First liveaboard and a benchmark

We dove with over 15 manta rays and snorkeled with a whale shark. Bucket list experiences. On top of it, the crew did everything in their power to please us and the brand new boat is a beauty. I couldn't ask more from my first liveaboard and believe that I will struggle to find anything this good elsewhere.

Excellent from beginning to end!

The crew went out of their way to make this a great experience. The food was excellent and plentiful and always ready when we were hungry from diving. The dive crew made sure we had great dives. We had a comfortable and well equipped boat for the diving.

A truly awesome experience

We had an amazing time on the Carpe Novo. The diving was incredible. We saw a whale shark, guitar fish, leopard shark and just about everything in between. The dive crew - Hussein, Kooky and Fish made us feel safe and we had a great time. The crew on board the dhoni were also wonderful. We were never hungry on the boat and the food was consistently good. Our cabin (Thresher Shark) was spacious and the a/c worked well for us. We also had good wifi throughout the trip. Thank you Carpe Novo! We can't wait to come back!

Amazing diving thanks to a fantastic crew / dive guides to make our trip unforgettable!

Overall, we absolutely LOVED our trip & had cracking time. Positives: 1) The choice of dive site is amazing - From deep channel dives to meet sharks/rays to macro reef dives through discovery dives (whale sharks, mantas, hammerhead) 2) Crew & people on board. Had a great time with a great atmosphere. 3) Unlimited Nitrox 4) We had to postpone our trip last minute due to unfortunate events & the Carpe team changed our dates the day before arriving. We were impressed & extremely thankful for their efforts! 5) Liveaboard.com are an incredible service! -- Downsizes: 1) Don't come on this trip if you don't have Nitrox. Everyone on board was diving with it & without it, your diving experience will be severely impacts (note: Nitrox qualification on board = 190 USD) 2) Food waste particularly affected me. Although the food is amazing & the chef works with care on quality meals, there was a lot of food waste which I believe can be easily corrected. 3) 15 USD for internet on board is too much. The cost of the boat is already very high, I believe internet ought to be included (personally, refused to pay 15 USD)

Very good indeed: Very comfortable, friendly staff, well run boat.

The channel diving was a new experience for us. We have not done a long trip like this before, and we have really enjoyed ourselves. We really enjoyed being with other divers who shared the same interests as us. The crew really made us feel conformable and the trip very enjoyable to be on.

Fantastic boat, crew, divemasters and dive trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. A lot of sea life. Divemasters were very capable and knowledgeable and extremely personable. Staff worked very hard to make the passengers comfortable and enjoy the trip. One staff member I really appreciated was an individual on the dive boat who was constantly helping everyone with their equipment and had an eagle eye for any potential equipment malfunction.

Great trip....few suggestions

Our trip was during a full moon and some windy conditions so the viz was not that good. But we did see 2 whale sharks and a few mantas. Folks that had gone a few weeks earlier had beautiful conditions and saw many more manta than we did. Lots of fish and fun macro life. Current was manageable but strong on a few dives. Crew was fantastic. A few suggestions. Replace the top deck furniture. No reason to have broken chairs on the boat. The night dive is chaos. Yes, the nurse sharks are plentiful and huge but there are too many boats and divers there to really enjoy it. There has to be another site.... and I would say that repeating the channel dives to watch the sharks go by was not my favorite thing. I would prefer to dive a wall etc. Just seems like it is a big ocean and plenty of dive sites so that we could avoid the crowds. I did appreciate that we left the area where all the boats go to snorkel with the whale sharks. That place was a zoo with all the people in the water. Our captain took us further away and we were able to snorkel with a whale shark with just our group of divers. That was awesome. Overall it was a great trip. We just felt that there might be a few sites away from all the other boats. We were in the whale shark cabin and we enjoyed it. The folks in the tiger shark cabin had trouble with their a/c and an odor from the bathroom. Oh, one more suggestion. Give the guests some free WI FI the last day so that they can check in for their flights etc.

Great dive experience in the Maldives

Due to the remote location our expectations for food on the boat wasn't that high but we were pleasantly surprised by the abundance of fresh fruit & vegetable options available to us at every meal. The boat rooms are spacious with a large shower & bath. They are kept clean with daily service & fresh towels are provided. The true star of the show is the abundance of underwater life. Even though it wasn't the season (April), we had whale sharks along with many other kinds of shark, Manta rays, octopus, cleaning stations, macro life & a ton a reef fish. The underwater life is amazing & prolific. If I had the time I would have stayed another week like 4 other guests did! Thanks to Carpe Novo for a great experience.

Great trip despite rough conditions and no Whale Sharks

We had a great time on our trip - the wildlife on the reefs were fantastic. Conditions were a bit rough, which made for some interesting diving conditions, but overall the crew tried to make the best of what was available. Only issue was with communication underwater with our guides, as we had a minor incident where another guest blew their Deco limit. Overall a great trip.

Fantastic vessel and diving!

The carpe novo is an exceptional liveaboard vessel. It is well kept, comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. The crew was extremely helpful and friendly. they did a great job with explaining each dive site and briefing, and they were very thorough with terrain and dive planning. The food was not as diverse as I would've liked, but I also assume its difficult to get things there and we went during covid, so that wouldn't really stop me from recommending this ship! I would return to the maldives and the carpe novo in a heartbeat. Wonderful experience all around, even during challenging times.

Outstanding liveabord experience.

The Whaleshark dive is right at the top, not only did it fulfill a tick on our bucket list, it was an experience of 30 odd minutes that normally only lasts 3 or 4. All dives for us offered something different and this is what we came to do - loved every minute. Diving always makes you hungry. The food on board was excellent at every mealtime and we were very well looked after. Diving makes you tired and our cabin was a comfortable, spacious and welcome retreat with perfect view 😎

Great Location & Luxury Yacht

I loved this trip! Absolutely everything was organised and the communication prior to the trip (as well as during) was always prompt and included the necessary information. The highlights the trip for me where see a whale shark, many many manta rays, lots of different types of sharks I hadn't yet seen and octopus. The dive masters were quality. They took us to good sites and had a good knowledge of the areas we would be diving and what we could expect to see. I enjoyed that the tanks were always changed for us when it was time to do the next dive. There was a great variety of food served throughout the day. It was very hard to be hungry on this trip.

Awesome trip!

We had an awesome time on the Carpe Novo and would repeat in a heartbeat! Our first time in the Maledives and definitely not the last time, great diving! Service was incredible, you didn't even notice how and when they did it but everything you could think of was always prepared. You come back on board after the early morning dive and they are just carrying out of the kitchen the first plates of scrambled eggs :-) Dive guides really nice and knowledgeable and we were lucky to have awesome fellow guests, really good group of people. The standard of the boat is really high, cabins extremely spacious and the bathroom as luxurious as in a hotel - you wouldn't even think you're on a boat when you enter your cabin. The food was great, there was always a good mix of european and local cuisine and everything well prepared. They frequently caught fishes during the day and prepared sashimi for dinner - just awesome! Prices for drinks very reasonable (not like what I've heard from the Maledive resorts). All in all we had the best time and can only recommend! Big thumbs up!

First rate boat and crew, with excellent cuisine and super diving.

We hadn't dived before in strong currents - those are of course the norm here but the dive crew managed our three groups very well. Overall the approach of the dive and boat crew was that nothing was too much trouble. I can't think of anything to criticise or suggest could be improved. The mixture of coral life and the bigger creatures of the 'blue' dives was magical.

Spectacular vacation

The diving was out of this world, the crew and chef's could not have been any better and the boat is magnificent. Unfortunately the lower deck cabins are not very well ventilated and had strong diesel and cigarette fumes whenever the boat was not underway. When we requested a change of cabins the crew kindly agreed, unfortunately the second cabin was much the same.

Everything worked well starting from the pickup @ the airport, transfer, boarding, diving until the sad moment we had to leave... :( I wish the time would flow slower... We really had great experience with Carpe Novo. Diving met most of our expectations. Sadly we could not spot any whale shark. The reef & corals are not as rich as some other areas in SE Asia. But you get mantas.... a lot of them in exchange! I would very much recommend Carpe Novo.

A Great weeks Diving with a good mix of people from all countries!

The Crew, The Diving, The Food. This is my 4th livaboard and to be honest and give constructive criticism. To compare to the Scubaspa that I done last year I would say that your competition have the edge with the small details such as, fresh fruit and juice after every dive, more relaxation areas with a separate bar from the dining lounge which made for good socialising in the evening, a selection of free fresh fruit and soft drinks throughout the day (not just instant coffee, tea and biscuits) A shame we didn't get to go on to the island for a BBQ that's always a nice change and a chance to socialise with new people. Also would be nice to have a Jacuzzi!

Great boat, good and crew. Nice divesites in general, but fea dives in channels or currents, may be the reason why se saw much leas pelagic life than expected.

The Night dives, both at the jetty with the nurse shark and with the Manta. The healthy and numerous soft corals and reef life, the hard corals not in that healthy conditions as the soft. The rich and diverse reef life, de Mantas though ir big pelagic life, probably because of the weather, ir is the rainy season in August.

Recommended for: The boat itself is new, spatious, confortable, clean, silent.....by long far the Best Liveaboard I have been to. The good esa delicious, fresh, diverse, the fruit specially. The crew was very polite and helpful, and the dive guides were very professional.

Wonderful week on Carpe Novo

This was my first liveaboard trip, so I have little to compare against. But I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of my single suite and the entire boat really; by the great food 3 times a day, plus the occasional snack in between (!); the great dive sites and how reliably we found mantas, sharks, sting rays, eagle rays, and all sorts of fish life plus healthy coral reefs. There is literally nothing negative to say about this trip (ok, was not lucky enough to see whale sharks, but that is clearly nobody´s fault)

Recommended for: Very comfy room (single suite) - very good food every day - felt well taken care of in all aspects of the trip.

Incredible Tour

It is difficult to find highlights in a trip that was enchanting as this, so I let my guts do the talk: 1. Hanifaru Marine Park - after a "no-Manta-to-be-seen day" we got hit by 100-plus-Manta's news. Immediately hit the dinghy and jumped near a 30+ group of Mantas in the water.... The Mantas made the water boil, didn't know where to look. Guess a once in a lifetime experience 2. First experience with a group of silver tips just off the channel dive we were heading for. 3. First experience with some "playful and curious" nurse sharks. 4. Manta cleaning stations: We were not always lucky with the Manta's, but this is nature and no zoo. Once they were present, oh boy, what an overwhelming experience to watch these "carpets" fly by or simply hover over the cleaning station to get their cleaning treat. So many experiences leaving their imprint in my mind.... Difficult to resist the urge of immediately planning the next trip here. Highly recommend !!!!

Great experience!

We had a great time on Carpe Novo. Unfortunately, we have to skip some of the atolls due to bad weather, but the dive guides made sure we got our dives in anyway. Great local dive guides, high quality food and very comfortable vessels made this trip memorable!

Enjoyable 10 night trip

No doubt the best aspect of the liveaboard was the quality and variety of food served for each meal. Dive guides and Dhoni crew were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Everything else was very good but not outstanding. Although the newest boat to the fleet, it had seen better days in terms of maintenance/upkeep (we had trouble with the aircon in our cabin on arrival day).

LiveAbord Carpe Diem from May 22nd - May 29, 2021 The Carpe Diem is a good functional ship. The food is good and always sufficient in terms of quantity. The diving on the ship was good and the guides tried hard to make everything possible for the guest. Unfortunately, there is a lack of comfort for the time between dives. Even if you would like to have a little more comfort and a little more service, you also have to pay a little more. The Carpe Diem gets 3 out of 5 stars.

Memories for ever !

A really amazing experience. The reality was better than my expectations. We had everything, mantas, sharks, whale shark… Maldives are amazing. The crew is super friendly, my single room was very comfortable with an amazing panoramic window. Everything is very clean. I really recommend. And the evening on the beach is also a super memory. every thing was almost perfect except the highlight on the trip wasn't that accurate on the liveaboard.com website , the deep south it wasn't among the trip root.

Very good experience

We saw a Whale shark, diving with a lot of mantas staying over 60 minutes, lots of grey reef shark on several dives and night dive with plenty nurse sharks. Just amazing!

Great crew which was able to guide divers of various experiences and able to ensure everyone has a great time The whole crew was always friendly and able to put up a great show! Nothing short of perfect! Exceeded my expectations in terms of safety, food quality and diving! Would recommend this liveaboard to all.

Was OK

Crew was friendly but seems not very motivated Boat needs to be rennovated, or cleaned (had fungees in my room) No BBQ has been done, why so? By asking, it was mentioned that the island is already occipied?? Why, if it is written in the itenary, the island BBQ didnt took place? How could it be, that the island is not reserved by Carpe Novo?? By asking to do extra night dive instead, it was mentioned, that therefore it will be charged extra -> what will we get for the not organised BBQ (cause the island is occupied by others???) Food: generally was good and frehs, but in 7 days, 3 times Spagetthi Bolognese is not very much variants Its my 4th liveaboard at the Maledives with different companies, always a nice highlight, an island BBQ was organised. Never heard, that sorry, the island is occupied by others and therefore BBQ cannont take place. If something is written in the intnenary, and has also been charged for (we payed for that), this is no excuse

Not worth the money

Not many highlights sadly as the vis was terrible. OK not their fault. The diving was unsafe with no regards to safety guidelines as in one guide losing his group and returning to the dhoni. Our guide didn't check air on the dives I did and I returned with very low air (20 bar) twice. I stopped diving as I didn't feel safe or confident with them. Its the only time I have ever dived and they didn't record the air you had left at the end. They also fudged the depths in their records by only ever recording 30m despite our group going to 35m following the guide who couldn't find the pinnacle despite the briefing stating it was at 18m. No Fun or Safe diving when you are constantly swimming against the current and in poor visibility. The extra days to reach Baa & Raa Atols were not worth the time or effort. A very high price for mediocre food. I'm sorry but chicken nuggets are not acceptable. We were also disappointed to not be given a beach BBQ.

Recommended for: The curries were ok but repetitive. Food budget was clearly cheap.

Very good week, very good crew, very comfortable boat ; I would have appreciated more diversity with the food.

Everything went smootly according to the plan. Good dives although the visibility wasn't great this december 2021 (10 meters) but there's nothing that could be done, it was a global situation in the Maldives at that moment. Very nice meals for christmas eve. Fantastic raw fish but served only one evening because we asked. It should be put on the menu more frequently during the week as the crew is fishing a lot.

Recommended for: The double room was very comfortable. The divings are very well organized. Possibility to snorkle with a guide at least once a day for the ones who don't dive. Everything is well organized.

Stunning boat and diving

The boat is one of the best I have undertaken a trip on. Cabins are huge and the general areas are all well appointed and spacious. The dive itinerary was excellent and the dive guides were very impressive with the briefings and general support. Crew on the boat are 5 star.

Great diving holiday

Had a wonderful week of diving on Carpe Novo at end of March and the beginning of April 2022. Fantastic diving in the central atolls, with great company, beautiful weather, and top-notch service onboard the Carpe Novo. Our very professional dive guides showed us some of the best dive sites in the central atolls, with plenty of sharks, mantas, eagle-rays, turtles, and much more! I clearly recommend this trip and hope to come back one day soon!

Seeing big groups of sharks and mantas super close feeding for ages. A great group of like minded divers. Excellent dive guides and lovely crew with superb knowledge. Boat was luxurious and spotlessly clean . The food was also great . Fantastic experience . We will be back xx

Great crew and great diving!

The boat is very spacious. The single cabin is huge. The crew is amiable and competent. I recommend bringing your own fins as the rental gear is not the most comfortable.

We will recommend this live aboard to friends anytime, expectations were well exceeded.

The congregation of stingrays and sharks near Male was impressive, loved watching the Mantas at the cleaning station with garden eels below, being surrounded by nurse sharks (and others) was supercool, the whalesharks feeding at night in Ari Atoll was definitely a highlight, ghost pipe fish in corals were very exciting, frogfish, leaf fish, turtles, cannot list it all. snorkeling with 40-50 Mantas in Hanifaru bay topped it all. Loved the night dive at yellow wall. The crew were very kind, attentive and supportive. I appreciated the surprise birthday decorations and cake to share with other divers. That was really unexpected. The food was outstanding throughout the trip. The boat and Dinghy were always clean. The crew put tremendous effort into a beautiful beach dinner and setting on an island. The food again was incredible. We also appreciated clean towels for after diving every day. I likely forgot other highlights. Bottom line: absolutely loved the trip with Carpe Novo and crew.

Recommended for: Great dive spots (for both big and small wildlife), delicious food, spacious and comfortable boat and rooms

Fantastic Trip on an excellent boat

This 42 m boat offers a lot of space as is, however, we were only 6 guests on the trip. Yet the staff and dive guides were all very attentive and accesible. We were hunting for whale sharks and managed to swim with 2. The mantas were really cool as well!
