Best liveaboard yet

This was one of the best weeks of my diving life. Ticked every box: Mantas, Whale Shark,, Guitar Shark, Tiger Shark, and thriving coral reefs to drift past. Little congested on some of the dives, very congested on a few. Maildives is exploding as a dive destination...would be nice if some planning between the boats could at least stagger things a little. Overall highly recommend never the less.

Nice week spent on the boat

The dive guides are very funny and tried to make our dives enjoyable as far as possible. It’s thrilling that we could get very close encounters with manta rays and sharks. Other crew staff are very friendly and always there to offer help when needed.

Terrific staff and service, some disappointment neverthesess.

Highlights - see above. Not the fault of Carpe Diem, but there is quite a dicrepancey between the way the Maldives advertise themselves a a prime scuba diving location and what actually exists in terms of good and healthy coral reefs. Not having been to the Maldives for a couple of decades, the damages of coral bleaching and other environment factors is quite evident, We had some very good dives nonetheless and were lucky to have such a nice groups of fellow travellers. The Manta rays were a definite highlight, and the effort by the crew to present us with opportunities to encounter whale sharks was very much appreciated. The boat itself is OK and fit for purpose. The diving set-up in the dhoni works well. The Carpe Diem vessel itself is starting to look a bit old and tired. Our so-called top of the range deluxe cabin was not what we expected - broken blinds, rattling doors which need to be jammed so they don't wake you uo at the slightest movement of waves. But, all in all, as stated above - it is the staff whose friendly and helpful disposition and willingness to go the extra mile really made a difference.

The Carpe Diem staff are second to none. The cook is excellent, especially if one likes traditional local food (curries etc). Some dive sites were exciting, especially the large number of Mantas.

Very nice diving holidays

We spent one week on board of Carpe Diem. The boat is usually occupied by 22 divers and we were only 13 so there was more than enough space on the boat. Our main deck cabin was small yet very nice. The food was amazing. The bartender Shawn prepares delicious cocktails. The sundeck is large with several sunbeds. Diving was average for the region and the dives were not very demanding. There are in average 3 dives a day: around 7 am, 10 am and afternoon. Only one dive was with some stronger current. The entire boat crew is really wonderful: professional, dive guides know the area, attentive and very nice. We have spent a really nice diving holiday.

My favourite liveaboard

In the first 2 days of diving, we had seen more than we could have hoped for in the entire week! Every dive was fantastic. The whole trip was amazing due to friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable crew. It is by far my favourite liveaboard and I cannot recommend them enough.

All in for the best dives

The guides were all in and going out of their ways for maximising the chances to interact with pelagics. Unfortunately, we did not get to Hanifaru Bay even though we went during manta season and for full moon when they are active, but the weather was supposed to turn bad during these days so the trip route was switched around. But safety prevails and we did see many mantas, whalesharks, grey reefs, guitars and other reef sharks. Would do it again definitely. Next time the Deep South tour with Carpe Diem.
