De MV Humboldt Explorer, van de Explorer Ventures Vloot, biedt ongelooflijke duikervaringen in de Galapagos het hele jaar door. Volledig gerenoveerd in de Lente van 2023, is het schip een van de veiligste, modernste en comfortabelste liveaboards in de Galapagos. Humboldt Explorer biedt 8 dubbele of tweepersoonskajuiten op de boven- of benedenverdieping. Alle kamers hebben privé badkamers en suite, individueel regelbare airconditioning, en een TV. De salon met airconditioning op het hoofddek heeft een entertainment-/mediagebied en een grote lounge. Maaltijden worden in het eetgedeelte van deze salon geserveerd, waar gasten kunnen genieten van uitzichten op de Galapagoseilanden. Maaltijden zijn een mix van Amerikaanse en lokale gerechten. Andere opmerkelijke gebieden zijn het bovendek met zonnebedden, een bar, een al-fresco eetgedeelte, en een bubbelbad om op te warmen tussen de duiken.
Humboldt Explorer biedt ook een unieke 7-nachten/8-dagen reisroute; het is het enige Galapagos liveaboard dat 4 dagen duiken met pelagische soorten bij de eilanden Darwin en Wolf aanbiedt. Het duikdek is uitgerust met individuele uitrustingsopslag, een grote cameratafel en oplaadstation, en een aparte zoetwater spoeltank voor onderwater camera-apparatuur. Duiken gebeurt vanaf twee grote tenders; nitrox is beschikbaar voor degenen die gecertificeerd zijn. De Humboldt Explorer liveaboard biedt ongelooflijke duiken in de Galapagos het hele jaar door. Het hoogseizoen is van juli tot november wanneer de omstandigheden kouder zijn, de stromingen sterker, en het zicht lager, maar dit is de beste kans om walvishaaien te zien bij het duiken bij Darwin en Wolf. Het laagseizoen is van december tot juni wanneer de stromingen niet zo sterk zijn, het zicht helderder is, en het water warmer. Hamerhaaien, adelaarsroggen, zeeleeuwen, Galapagos en zijdehaaien, en enorme scholen met vissen zijn over het algemeen het hele jaar aanwezig.

Unreal dive trip to the outer Galapagos Islands
The schooling hammerheads were incredible, and we even got a whale shark that stayed late in the season. A few tiger sharks, schools of eagle rays, plenty of dolphins, turtles, and sea lions. The food was great and the fresh snacks and juice right when you got out of the water was much appreciated. The crew even got a fresh caught tuna from a passing fishing boat and served sashimi. Comfortable beds and plenty of hot water for showers. The land excursions were terrific as well and definitely rounded out the complete Galapagos trip.

Really positive experience
--Dives were fantastic with flexibility. We saw everything from massive amounts of sharks to turtles to manta rays to eels. The sea lions are super social. I honestly don't know how you would experience Galapagos without being on a liveaboard. The Humboldt vessel was near perfect, except maybe TOO much air conditioning indoors. I'll forgive them for that. I was cold pretty much the whole time! --I wrote my internal review to the company before the land excursion; the land excursion on Santa Cruz was kind of meh (visiting the turtles). Not the cruise company's fault. --On Humboldt, the crew was super cheerful, delightful, very cohesive, and seemed to love their jobs/lives. It was idyllic. This was the most advanced dive experience that I've had. The expectation was that we'd handle our own BCD setup and gear prep. The dives were tough with the currents. You definitely needed that 100-plus dive experience. It was also 1 dive guide for 8 divers. This was very different than my last (and only other) liveaboard experience. The last one in Thailand had a ratio of 1 guide to two or three divers. In that case, the divers were newer and burned through air in 20 minutes. This advanced dive experience was better with no drama on ear pressure, masks, buoyancy, or temperature. We stayed down for upwards of 55 minutes. --Food amazing. So many fresh fruits and vegetables. Seafood delicious. --There was always hot coffee and hot water for tea. Loved this. --I'm really happy with the whole experience.

Humboldt Explorer made my first Liveaboard experience a success!
The Humboldt is the only boat in Galapagos to spend 4 days between Wolf and Darwin. The dives were the best I’ve ever done, the guides prioritize safety , and the crew makes getting ready for each dive a fun and efficient experience. Besides the diving, the food is delicious and frequent, cabins are comfortable, and the hot tub and sun deck upstairs are an awesome place to relax.

Trip of a lifetime!
The entire week! Most of the dives were like a dream we had an amazing week with good visibility. Sea life an abundance of hammerheads 7 whale sharks and water was warmer than it was supposed to be. The crew was amazing helping everyone at all times. The chef will make sure you don’t starve (food was delicious) and accommodate for people with allergies!

compared to what I heard, a dud
dove the same spot at darwin pillars 4 times. It would have been better to go to a different dive site as there was not much activity there. Was told I had to do Nitrox even though I didn't sign up for it, that there was no air on the boat. Expect to pay more than you already did for the trip as the week progresses. Bring extra cash.

Once in a lifetime experience!
Whale sharks! We were on the front end of whale shark season and got both warmish water and lots of whale shark sightings. The crew was always available to help divers get ready for dives and stripping down. They cleaned our gear for us and hung it to dry so our suitcases didn't smell terrible when we got home. I can't say enough good things about the Humboldt Explorer. They were very focused on ensuring each diver had a good experience.

Exceeded expectations
Our 2 groups had a total of 21 whale shark sightings which was so amazing. The diligence of the crew to make sure that we were always happy and comfortable was very much appreciated. Loved the land excursion with the tortoises at the end.
