The 27m MY Maldiviana Liveaboard underwent a full renovation in 2015 and offers year round dive liveaboard trips to some of the best dive sites in the Maldives, including the Male Atolls, Ari Atolls and Felidhoo Atolls. Diving takes place form the dedicated diving Dhoni, to give more space and quiet on the mother ship. Nitrox is available and the experienced dive guides will delight in showing divers the beauty of the underwater world. With lush coral reefs and pristine dive sites, divers can hope to see Manta Rays, Whale Sharks, as well as Turtles, Barracuda and Tuna.

Topside, the Maldiviana Yacht has 7 cabins which cater to 14 divers. Each cabin has individually controlled A/C and an en-suite bathroom. The on-board restaurant offers a varied menu of European and local cuisine, and a bar with a wide selection of drinks available to purchase. Guests can relax in the air-conditioned lounge with TV, entertainment system & karaoke, or on the sun deck with loungers to relax in between dives and enjoy the breath-taking Maldivian views.

Mantas and Whalesharks

All crew were friendly and helpful. We were the first Australians that had been on the boat and we found the Russian passengers very friendly as well. Drinks prices seemed very reasonable for a live aboard. The food was varied, with a range of choices and the chef Chathu made a big effort to keep everyone happy. He took a real interest in passenger tastes and tailored dishes to suit us. Tank fills were fairly consistent with no short fills. You can choose between 2 tanks sizes or pay for $50 for a 15L tank for the trip if you are an air pig. Niyaz the instructor, gave clear dive briefings and he and Ari worked hard to find good stuff in the water. We had 2 dives at Paradise Manta Point, on passenger request, with 7 or 8 Mantas. The second dive with no divers other than the 6 on our boat. They worked hard to finally get us in the water with a 7m and a 6m whaleshark and we had 2 Mantas stay around for hours at nigh with a light over the water. The night dive feeding sharks was great fun with large tawny nurse sharks showing up as soon as we hit the water. Unfortunately the dive dhoni broke down after our first dive on day 3 so we only had one dive that day. The projected repair completion time kept getting put back and they eventually used a replacement dhoni for 2 dives on day 4. This put the whole of the rest of the itinerary out. Niyaz tried his best to rearrange the diving to minimise impact; however he had to play catch up and eventually leave some key sites in the north of Ari atoll out. This lead to us making some very ordinary dives in poor visibility with a lot of channel dives on outgoing currents with bad visibility. We also then needed to do three 4 dive days to make up the number of dives. Some of these were very ordinary and felt a bit like diving so another dive could be ticked off the tally. Despite the problem with the Dhoni I would dive with this boat and crew again. We were just very unlucky to have a breakdown on our trip. I guess that means we will have to go to the Maldives again.
