Highlights
Sister ship to the Nautilus Belle Amie, the 35m Nautilus Explorer Liveaboard was custom built for divers to explore the amazing sites of Guadalupe and the Socorro Islands, Mexico. Built by divers, for divers for stability, comfort, and safety, the Nautilus Explorer liveaboard comprises 13 cabins, ranging from a cost-effective mixed-gender triple occupancy stateroom to a luxurious premium suite. On the lower deck are 8 twin/double cabins and 1 triple cabin. The hot tub deck has 3 superior suites and the premium suite, which features a separate lounge and floor-to-ceiling picture window. All cabins are equipped with individually controlled AC and private en-suite bathrooms.
The Nautilus Explorer has many well-designed social areas. There are two upper-floor sun decks and a hot tub deck where guests can relax with a glass of wine or frosty beer under the evening stars. The main salon is located in front of the dive deck and has large panoramic windows, and it is furnished with couches, a dedicated PC and Mac computer for video editing, and a 42-inch plasma TV. Onboard dining consists of freshly made dishes, including homemade bread, pastries, and soups combining North American, European, and Mexican flavors.
The Nautilus Explorer schedules itineraries to the incredible sites of the Socorro Islands, famous for manta rays, humpback whales, and vast schools of fish, or on exhilarating Great White cage diving in Guadalupe. The back of the boat is home to the dive deck, with a 5-ton hydraulic crane, water-level platform, and reinforced steel deck for white shark cage diving and support film and scientific crews. There is also nitrox available for certified divers, and the Nautilus Explorer is rebreather friendly.

Trip of a lifetime!
Amazing first live aboard experience. The other divers said that this trip would spoil me, and was much nicer than other live aboards. Service was great. Food was awesome (though I wish they would have served more Mexican food). This is a very expensive trip (and does not include alcohol, gratuities, or equipment), so you are getting what you pay for. As to the diving, I went from April 1-9, 2018. Highlights of what I saw: hammerheads, dolphins, small whale shark (about 10 feet), a sailfish, many mantas, and a few other divers saw a tiger shark. Highly recommended!

Most amazing way to celebrate 20th anniversary!
So many Great White sharks of different sizes. We were able to renew of wedding vows on the dive deck and we were surprised by unexpected treats to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary. The Captain is amazing, not only in charge but welcoming and works along side the fantastic crew.

Best Trip Ever, and I've been to Australia's Live aboard, it doesn't hold a candle to the Nautilus Explorer. I'm already booking for next year!
Seeing so many beautiful Great White Sharks in one location. I was very pleased with all the staff and services onboard. Captain Lowel, Dulce, Dani, Pato, Steve, and so many more were so welcoming and helpful. Bravo to all the staff on the Nautilus Explorer, and I can't wait to come back again next year. Thank you for a great vacation! Rita Ringle

Over promised, under delivered
Snorkle with Silky sharks was amazing. However, we were told first thing upon arrival not to expect whales or Whale sharks even though it was advertised as seasons for both. Water is rough and many seasoned divers were sea sick multiple days. The giant mantas were great but not worth the expense and extra days at sea to get to the location.

All the fantastic sea creatures we were super lucky to see. Most the dive guides where fantastic. Even though we didn't need any help, I always felt that anything we would have needed was easy to ask for and everyone was more than happy to help.

Other worldly experience.
It was amazing to see the giant manta just swimming right in front of you. They were so elegant and majestic. It was also fun to play in a pod of dolphins, and we saw schools of hammerheads. As my first liveaboard experience this trips was absolutely amazing. The dive masters were very experienced and did a great job keeping everyone safe. The crew was exceptional, and always had great food and conversation for us.

The most amazing diving and the friendliest crew!
I had the most amazing dive trip with the Nautilus explorer! The diving in the Socorros Archipelago is world class and by far the best diving I’ve ever done! I am a dive instructor and have dove thousands of dives but this trip topped them all! We saw manta rays on almost ever dive and several times they swirled around me close enough to touch. We saw hammerhead Sharks on almost every dive and several divers including my husband got very close encounters with these amazing animals! I also got a super up close encounter with bottle nose dolphins including a juvenile peeking out toward me from under it’s mother’s belly! The dive boat was immaculate and the care of the staff was above anything I have ever experienced! All the dive masters were so friendly and helpful! One of our Dive masters was a marine biologist and gave nightly presentations on the Pelagic species we were diving with which increased both my knowledge and enjoyment of these encounters. Another Dive master was a underwater photography expert and offered post-dive review and tips and tricks on how to improve my underwater photography and I learned so much from him! The food was also really exceptional. Several of the customers on our trip had been on 5+ live aboards and all commented how good the food was! It was also so amazing to have a hot jacuzzi waiting for us after every dive!

Lovely boat, great crew, maybe not best diving experience possible
We had lovely weather and a fun group. Excellent dive masters. Safety was unparalleled. Every possible measure taken for covid including tests before and after trip. Very flexible with using newly increased port fees. Unfortunately nature did not cooperate and we did not see as much many other trips. No one's fault! Tough crossing. Not sure I would do again. But everyone else says you should!

Absolutely incredible and worth the 240 mile journey to the islands. Mantas almost every dive, and sharks pretty much guaranteed. Humpback whales and dolphins were also on some of the dive sites. Highly recommend.

Amazing, bookended by horrid ground transportation problems.
See above. What I want to bring to light is how absolutely HORRID the ground transportation was. Loved the boat, the crew, all of that is incredible. the problem is what I remember most about this, was the horrendous ground transportation and crappy communication between the boat and the ground transport. did you know a woman in our crew hurt her ankle, needed a wheelchair, but got dropped off at the border, couldnt take the wheelchair mind you, to find her own way through the border. Thats after waiting dockside nearly 90 minutes for a bus to show.

Dolphins and Tigers and Mantas, Oh My!
the dolphins and mantas are so friendly--they really come right up to you and seem to want to interact with you. The one con of the trip was the customer service leading up to the trip. Every question seemed to take forever to get an answer, and logistics weren't clearly communicated in advance or well handled. Once we were onboard though, everything was smooth sailing :)

- the dive guides really went out of their way to give us the best experience possible; Socorro life is up there with the best; the chef had a real gift for baked goods
A happy ship that delivered unforgettable diving in challenging circumstances
The diving in Cabo Pearce (Socorro) was astounding, with intimate manta encounters, dolphins crossing our group, and a school of over 50 hammerheads — all on a single dive. We saw hammerheads on the majority of our dives, as well as silvertips, Galapagos, silkies, and white tips. The shark action at Roca Partida was phenomenal. And at several sites there were large schools of jacks of the sort one finds at Cabo Pulmo. Lots of octopus and nudis too. We had no sightings of whales or whale sharks, and visibility was sometimes rather limited due to two January storm fronts that scrambled things a bit. There is no longer a night silky snorkel due to new Mexican government regulations. The return crossing was a bit bumpy as well. Overall however we had an excellent time, with a friendly crew that does whatever it takes to deliver a great experience, is accommodating of solo divers, and keeps divers well fed and cared for. We had divers from France, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, Russia, Taiwan, Mexico, Argentina, and the US, and the group was a joy. This is not a cheap trip but it’s a very solid value for the money, and I would certainly go back.

Manta-Mania
A huge Manta was circling above our heads for the whole dive. WOW....he came so close, we could have touched him :-) The Mantas were great, during our trip. The diving at Roca Partida was fantastic: Mantas and all kinds of sharks! And our nightly snorkel with the silky sharks was a adrenalin rush. The silky sharks were hunting the fish and we were inbetween them.....scary!!! Though: at Socorro, the sea was quite empty. At some dives, we didn't see anything besides some Nudibranchs hanging on the wall :-(

High expectations, met and exceeded
The manta and dolphin encounters are like nothing on the planet - animals have become used to the respect and love that divers feel for them and will come to play with you. The divemasters are about the best we’ve ever come across; friendly and always ready to help, and attentive to what the dive team was doing. Finally, the service from the hostesses and the chef, was simply amazing.

THE DIFFERENCE MAKER
Diving: Mantas (duh!) - have seen many before but the interaction in the sites like El Boiler and Roca Partida are second to none. Dolphins ( all over the place in El Boiler) Hammerheads ( Roca Partida) Tiger Shark and Whale shark ( if you are lucky - in El Bolier) Night Snorkel with Silky sharks Super awesome marine life in all sites Safety: Excellent emphasis given to safety and procedures on the dive. Non Diving: Round the clock service makes the whole diving at sea part a breeze Excellent Food: I am a vegetarian and I slept well fed on burger, steak and all other nights. Round the clock food. Look forward to the hot coco with Baileys post the night snorkel. Brilliant Staff: You are sure to make life long friends on this boat, so be ready to bawl like a baby when you are leaving. I am definitely not done with Soccoro or The Nautilus Fleet. I thought I would move on to the Galapagos or elsewhere, but there would be no reasons given the richness of dive experience that is available in this one package.

A good experience
It was good. It could have been excellent if El Niño hadn't warmed the waters so much that large sharks stayed in the main very deep in cooler waters and no whales. The Nautilus Explorer needs a lot of TLC and is showing signs of age in many parts. The crew however was very friendly and thoughtful. Captain Al was great and very focussed on diver safety. The dive briefings were very good but somehow didn't manage expectations well as certainty about seeing certain wildlife transformed itself into disappointment in many circumstances. We had Mantas on every dive though which was fantastic. Overall happy to have done it though other diverson the boat who had been before (some 3/4 times) said these were the worst diving conditions they experienced in the Revillagigedos (aka Socorro). Luck of the draw I guess.

The overall rating for this trip would be 9.5/10. Everything was close to perfect. What I liked the most was the attitude that the dive masters and crew had during the trip. Very nice people always looking to help and make the trip more comfortable. Definitely will return in a couple years. Diving was obviously amazing.

Nice boat, people and diving!
I really enjoyed having done a liveaboard on the Nautilus Explorer. We saw many dolphins and manta rays. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed overall as I had expected a greater number of big fish. We also saw hammerhead sharks, but the overall visibility was not very good most of the time. Nevertheless, the diving was a pleasure. We also heard whales singing underwater, but unfortunately did not see any while diving. The food on board was good, but could be a bit more varied. I also find it a pity that for the price of the tour, beer, for example, is not included in the price. Otherwise, you have to adapt to the corona conditions and wear a mask inside the ship. The staff is very helpful and friendly, thumbs up for that! My room was a bit small for 2 people, but I had booked it as a single room, which worked out well so far. I would try to look out for discount promotions, sometimes there are hefty discounts on liveaboard.com. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Go Nautalis Explorer, you won’t be disappointed!
Very seldom do I write a review about an experience when travelling but every so often one comes along that I think deserves recognition. I travelled with my daughter on the trip to Socorros and it was first class from start to finish. The Nautalis Explorer was very well laid out , perfect for diving, the sleeping quarters were very comfortable and the food was great! The best thing about this trip, and I can’t stress this enough, was the crew on the Explorer! From the moment I arrived right up to the moment I left these people were amazing. They worked long hours and went above and beyond to ensure all the guests were happy. On a type of trip like this issues naturally arise and wether it be clients gear or special personal requirement they immediately took care of the situation and rectified the problem in a professional manner well always smiling. There is not one thing I could complain of about anyone on the crew, in fact at times I felt guilty as to how hard they worked well we just dove and relaxed. Thanks again to all the crew for making this trip so memorable! The diving was amazing to say the least, Mantas, Humpback Whales and sharks of all kinds including Hammerheads! Go Nautalis Explorer to Socorros, you won’t be disappointed!!

They Made it Work
Our trip was derailed by a hurricane but the staff and crew did their best to shift our itinerary in a way that would still work well. Diving with the Manta rays was a real treat, as was snorkeling with sealions. There was a moldy smell in my cabin but I imagine this is common among boats. Unsure if I would book this one again based on varied responsiveness of head office staff.
