Expect also to find the more interesting frogfish, skeleton shrimp, mimic octopus, pipe horses, and cockatoo wasp fish at this site.

Mamsa Point Often a drift dive in strong currents, you will be happy to see 10m - 35m visibility here. This is a dive for experienced divers. Descending to a depth of 38m, this site often offers many big fish, Tuna, and Triggerfish. As you reach the reef at the top of the dive, you may spot sea snakes and nudibranchs.

When To Go

Although the diving season is year-round in the Philippines, there are some things to consider when choosing your time to visit. The Philippines sees the monsoon between September and December; from March through June, the weather is warmest, with the best visibility at this time too. Consider what skin protection to wear in the colder months at 23 degrees Celsius, but most will enjoy diving in a 3mm shortie at 30 degrees Celsius in the summer months. If it's whale sharks you are after spotting, then March to May is the time to visit. However, at all other times, you won't be disappointed by the wonders that you find underwater.

The local currency is the Philippines Peso, which is exchanged over 50 to the US Dollar. It is important to remember to save some cash for your journey home as there is a 750 peso exit charge from Cebu airport. The Philippines uses plug types A, B, and C; be sure to take an adapter to suit your travel needs, as you will need to charge your underwater camera so you can capture photos of your exciting journey.

How To Get There & Ports Of Departure

You will more often than not arrive in the Philippines through the capital's Manila airport. Transfer most shortly and easily from here with Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines, or many other budget airlines to the islands of Cebu for departures of the Philippine Siren. Be sure to check your port of departure for your liveaboard; all three, Malapascua (north), Moalboal (west), and Cebu (east), can be reached by taxi or public transport.
