Dive Sites and Areas of Turkey
Whilst very few liveaboards are currently operating dive tours from Turkey, those that do can take divers to spots not usually accessible by the day boats operating from dive centres around the country. A selection of some areas visited by Turkish liveaboards are below;
Fethiye
Fethiye is located in the southwestern area of Turkey and is usually the departure port for liveaboards operating in the area. The coastline offers various diving opportunities including caverns and some attractive reef areas. Some dive areas visited include Kizilada, Amphores Bay, Sariyarlay Wreck and Aquarium Bay.
The waters around Fethiye can be choppy but visibility and dive conditions are usually good. Turkey is well known for its consistent sightings of Octopus, Barracuda and Grouper. The topography of the dive sites can vary from rocky caverns to wrecks to corals giving a mixed variety of dives to keep divers entertained.
How to Get There and Port of Departure
Flights to Turkey are widely available from most international destinations into Istanbul where transfer to departure ports can be arranged locally. The nearest airport to Fethiye is Dalaman just North of Fethiye and most European countries have direct flights here. Please check your chosen itinerary for full details of the departure port.
