Stap aan boord van de Discovery II voor een onvergetelijke duikvakantie in de Rode Zee. Het schip is in 2018 compleet gerenoveerd, waarmee ze nu een licht en modern onderkomen biedt aan 22 duikers in 11 cabines. Er bevinden zich 6 standaard cabines met twee eenpersoonsbedden op het onderdek. Daarnaast is hier ook een Honeymoon suite te vinden. De andere 4 Honeymoon suites bevinden zich op het bovendek. Alle cabines zijn uitgerust met en-suite badkamers, airconditioning en genoeg opbergruimte. In de Honeymoon suites zijn daarnaast nog een minibar, een entertainmentsysteem en grotere bedden te vinden. Op het hoofddek bevindt zich een lichte en met airconditioning uitgerust restaurant en salon. Ten slotte bevinden de outdoor lounge en bar zich op het bovendek, waar gasten de dag op een prettige manier kunnen afsluiten. Het bovenste dek heeft een groot, gedeeltelijk overdekt zonnedek met ligbedden.
De reizen met de Discovery II duren normaal 7 nachten en varen langs de beste duikgebieden in Egypte. De reisroute door de Rode Zee is gedurende het hele jaar beschikbaar. Daarbij vaart zij langs duikspots als Straits of Tiran, Brothers, Ras Mohammed, Thistlegorm, Abu Nuhas, Brothers, Daedalus en Elphinstone. Het grote duikdek aan de achterkant van de boot maakt het makkelijk om uw uitrusting aan te trekken. Daarnaast zijn er nog twee tenders beschikbaar die duikers naar en van de duikspots vervoeren. Er is Nitrox beschikbaar voor gecertificeerde duikers.

geweldige crew en gidsen voor een geweldige ervaring
Mooie boottocht. Gidsen doen hun best om haaien te zien maar houden zich zeer strikt aan veiligheidsregels en aan respect voor hun koraalrif.

- crew en duikgidsen die echt hun best doen om er een mooie trip van te maken. Of het nu in het begin is, tijdens of het allerlaatste moment van de reis nadat alles reeds betaald is, ze blijven hun best doen. Het eten was ook echt de moeite. We hadden extra eten en drinken mee maar deze hebben we nauwelijks aangeraakt.

Great itinerary on a generally comfortable ship with diligent crew
1. Pick up / drop off was fantastic. Drivers were ready on time and brought me to/from the dive boat without any additional hassle. I arrived on a red-eye flight at 5am and understood I could not check-in until 4pm, but I wish I would have known that the dive boat schedule did not actually leave the pier until the morning of the 2nd day, meaning I could have checked in anytime before midnight--other guests arrived at 10pm--so the schedule wasn't clear. Guests were informed that "this is normal, we need to get park permits, etc." but the 2nd day required a return to the pier to "get a spare part for the engine." Fortunately there were no problems, but this was a rough start. 2. Hurghada pier: this isn't only the Discovery II ship's fault, but with so many divers and so much money going through here, it is strange that the pier is so tiny and basic. This is Egypt, after all, but the real problem started after arriving back at the pier on the last full day before check-out: fumes from the 8 idling dive boat engines made some of the downstairs cabins very "exhaust fume-y" and cannot possibly have been healthy. 3. The ship itself was comfortable with a functional dive deck, and relaxing areas, plus a galley that could serve up to 24 divers. It was crowded, but there was always enough food and it was good! The A/C worked in the cabins quite well on the first night, not at all on the second night and the Red Sea crossing to the dive sites was one of the roughest I've experienced. Crew was on hand with sea sickness meds as necessary, but sleep was impossible as the cabin shower door slammed from the motion of the ocean! 4. Dive Guides: there are world class dives, and the guides are pretty good for those divers without enough experience to DIY the dive sites. I prefer the guides, but I was having issues with the unfamiliar rental equipment, and as a relatively inexperienced diver who only goes once a year, I needed more attention on balancing to help my buoyancy. My problem, but I feel like the guides could have been more attentive on the initial check dive. My fault for not being more aggressive about explaining my issues up front. Overall: very satisfied to have done this, the crew and the guides generally gave a top effort and made the week's diving and vacation experience a good one. With a few tweaks, this could be an excellent experience.

Could not have had a better experience for my first liveaboard experience
Everything about the Discovery II was terrific. The cabins were clean and comfortable, boat was spacious with plenty of room to relax in post-dives, crew was AMAZING and extremely helpful, gear was in perfect shape, food was varied and delicious, and so much more. I highly recommend it.

Unforgettable Dive Safari
Everything was a highlight to us! It was our first liveaboard dive safari! It was well organized, well fed, friendly and attentive staff! The Samirah is a must for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!

Wonderful crew but very budget operation!
Dive guides were excellent and crew members were friendly but overall this was an extremely budget operations with many corners cut compared to previous live aboard experiences. Cabins are very basic and zodiac operation was not safe.

Exceptional diving with an outstanding and attentive crew.
The crew made the best of every opportunity. At one dive site there was a large pod of dolphins nearby. As we surfaced from our dive, the crew picked us up in the zodiacs and we followed the Dolphins throughout the area. It was an unplanned adventure that we all enjoyed thoroughly. The diving was breathtaking - fish in abundance and reefs that were extraordinary.

Amazing week with discovery liveaboards
Had a fantastic week with the Samira visiting the BDE route. Diving was great, the boat was new and spacious, food was out of this world. Would definitely go again!
