Highlights

  • Snorkel with whale sharks and sea lions
  • Kayak through beautiful mangroves
  • Visit whale breeding and birthing lagoons
  • Listed with US National Register of Historic Places

Join the MV Westward for an exciting small ship cruise to Baja California, Mexico, from December through April. From shorter 5-day to extended 12-day trips, Baja California offers nature lovers the perfect chance to explore this amazing area. The Sea of Cortez was referred to as the 'world's aquarium' by Jacques Couteau, and it's easy to see why. Guests can snorkel with gentle whale sharks, swim with playful sea lions, and kayak through mangroves. Some itineraries include an overland visit to Baja Magdalena or San Ignacio, which offer exciting up-close whale encounters in these grey whale breeding and birthing lagoons. Trips include island-hopping around the National Park, hiking and visiting colonies of frigate birds, and snorkeling with hundreds of colorful fish in the clear blue waters.

Topside, the MV Westward offers everything to ensure a comfortable journey. Catering to just 8 guests, each of 4 cabins is en-suite with a sink, shower, and toilet. The cabins are also fitted with one double and one single bunk and a settee. All cabins also have portholes that open to the lovely sea air. For relaxation, guests can choose the indoor salon, dining area, or open-air back deck area. The back deck is a great place to relax and enjoy the views and sea breeze whilst recounting the day's adventures. Meals can be served al-fresco and are prepared fresh by the onboard chef, using as many unprocessed, organic, and locally sourced ingredients as possible.

The MV Westward was designed by the naval architect L.E. 'Ted' Geary and is now listed with the US National Register of Historic Places. Her history has been well documented since her launch in 1924, when she pioneered hunting, fishing, and adventure travel in Alaska. Whilst there is no AC aboard Westward, it is unnecessary as the ship's design allows cool air to flow freely through the vessel. This allows for a peaceful night's sleep with no noisy generator and only the sound of leaping rays or breathing whales.

A cruise to Mexico aboard the MV Westward is a fantastic option and will deliver a lifetime trip. Book online today to reserve your space.

The MV Westward also visits Alaska from May - September.
