an unforgettable experience I will definitely repeat in the future
The incredibly friendly, funny and routined crew on board made our life on the Junk as easy and comfortable as possible and supported us any time with everything they could do to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Rental equipment on board was good, crew members can handle any required maintenance or adaptation, if required, very well. Diving sites, dive group sizes and dive guides were very experienced and made every dive into another interesting discovery tour. Living on The Junk for this one week was an unforgettable experience. The sleeping cabin was very nice, clean and comfy. Best of all: the incredibly delicious food on board that was freshly cooked and differed every day. Also for vegan and vegetarian guests the selection of meals was excellent.

The Junk liveaboard pros & cons 12/30/2025 - 1/5/2026 trip
12/30/2025 - 1/5/2026 Pros: the crew was absolutely impeccable with their efficiency, attentiveness, and friendliness. Dive guides are professional and safe. All gas and tank filling were done to standard and in a timely manner. Food was amazing and in abundance. All cabins had ensuite full bath with hot showers at all times. Richelieu dive sites are absolutely incredible and worth repeated dives across multiple days; I would personally do 90% of the dives in Richelieu on the liveaboard. Cons: it was hit or miss with the level of enthusiasm from the dive guides during the dives. My group had a great dive guide (Jai) who actively searched for sea life to show us and was excited to teach us about the Andaman Sea geography and sea creatures all the while maintaining a high safety standard. Other groups had much less enthused guides and subsequently had a poorer dive experience. The sail of the Junk were not put up during our trip, which is such a shame as this unique ship is what sets itself apart from other liveaboards in the region. Diving in the Similan Islands were largely the same among all sites, lacking variety in both underwater geography and sea life encounter. 2 dives in the Similans would suffice.
