ampat
We had a really nice trip in March 2019. The trip was exactly like the description. The crew was so helpful and friendly. There was a lot of good food at any time. Before every dive there was a good briefing and the divemasters have a lot of experience. We were 11 guests divided into 3 dive groups. We saw the walking sharks, Mantas, a lot of macros and so much more! We really can recommend to dive with Mari in Raja Ampat.

Exhilarating!
Been diving ~8 yrs, never seen such density of flora and fauna underwater at any location. This is by far my best diving experience. Ranging from the vast expanse of huge and colorful corals at Melissa's garden, to the Manta cleaning stations at Blue Magic and Manta's Ridge where oceanic mantas literally sneak up on you, and the amazing macro life at Kerou channel - it was truly an amazing trip. Definitely the first of many :)

Surprisingly good
We did south and central Raja Ampat on the Mari Liveaboard (12 days). On average we did 3 dives a day and we loved it! Our master diver, Ungke , was very experienced and energetic and he knew the area very well. We always felt safe with him. The boat was very comfortable and the crew was very attentive. The boat has different areas to relax after the dives. Regarding food, we loved the breakfast and the "surprise" that was waiting for us after the afternoon dive. Our favourite diving spots were Melissa's garden and Blue Magic. We saw mantas, lots of sharks (white tip, black tip, wawigong and walking sharks), pigmy seahorses, pipefish, nudibranches, different types of shrimps and many many fish that I cannot list here. The dives were easy with no current. We came in December and the sea was calm, but in the south the visibility was worse than in Central. I think we were unlucky because the visibility is supposed to be great in Misool, but it rained a couple of days. The last 2 days of the trip could be improved. The last day we spent the day on the boat, on the port of Sorong as we arrived at around 6pm the previous day. We could have done more dives on the previous day, we did only 2 in the morning and then we headed to Sorong. We returned to Sorong to soon and we feel that we missed half day of diving.

Great way of seeing all Raja Ampat has to Offer
19 Varied and excellent dives where we saw pretty much everything we expected. We were well looked after by the dive guides who did safety checks prior to each dive.. important as there are some strong currents. The mantas, pygmy seahorses and sharks (especially wobble gong and walking sharks)were spectacular. There was plenty of food and it was tasty but perhaps lacked a little in creativity.. we had rice for every lunch and evening meal. We enjoyed the land tour but would have liked perhaps a village visit. The boat worked like clockwork and we had a great group of 8 international clients.. All in all we had a wonderful time and the KLM Mari and its crew will give you a super RA experience

Friendly staff and wonderful experience!
it was definitely one of the best liveaboard experiences I have ever had so far. We saw sharks, small stuff, manta and knew many new species. Despite the weather was not that good sometimes, the staff managed to keep us safe and sound and provide excellent service in storm. We enjoyed every dive especially in Balak Island, where we saw manta out of blue, without having to fight against strong current. The dive master joked that we could name that dive site since it is a new discovery for them as well.
