Liveaboard Diving in Pescador

What To Expect On a Pescador Liveaboard

Liveaboard diving in Pescador offers incredible island scenery as a backdrop to your liveaboard cruise with the chance of dolphins swimming in the clear waters nearby. Pescador is an island with rich green landscape and beautiful cliffs on the coastline, this island can be reached on a choice of luxury philippines liveaboards. It sits between both Cebu and Negros in the TaƱon Strait. The name of this island Pescador or 'fishermen' island comes from its Spanish heritage and the liveaboard dive trips here offer an abundance of fish living on the reefs around this island. This island also affords a beautiful view of the clear seas surrounding it or up to its lighthouse from your liveaboard dive trip.

Liveaboard Diving from Pescador

Off the coast of the island lies a fringing reef covered in soft coral from 5 -10m that drops to a deeper wall going to about 40m and covered in hard corals. Liveaboard dive cruises around Pescador allow you to enjoy everything this reef has to offer. You will enjoy up to 4 dives per day on a philippines dive trip meaning you have time to fully appreciate Pescador Island to diving in the drift currents and experiencing all the sea life this rich volcanic underwater environment has to offer. You can enjoy either side of the island diving with the drift current from south to north and on a liveaboard it is possible to see both sides in one day. With visibility up to 40m diving at Pescador Island has a lot of sights to offer: many schools of fish living there, 2500+ species of fish (hence the island's name), dense corals and sharks have known to be spotted here too. Also check out the diversity here on your dive safari including the resident school of sardines who have recently returned to the island's reef following a short time away after the 2012 earthquake. This is encouraging the larger predatory sealife to return to the area as well.

Often the diving around Pescador Island has many surprises. A large underwater cave off the west coast, the Cathedral is an interesting site to visit with fascinating rock formations under the water. Along the reef keep your eyes peeled for the distinctive frogfish amongst the beautiful colours of corals and look carefully for brightly coloured nudibranches. The white tip reef shark is often spotted here and for lucky divers thresher sharks and whale sharks have been known to show up at Pescador Island. You will often find here the massive school of sardines, who will create a tornado around divers, so enjoy your dive safari with this spectacular sight.

Very pretty coral gardens. In Moal Boal, shimmering shoals of sardines was something all divers would love to see.
