Fabulous liveaboard & location - 5 stars all around!
This was our first liveaboard experience, and I'm afraid I've been spoiled! The Ying is beautiful - very luxe, wonderful rooms, plenty of public space - and the spa is to die for! You feel like you're in a fabulous spa at home (but then realize it's actually on a ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean!). The treatments were all terrific and the masseuses really have a lot of experience. Between my husband & myself, we indulged in a 5 massages, 1 facial, and one anniversary package (massage & scrub & wrap) - this last one was on the house due to our celebration, and it was such a nice touch! This was a highlight of the boat that definitely sets it apart from other liveaboard vessels. The diving in the Maldives (our reason for going) was top-notch, and our crew was experienced and very capable. We saw everything we could have hoped to see - mantas, so many turtles, multiple whale sharks, schools of fish like I've never seen before (and we've dived a good number of prime diving sites in the world), etc. etc. Matt & his entire liveaboard crew went out of their way to make all of our vacations memorable, and we enjoyed it all - the sandbar & island stops, BBQ night on the deserted island, etc etc. All fantastic! We happened to go in the low season (late May), but our sea conditions were fine (I think visibility was lower than normal, though it was still decently good for us - about 20-30m)...and allowed us to have some significant discount in the pricing (25% lower than peak season). A few important details: Wifi is free and included (not so in many liveaboards), staterooms were plush (we were in a manta suite with a huge window), food is abundant and great (loved the pre-morning dive coffee service & treats). Can't wait to go back again!

Perfect Balance
ScubaSpa Ying provides a truly world class experience. The staff and management were always anticipating anything you may want or need, remembering each guests preferences and requests. The boat itself is quite impressive providing plenty of areas to lounge and relax. Having a spa onboard made this trip luxurious, and offered many types of massage and couples treatments. The island BBQ was one of our favorite memories as the staff went above and beyond to make it a great evening. Our only constructive recommendation would be the 'all inclusive' price should include basic drinks all day (coffee, tea & soda), which would also be included with drinks instead of paying for both the alcohol and soda.

Being able to dive with Mantas and Whale Sharks and experiencing all the varied diving the Maldives have to offer. Some great challenges with currents and visibility and it all makes us better divers to be stretched. The ship was fantastic and the crew was top notch.

Incredibly Relaxing, loved it!
Wonderfully, modern, relaxing, spacious boat, super friendly wait staff, even as a vegetarian, the food was amazingly fresh and delicious, crew was willing to make accommodations, but not necessary because it was already so good. Very spacious boat with lots of space to relax. The diving was great, but the guides were some of the worst I've experienced in Asia. I rarely saw the guide underwater because he would just take off, the equipment was faulty, and took 11 dives of me telling the crew that my regulator was leaking air for them to change it. However, the fish and underwater life, and service on the boat was so amazing that I'd do it easily again. With the support of the dive crew, i recommend only advanced and very comfortable divers go. My first liveaboard, and I'd certainly do this one again!

An Excellent Experience with Awesome Food and Company
I had an excellent time on board the Scubaspa Ying and would definitely do it again. First and foremost, the diving was incredible and the dive team did an excellent job picking the dive sites. We saw almost everything you could want to see in the Maldives: giant schools of fish, half a dozen manta rays, whale sharks, nurse sharks, dolphins, stingrays, eels, octopus, giant clams, and so much more. The dive briefings were superb; the dive team clearly had an excellent handle on the dive sites, conditions, and entry/exit plans. They also took particular care in getting us to the dive sites before other liveaboards in the region crowded things up or scared away all the interesting marine life. Second, the food on board was amazing. You will never go hungry on this boat. Sometimes you forget that you're actually dining at sea. Every night the food was a different cuisine and there's always something for everyone. Third, the crew members on board the Ying were fantastic and really made the experience memorable. All the crew members were very friendly and thoughtful, and truly did their best to cater to your every need. All together, these made this trip an outstanding experience that I definitely will not forget and would highly recommend to anyone considering a liveaboard in the Maldives.

ScubaSpa is Heaven for Divers!
I loved my Manta Stateroom & the ever changing views of the Maldives. If excellent diving with wonderful dive masters wasn’t enough—they schooled us on diving in wild currents/reef hooks, etc!!! The BBQ dinner on the sand island was over the top! And...the massages in the spa—perfect!!!

Best Week Ever!
Scubaspa Ying far exceeded our expectations for this trip! I absolutely must gush about our dive master, Naphsu, who was INCREDIBLE. Naphsu, Afu, Vishoo... all the dive guides were first class and they made the week unforgettable. I have nothing but the best things to say about our experience... wonderful accommodations (the Manta Suite is totally worth it), impeccable service by the entire staff, and we made lifelong connections with people from across the globe. Kudos to Scubaspa for the adventure of a lifetime!

-the night shark dive -most of the dives were some of the best I've ever done (I hit my 100th dive on this trip!) -the beach BBQ and sundeck dinner were really spectacular -just relaxing on the sundeck and taking it all in -the food... And the variety at every meal -meeting cool people from around the world -the first Manta cleaning station (got really lucky, didn't get so lucky at the others, but that's diving)

The experience aboard the Ying was awesome, the diving - not so much.
Food and accomadations are the best in the industry. In total, the diving for the week was a bust. I wouldn't recommend this trip if it is all about the diving. The impression I got was that the dives were all about air consumption to shorten the dives. We went deeper than needed to see the same things we could have seen at half the depth and we were always fighting the current rather than using it to our advantage. A lot of the time we were in the water and saw nothing. There were a few highlights for sure, but not worth the cost of the trip to see it.

A Small Luxury Cruise with Good Scuba
ScubaSpa Ying is a great boat to be on. We were in the Dolphin suite; it was large (for a boat) and quite comfortable. I'd give the bed a B+ or A- for comfort (which is better than some resorts I've been to in the Maldives; I doubt you'll find better a better bed on a boat). The food was fantastic; there was a good variety (usually some sea food and some chicken or beef). There was Italian night, Mexican night, and Asian night. I feel this is the best food you're going to find on any boat. The diving was great! They have fantastic dive briefings with slides and topographical maps of the sea floor. There is abundant wildlife in the Maldives. The dive boat is quite comfortable. The guides are very helpful. The dives typically only lasted about 45 minutes each, though. My air consumption isn't the best, but it's not bad. I feel that we were a bit deeper than needed for some of the dives. Our experience here was basically dive, eat, nap, and repeat for 3 times each day. There is limited entertainment on the boat itself, though; your time on the boat will be eating, napping, or socializing with the other guests (and fellow scuba divers are usually pretty good company). They'll take you out for a beach day once or twice. They may get out the stand-up paddle boards or inner tube sometimes. You can expect something like 17 dives while on the boat including one night dive.

Best Liveaboard of my Life!
ScubaSpa should be the standard that all Liveaboards strive to be. Fantastic Vessel, Superb Service, Luxurious Cabin, World-Class Dining, 5-Star Spa. Only 2 minor inconveniences with our A/C and the heat pump for the Hot Tub. Also, the Diving was less than what we expected.

First liveaboard and I'm sold
I had not done a liveaboard before but am sold - no desire to be on a large vessel again. The staff are incredible - the policy is I'm not to place names on the review but they will be remembered from those that made the dining/bar service memorable to the diving - everyone was exceptional. Highlights of the trip were seeing Manta rays and a glimpse of a whale shark (felt lucky as had not viewed the previous 5 weeks). Was slightly disappointed at the decreased visability diving the end of June but the dives were still spectacular and dive staff and equipment were top notch - I would imagine diving could be even better in the high season - but this is trade off as we had less boats/crowds I was told. The food is very good and plentiful, cocktails/bar was great, wine list is just ok if you are picky - the liquor bill does add up as additional taxes and tips are added on. In addition it took questioning several times that tip for the crew was actually included in the price paid - so it is worthwhile clarifying this if you choose this boat - I would highly recommend this boat for the vessel itself, the staff and the dive sites visited.

Best overall live aboard.
Certainly the biggest and most luxurious live aboard I have ever been (and I have been on 13 live aboards). Best selection of food for all 3 meals— even lobster was available for an extra cost. My vegetarian partner has no problems filling her plates. Rather expensive spa treatments, but the facilities and services were second to none. Diving dhoni was well equipped— loaned me a BC when my SSI octopus free flowed. Full selection of O-rings when my high pressure o-ring failed. Compressors on dhoni so the same tank was refilled for each dive. Had a 100 cu ft tank for me. Nitrox was $105 for the whole week— for the dive package price, this really should be included. Competent dive masters from what I could see. Just be aware that there are at times ripping current on the kandu (channel) dives. Reef hook used on some dives. Didn’t see a whale shark, but one dive group saw one. No mantas, but plenty of eagle rays and mobula rays. Night dive was a madness of nurse sharks and stingrays. Coral average (I have dived Raja Ampat twice) in my opinion with no large areas of bleaching seen. Some areas have nice plate corals, sea fans and there were lots of small fish underneath overhangs. Visibility was less than average— about 50 to 75 feet. My dolphin room was quite large for a live aboard and bathroom was fine. Good laundry service. Snorkeling apparently average as visibility wasn’t the best. Overall the friendliest staff with a smile always.

Best trip of our lives - can't wait to go back!
This was by far the best trip me and my husband have taken. I'll try to be through in the review as I think they can be really helpful as you're making a decision. Overall, this is the way to go if you want to see more of the Maldives and don't care for sitting still at a resort. We stopped in three different islands for different reasons (beach time, BBQ, sightseeing) and just the travel through the atoll and islands you can see along the route is something very special. We cannot wait to go back!!! BOAT & CREW The boat is extremely comfortable and for us, both divers, the spa is a nice add (and a great option for non-divers who just want a relaxing vacation). The rooms were spacious, clean, and the staff was EXTREMELY nice and attentive, make you feel special. The food was OK with a nice variety and lots of fresh fruits (which I love). The BBQ night was incredible and super fun. DIVING The whole dive operation is best-in-class. From the dhoni to the crew, we could not have asked for better service. They looked for the best dives spots (which can vary based on weather and diving conditions) and are very organized with the dives, but in a very relaxed way, which is really nice. Both my husband and I took the opportunity to get our Advanced Open Water certification onboard and our dive master, Rita, was wonderful. They offer 17 dives in 7 days!! You can't ask for more adventure and fun than that. We saw mantas and sting rays, lots of sharks, whale shark, turtles, and all sorts of beautiful fish. The night dive is a MUST DO... It's incredible. A FEW THINGS TO NOTE: --You should make sure you book your departing flight late on the last day of the trip so you can take advantage of all dives the day before - my husband and I didn't know we were diving on Friday, so we had to skip two dives (to make sure we had 24h of surface time before flying). It's better to maybe stay overnight in Hulhumale or Male, unless you are OK with possibly missing some dives on the last day. -- Another thing we did not know before going is that if you want to pay the balance of the trip with a credit card, there's a 2% fee. Not a huge deal but slightly annoying that we were not informed of that before. -- Make sure you bring cash for the water sports (optional activity) as they do not take credit card. I highly recommend the parasailing in Maafushi - super fun!

Beautiful boat and wonderful crew!
The beautiful boat and awesome crew was definitely the best part of the trip. Diving almost seem secondary! But the dive team was excellent too, and I love how detailed each briefing before a dive was. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable about what to look out for. I felt well taken care of by the dive team. Food was excellent (the steak dinner was so good) and the restaurant crew are always so friendly. Spa section was gorgeous, although I wish I could afford more of the massages! Do note that the passenger are of a more mature crowd (which is excellent when coming to giving me tips on diving!) and the scene is a lot more chill. As there can be up to half the boat passengers being on a non-diving package (usually the spouse of a diver), the dive scene may be less intense than the average liveaboard one would expect. A great Maldivian experience!

The ultimate luxury diving trip
Sadly a lot of the coral is suffering from bleaching in the Maldives. The beauty of diving from a liveaboard is the ability to keep moving and the local area knowledge of the crew in taking us to the best dving spots full of beautiful coral and fish. The food, service, and facilities on board are exceptional. They also teach diving to complete beginners or help you get advanced or specialised certifications. I managed to complete my underwater photography certification. Other did their beginner Open Water or their Advanced Open Water. Everything about this trip was exceptional and I would highly recommend ScubaSpa Ying or Yang to anyone wanting a relaxing or a diving holiday to the Maldives.

Luxury Liveaboard
Scubaspa Yang is in fact a luxury experience for divers. Most liveaboards are quite more simple (wich does not bother me) but this rises the experience to another level. You can eat a variety of well cooked meals, have wonderful massages and meet a friendly and and well trained crew. Dive sites are getting spoiled by the big number of boats, with no coordination from the government. But even then we have had some great dives.

Amazing diving experience with great staff
Manta Night dive Dinner on the inland The only thing that we really were unhappy with is that there was no blanket in our room. Only a thin sheet. Other than that we would not have changed a thing

Super crew, lots of fun, Good diving, great holiday.
Terrific dive with Oceanic Manta Rays, action packed shark dives, lovely cruise of the Maldives. A few crowded dive sites that could have been avoided other than that a super diving luxury holiday. A big thank you to the staff and managers for a tremendous effort.

Outstanding Experience
Whale Shark, Huge Mantas - everywhere you looked there was something new to see. The crew were a joy - they could not have tried any harder to satisfy every guest and they absolutely went above and beyond. The cabins were spacious, the food varied and well prepared, the service generally could not be faulted - we will be back!

Amazing way to dive the Maldives
Great stay aboard the Scubaspa Ying, amazing diving locations, a beautiful boat and friendly staff. Food was fresh, although not really 'adapted' for any specialist dietary requirements (vegetarians!) and the alcohol was incredibly expensive. This boat was selected as it offered a combination of diving and yoga which the sample itinerary looked to provide, however in reality you have to forfeit diving to do the daily yoga which was really disappointing. All in all, a great liveaboard that we would recommend to others.

Maldives still is a unforgettable experience
It was only 4 days, but very intense, with good dives and a very professional team. In 2016 I did a liveaboard in the Maldives on ScubaSpa yang and in 2019 I did a Liveaboard in the Galapagos and that why it is always difficult to compare. The very young Afu was our guide and certainly has a future in this job. For the first time I went diving with a group of Portuguese friends who in the end became fans of this type of vacation. The last word for Christian, our cruise manager, for his professionalism and friendliness!

Wonderful days, with a great team
Great dives having Afu as our very professional guide leading us to wonderful diving spots. A great team that provide us the best comfort and the best meals, and even a BBQ at the sunset at the beach. That was unforgetable. Congratulations Scubaspa Ying.

Is not for "divers", is for couples in a comnfortable holidays
I have seen very little life in the dives, and other friends who have been to the Maldives this week have seen a lot. I have done 12 lives a board and this has been the worse for what we have found in the dives, was it because they did not know how to choose them or because they took the 22 divers regardless of the level to the same place? Is not a boat for photograpehrs divers, bcause it hasn´t what they need. Boring, I think that from the direction of the trip they did little to cheer him up. The wine list is three times more expensive than in a restaurant in your city

Amazing experience
Already the 3rd time we are onboarding on the ScubaSpa and it is always a delight to make this cruise with this wonderful team. Simon, a hyper professional supervisor always ready to bring you the little extra that will make your cruise unforgettable. Mox and Vishuu, 2 super Divemaster who have a great knowledge of The Ari Atoll islands Who can predict you to come across Mantas, nurse sharks or even a small whale shark during your dives? In addition to their commitment during the dives, our 2 divemasters remain available for their VIP guests during the debriefing evenings. Special mention for the cuisine that reveals all the flavours of Asia and the world on the occasion of theme dinners The COVID period is not easy to manage for the tour operators. But on the scubaspa Yang with this great team, the sanitary constraints, the stress of the virus are far away from your daily concerns. Once again we highly recommend this cruise that we will do a 4th time on the southern atolls this next time We put the mark of 9.5/10 just to give us a new for chance to come back and put a 10

An incredible few days!
The people (dive instructors, guests and staff) were all amazing and accommodating to both dive level and dietary requirements. The boat was fantastic; great food, very comfortable and lots of different places to hang out. Last but not least the diving was absolutely sensational.. mantas, whale sharks, turtles, big schools of fish, healthy reefs and critters aplenty! Would definitely choose Scubaspa again - it was like clockwork
