Fantastic sea life; fantastic crew.
The crew and guides on the JP Marine are what really make this a fantastic experience. The crew is professional and kind, super helpful, and do so much work behind the scenes they make the experience seamless. The guides, Peter and Karim, are fantastic - extremely knowledgable and ensure safety first while showing you amazing sites all along the Red Sea. The food is excellent - the kitchen staff absolutely outdid themselves every day and on the last night even cooked a whole turkey, which, as an American I really appreciated, as it was Thanksgiving! The accomodation is more on the spartan side - small rooms and simple bedding/linens, and the bathroom shower gets everything wet. But it didn't really bother me, as I wasn't there to spend time in my room! Overall I highly recommend this to anyone looking to experience diving in the Red Sea.

Awful service and dangerous boat (review for MY Orion) same company
First off, I booked with JP Marine and they changed me to MY Orion a week before I left, telling me it was a better boat. These guys run a shady operation so careful. My main reason for this complaint was due to the terrible safety on board the MY Orion, following this, due to it not meeting what was stated would be minimums. Regarding safety, the boat only had 1 working zodiac, they claimed that this was because of water getting in the engine. However, this should have still be resolved. Most dives, which occur in open ocean all the divers had to be taken out and picked up in one zodiac (groups of 15). This was completely unacceptable and damaging for the equipment. Furthermore, it also meant that when divers surfaced they had to spend extended periods of time waiting for a zodiac to pick them up since multiple trips to take all 27 divers had to take place. This was all made worse by the fact that there are currents in the area and sharks (for which it is recommended not to stay on the surface). Another huge issue was the terrible maintenance of their equipment. We had multiple O-rings blow up on this trip. Which was quite understandable since they were using old broken ones (Unluckily I can't post pictures). Even after multiple issues with them (and two underwater blow outs of the O-rings) they still kept on putting in broken O-rings. This issue was made worse by the fact that the staff had no experience with divers, an example being that when o-rings blew up they thought they just had to tighten the regulator harder. The staff was also highly unskilled, without any knowledge on how to treat equipment, i.e. picking up equipment (tank, bottle and BCD) by the regulators. Throwing stuff around. They dropped a weight pocket when throwing them off the zodiac and then claimed it had not happened, until we told them that half of the boat had seen it. The dive guide was very unskilled, lost two divers due to an O-ring blow out and did not notice until we told him outside the water. Obviously no zodiacs where waiting for them. Aside from this, all the small things where pretty bad as well unluckily. The food was pretty bad (however, these boats are cheap so understandable). The day we got there (early landing) some driver dropped us off at a closed resort (before boarding), we had to wait for 3 hours for it to open. They told me that the cost was 5 euros and it was 15. On the way back to Hurghada their driver tried to drop me off about 30 min outside of the city. Again, just a lot of bad experiences. Oh and the service was terrible. First example; on the last day our dive guide knew we were unhappy, he told us how much to tip and then demanded we tip him then and there (we were not scheduled to leave the boat for another 20ish hours. A few of us told him we did not have enough cash so he told us to go to the ATM. Once he got everyones tip, he left without saying bye to all the guests. Example 2, we had the owner's wife on board and she never took responsibility for any issues. She told me it was my fault for not checking their faulty o-rings (we concluded it was probably the DIN to yoke adaptors). Example 3, on the last day we were meant to dive Elphinstone, but the guide convinced us to go back to port and we only did 1 dive (instead of the 3) there. He asked us if we would rather dive from the boat or (broken) zodiacs, we said boat and then he told the captain to leave Elphinstone. With all the fires on boats lately and the sad stories of the Aggressor in the Red Sea, the accident in California, etc. I would stay away from these guys. Definitely no care for safety. Had anything actually happened on this trip it would have been very dangerous. They were smoking by the Oxygen tanks (also by the equipment), no fire detectors, leaky rooms. Stay away.

Best diving I’ve ever done
The guide, Peter, had so much knowledge about the different sites and animals that lived there. Thanks to him, and a fair share of luck, we found so much amazing marine life. The crew is always joking around and they are very helpful. The food was almost too amazing, the chef really puts a lot of effort into every meal and it definitively pays off. Such a great liveaboard for a good price! Will absolutely be back.

Awesome 1st livaboaed experience
It is nice to dive with JP marine. It is my 1st liveboard but definitely not the last one . Met a bunch of great divers from all over the world and by the end of trip , we all feels like a big family. The boat crews are really friendly and helpful. The only down side is that in some nights the cabin AC was not functioning 100% so it was a little hot. And I wish the the ratio between the divers and guide should be around 6-7 to 1 but not 13 to 1 in my trip.

Amazing !!!!!!!!
This was an amazing trip. The Red Sea diving experience was incredible. We saw Giant Mantas, Hammerheads, Oceanic White Tips, loads of barracudas, tunas, rays, Napoleon fish, Moray Eels, and incredible coral reefs. We swam with a pod of dolphins, during a night dive we saw a Spanish Dancer. The crew was amazing and Peter the dive guide did an excellent job keeping us informed, and safe. The food on board was incredible, and all transfers were seamless. I highly recommend JP Marine. The value for the money was definitely there. There are more luxurious boats, but if you are interested in great service, and great diving I highly recommend JP Marine.

An awesome experience!!
Lots of Hammerhead sightings, Mantas and reef sharks. Reefs are huge, vertical drops. Current is strong, makes it a little challenging for the divers who are not used to it (like me). More weights help a little to make you negatively buoyant when descend. Guides and the dive plans are well organized. We did 18 dives overall, 4 dives some days. The staff overall is pretty much helpful, caring, and funny. The food was great! Sun deck is great after dark, can see so many stars. Take some music (EDM or whatever) with you in a USB drive, definitely will help you to party after dinner. The boat is a little old, so are the cabins and zodiacs. But overall It was an awesome experience.

Second great dive cruise with JP Marine
Rocky and Zabargad dive sites which we hadn’t yet visited. Plus it was great to see the crew again. The mix of different nationalities was definitely a plus. The organization of the dives by Peter (the guide) plus the fact that he was aware of the different dive capacities of each diver was very reassuring. He is the best dive guide I have met in 400 dives in the Red Sea

Beautiful south of the Red Sea
This itinerary offers different types of dives, some of them really beautiful. I only regret that in the couple of the years when I keep returning to the Red Sea the life is disappearing from the reefs, partially because of waste waters being sometimes disposed directly on the dive sites (eg washing the deck with chlorine cleaning product). Also the quality of services offered on this boat has decreased with time and required tip increased.

Had a wonderful time on JP marine - it was a real mixed group and turned out to be a total blast! The crew was amazing and kind and even surprised me with a cake for my birthday!! The food was endless and delicious and the diving was of course spectacular (hello hammerheads for 3 days in a row). My ONLY complaint would be size of diving group was rather large. But I still had a wonderful time and for the price point it’s just excellent value for money! Do it!

Fantastic Crew, Great Boat
Ahmed the mechanic is nothing short of a hero - 'Mr. Nitrox' truly deserves his name! Lots of good dives with some decent marine life, however we only had 1 'excellent' dive (where we saw a single hammer up close). Dive groups were a little large at 14 divers to 1 guide... The guides were excellent, but using their local knowledge and expertise to spot creatures in the reef was almost impossible due to the amount of people around you!

the highlights of the trip were the friendliness and helpfulness of the crew and guides. The diving was excellent and well organised and safe. the boat is a little tired and in need of some improvements, my bed was continually wet from a leaking ceiling, but I am sure the staff would have done something to resolve this if I had complained. I really enjoyed this itinerary and JP Marine in general. They are working hard to make everyone enjoy the trip. They kept their promises, when the taxi driver who was taking me to the airport was few minutes late they called him without being asked (unusual in Egypt). I would only suggest to stress more in the trip description that this itinerary is difficult (currents, waves, sharks, depth) and is recommended for experienced divers only.

the best diving of our lives
We went on this BDE trip specially to see the sharks, a little apprehensive of the claims since we have never managed to see these large predators in our diving around the world, and kept asking the operator and the crew prior to the trip if we would surely see the sharks. Am glad to say that were not disappointed at all, there were sharks everywhere - the oceanic white tips at the brothers, the hammerheads, black tip reef sharks and mantas at the daedalus and hammerheads again at elphinstone reef. The JP marine boat and crew were fantastic, the boat was big and clean, the rooms and bathrooms adequate, the diving off the boat and the zodiacs very well managed, the crew was outstanding and very friendly - just had to ask for anything and it was provided. The food was great, we were 7 vegan divers from India but yet the chef and kitchen staff ensured we had adequate choices at every meal. But most importantly, the reefs and this BDE trip was simply superb and the visibility well over 200 feet, can say that we had the best diving experience of our lives. We will surely be back on the JP Marine for the North red Sea Wreck Safari later this year. The 7 of us were also less experienced divers with 10-150 dives each, we hired a private dive guide per the suggestion of liveaboard, and this worked out very well and we could dive within our comfort zone, would suggest this option to all who plan to take this trip

Perfekt!

quality matches the price
Amazing healthy reefs, several hummers on Daedalus, very calm and warm weather for early March. But: - Very short dive time by the rule of the owner. Most of the dives were 40 minutes only, even if every diver in the group has 100bar in tank. - There was no place for rinsing equipment after safari - Not a major factor but you can't buy alcohol on the boat (even beer), but of course you can buy it in advance on shore - Bad visibility for Egypt (but it's not a fault of vessel or crew of course)

- Helpful crew, good food, perfect reefs
Good boat but bad timing for a BDE trip.
I have seen Red Sea much more colorful and with lots of sharks before, however since this was just the beginning of the season not so many big fish encounters. On the other hand the sea was extremely calm and sun was shining. Pity that we could not make drift dives.

Twice the charm! I booked again and enjoyed it even more! What a wonderful boat!
1) Actually, the food is the main reason I’m back on JP Marine and I’m not even one who is fussy when it comes to food! Perhaps it’s because the large presence of French divers who know and like to eat good food, I felt like I was in a fancy restaurant at every meal! Also, talking about personalized service, e.g.; the steward found out that I like double fried eggs with runny yolks and I got this every morning without asking! And they do that for all the guests on a dive boat! Remember that we were not a cruise ship! Also all birthdays, and special occasions are celebrated, with cakes and whole dining filled with intricate food crafting! They make you feel like part of a big family! 2) The sharks were everywhere, not your usually tame reef, white-tipped or nurse sharks in the Caribbean, we are talking about potential man-eater huge Oceanic White Tip, thresher and hammerheads here! Some days they were more elusive than others, but most days, they made their presence known, especially in the deeper dives. Very thrilling! Red Sea have changed me from a diehard macro (little critters on reefs and corals) lover to shark-chaser! Since it is so affordable, I’ll be back on this boat, for sure! Brothers, Daedalus, Elphistone, here I come! 3) Captain, crew and guide are the best! Very knowledgeable and caring, ever pleasant and work so hard! Once when there was an engine problem, the crew did not even sleep until it was properly fixed so our diving was not interrupted! Our dive guide, Malaat, knows the areas like the back of his hands and shows us everything that the Red Sea could offer! Thank You, guys!

Wonderful boat, great food and very helpful fellow divers!
1) Pelagic, pelagic, pelagic…sharks everywhere: many Longimanus, some right next to the ‘JP Marine’! Scary---can you imagine jumping right into the ocean and encounter a 10-ft.long shark literally face-to-face?!! Though they seem to be more interested in our bubbles than anything else…thank goodness! Even saw a hammerhead way below once. Saw lots of fat tuna, school of dolphins, and even a dugong (sea cow) while snorkeling. 2) ‘JP Marine’ is mainly a liveaboard chartered by a group of avid French + Belgian mature divers who know the area inside out as they’ve dove up and down the Red Sea, some for 35+ years! Esp. if you could converse in French, you could pick their brain for all kind of tips and knowledge of the area! Even me here with no French , I still made friends with them and learnt from them as they are very friendly and most willing to share their immense knowhow of the marine life there! They even made a very professional video, chronicling the Sept. dive trip and sent it to me! I’d love to dive with those guys again! 3) The food is the best of the all the many liveboards I’ve gone to in the world! The young Nubian chef cooks like a 5-star hotel chef---every meal! (I think I actually gained weight after that liveaboard even though I was diving like a maniac daily there! 4) The crew work very hard! They are away from their families who live in other part of Egypt and only get to see them like once every 3-4 months! They bend over backward to help us and keep the boat running in tip top shape. There is the master mechanic on the boat, Ahmed, who could fix anything and often repairs whatever us divers broke during our many dives. The crew deserve a big raise!
