Wonderful Tuamotos

Highlights were diving South Fakarava (shark wall) and the shark night dive. Being anchored in a pristine atoll and looking up at the Milky Way at night. Outstanding food. Dive deck is well organized. 25 divers seemed like a big group, but when spread between 2 zodiacs and 4 dive teams, it seemed like a much more intimate experience. Very well-run operation.

The Tuamotos in French Polynesia feel a million miles away from civilization. The pelagics here are fantastic---more sharks than I've seen anywhere, plenty of manta rays, a few eagle rays, massive schools of Big Eye, Jacks, Barracuda. Dive and boat crew were professional, friendly, experienced and had great judgement. Even though we had a few dives in very strong currents, I always felt that the divers were well looked after and that safety was paramount. Food on the boat is outstanding too.

A beautiful trip with LOTs of sharks.

The staff was beyond accommodating and helpful. Everyone you would come into contact with always wanted to help and genuinely seemed to care about how your day was going! The food was really good including a nice variety daily. The diving though quite challenging at some of the passes was beyond expectations. Lots of sharks, a few mantas, and dolphins were really the highlights for me. I would love to go back again someday!!!

A fabulous for an old man

I am 74 years old and I haven't dove much in recent years, so I was worried that I wouldn't have the muscle to dive these strong currents successfully. Moreover, I had to rent almost everything and was unfamiliar with the gear. WHAT A SURPRISE! I couldn't believe the massive amount of assistance I received from the dive guides! They helped me get geared-up and in the water. They helped during the dive. They helped me get out of the water and out of my gear. A special mention to Anouk and Dora for all the assistance. Even at 74 years old, I wasn't the oldest diver there! If diving with hundreds (or thousands) of sharks, day and night, in the most beautiful water in the world is on your bucket list, do it now. What a thrill!

Great trip, and loved the sharks and mantas!

The friendly mantas were awesome. The south pass of Fakarava dives were truly great! The crew and dive crew were great as well. Only complaints were with the boat layout. The camera area was inadequate. There were seven of us with cameras, and two of us had to do all of our camera gear work in our rooms because there was no space in the camera area. My other complaint with the layout was that the cabins were smaller than they should have been. I was fortunate enough to not have a roommate, but if I had a roommate, I don't know where I would have put my camera gear. There were underused areas on this big boat, and areas where the space was totally inadequate.

sharks. mantas, and the people.

Excellence comes at a price

Fakarava and Rangiroa atolls were the best and also the first and last sites of the trip. In retrospect may have been better to just stay at these spots and use land based operators

An incredible experience - fantastic diving, great crew and dive team.

This was our first liveaboard so we have nothing to compare it against, but far exceeded expectations. The boat has been newly refurbished and the common areas (inc sun deck) were great. The crew and dive guides were fantastic - creating a superb atmosphere. And the diving was outstanding - well managed, incredible sights and such a great all round experience.

Suggerito a:
Drift diving, the wall of sharks and a superb atmosphere on board.

Wall of Sharks

This was our third trip to the Tuamotu Islands, but our first on a live-aboard there. The live-aboard gave us the opportunity to visit some different atolls as well as Fakarava and Rangiroa. We dived at 5 different atolls and all were terrific. The diving is amassing! If you are a shark fan who likes to dive with hundreds of them, then this is the place for you. Diving is best when there is a strong current flowing into an atoll's lagoon as the grey reef sharks congregate in the passage then, sometimes creating a thick "wall of sharks". White tips, black tips, tigers, and hammers were also seen on this trip. We saw mantas, eagle rays, big schools of barracuda, and much more. Also at Rangiroa there are often close dolphin encounters at Tiputa Pass. We have dived with them every trip there. The Tuamotu Islands is on my top ten list of great dive locations for large marine life, along with places such as the Galapagos and Socorro Islands, places that get more than one visit. We will return.
