Dive packed and great value
Dive guides and crew were just awesome, the itinerary was also very good. Boat size was good as was the number of divers we had which was under the max, we had 17, anymore would feel very cramped. Great value for the money.

Wonderful Red Sea trip with new friends
I loved the beautiful soft and hard corals. I would say this coral might even be superior to The Great Barrier Reef. Lots of schools of fish: triggerfish, banner fish, butterfly fish, bat fish, tuna, snapper, etc. It was amazing seeing a school of yellow snapper that seemed to go on for miles!! Huge napoleon! Schools of dolphins who "performed" for us and looked very happy! Beautiful Gorgonian fans. The multiple nationalities we had as passengers made it so fun! The boat crew were great. The diving allowed for independence and guided dives, whichever you were comfortable with.

A really fun adventure- I’d highly recommend it!
Not having dove for a while, I found the the dive guides very patient and helpful- they helped get my diving skills back up to par quickly. Diving and interacting with a pod of dolphins was amazing, as was exploring many of the wrecks. A superb trip!

First time Diving the Red Sea
Having only 10 guest on a boat that accommodates 25 was very good for livability and diving. The diving itinerary was good for my first visit to the Red Sea, and we even saw Thresher sharks in the distance. The food, diving and rest schedules were well thought out too.

Best all around dive experience
Encountering dolphins, twice. Meeting new divers from all over the world. Diving on some of the most amazing wrecks in the Red Sea. Getting to dive the sites before any of the day-boats got there was always a huge plus. The crew had all of the locations very well planned out.

Great crew and staff; good diving; boat definitely ready for dry dock
The crew and staff were fantastic; always helping wherever there was an opportunity, whether it was putting on a wetsuit or handing out a beverage after each dive. They also spent a lot of the trip trying to remedy an overwhelming scent of diesel fuel which permeated the cabin and made sleep difficult for most of the nights. They never fully solved the issue and the cabin was only free of the fumes on a couple of evenings. The food was good throughout the week, and the diving was solid despite the time of year. The highlights were the wrecks and the thresher that made an appearance at Little/Small Brother (our other half of the group saw a hammerhead the day prior at Big Brother).

Modern boat, great crew
First a review of Echo boat. It's nice and modern, most cabins are at or above main deck, so you get better ventilation. A few cabins are very tight, but they have plenty of storage. The trip itself was good due to the highlights of encountering the sharks, but about 1/3 of the diving is mundane reefs on the way to/from the main attractions. Unfortunately, it seems like due to regulations, they can't spend more time the good dive sites, so you'll get to dive some filler boring reefs for 2.5 days.

Amazing boat and even better crew
The crew leader/dive guide, Sonia, is fantastic; so knowledgeable and experienced. She has an amazing way with people and made everyone feel comfortable and well cared for as well as bringing a great sense of humour to the trip. The second dive guide, Eric, is also very helpful and is great at balancing a laid-back attitude with an attention to safety. The rest of the crew are amazingly helpful and diligent. They are constantly cleaning and helping out all the customers. They will help you get kitted/unkitted every dive and it’s so nice to be greeted with a warm drink every time you come out the water. The boat itself is beautiful. Comfortable rooms with A/C and hot showers. Plenty of areas to relax inside and outside the boat. The quality of the furnishings was also surprisingly good. Last but not least, the food! The most delicious 3 course meals 3 x a day as well as lovely cooked snacks during the day (I was a particular fan of the samosas). I would pay good money for this quality of food in a restaurant so to be treated to it 3 x a day every day is a real luxury.

Great but not perfect
Overall the liveaboard experienced is what I expected. However. A Certain" crew seamen on my boat, if maybe having an "off day" or just having no patients, can show a very bad attitude, even to the point of cursing in their own language thinking the guest will understand. I can tolerate this, but here are certain reactions that I feel was unacceptable to the point I wanted to say something to that person.

Horrible cabin n1. Fumes of diesel and an old vessel
The fumes of Diesel in our cabin stayed for days and got us a headache. Nothing to be done of cours during the trip, and no real satisfactory reply and remedies after the trip apart from a small discount if we book again. What? Never again with the Emperor fleet. That is for sure. Thistlegorm was amazing and so are all dives, but that is so on every boat. The review should be about the boat, the crew, the food, and then , yes the dives, which are always very nice in Egypt.

- The dives are great and so are the dive guides who let you according to your certificate, dive alone (with a buddy) crew was nice too. Apart from that horrible cabin which stayed for days into the trip. Eventually we tried to not be affected by the smell and have some fun. We had.

Just loved living on a boat again diving most of the day
It'd been almost 10 years ago since my last liveaboard and I loved it and had great memories and therefore high expectations for this trip. I was not disappointed. The crew members where very helpful and friendly. The food was better then I expected, but for the food I gad low expectations. Most members of the group where friendly and considered of each other dispite great differences in diving experience. The boat is a few years old and you can tell but it's not bad just a little worn here and there. If you enjoy wrecks there are plenty on this trip. Sometimes it could feel a bit crowned under water especially on the popular divesites like the Thistlegorm and this was the low season. Over all just loved living on a boat again diving for most of the day!!

Excellent liveaboard with great dives
We booked the reef and wreck tour, the itinerary was varied and interesting with plenty to see. The crew and dive guides were all welcoming and made the boat feel like your home for the week. We dived in March and most guest on board were surprised how cold the water was, 18 to 20 degrees. We were supplied with 7mm wetsuits and were consistently cold after dives in the north Red Sea, recommend additional insulation if susceptible to cold.

Very very poor liveaboard
None - very unsatisfactory even for a middle range liveaboard. No cold beer on boat on day of arrival - no welcome drink or opportunity to meet other guests on first night socially Ice only provided occasionally Our room was very poor with a flood from the portholes half way through the trip saturating all our clothes in sea water (we had two day city break in Athens afterwards and had tide marks and stained clothing). Crew did not attempt to assist with drying our clothes Bins in bathroom emptied sporadically (cannot flush paper in toilet) - Only had hot/medium hot water once for a shower in our room Only soap provided was liquid handwash - I had to find a bar of soap from another guest and one of the crew let me have some shampoo I had diarrhoea from day two of the trip that lasted throughout and still does - this meant I lost 4 dives and felt/feel very unwell Food was very poor and I believe not kept properly - this excludes the deserts which were very well made and presented. Itinerary was not put up to give the guest the plan for the day. More than once when I asked the dive leader the dive times I was advised I would be told later - she has since apologised Limited number of dive sites (we did the Thistelgorm 4 times) Bedlinen was not changed nor were beds made during the week. The sheets were in a very poor condition Our room number 1 was directly above engines and there was a constant smell of diesel. Our Nitrox fills were usually only 30% and not the standard 32% We told the dive leader on our arrival that we would like a different room (we were given room 1) and that we were longstanding Emperor guests (15 years +) but she did not believe us and said later that we had only booked twice previously. It seems that if you do not book with Emperor direct they disregard you. The last night of the trip when we were due to leave the boat to go into town we had to wait to have a chat with the CEO. We were very unhappy about this as we were not given the opportunity to decline and furthermore we were unable to raise issues as the dive leader also participated in the meeting which meant we would have had to confront and be critical to her face/personally. We will not be travelling again with Emperor. The treatment we received was very poor and displayed a total lack of customer care. If a guest advises that they have been travelling on a boat numerous times previously, I recommend the company defaults to accept the assertion rather than confront the guest that they were lying!!!! Shockingly bad. I did not mention the lewd manner of the "Gas Man" who stared unashamedly at female guests, commented in whispered voice, and made inappropriate physical contact. This I raised during the trip and was told that the crew member would be approached regarding this.
