A taste of paradise, on a breathtakingly beautiful vessel that compares in its

Our honeymoon in Indonesia was made special because of the four-day journey we took on the marvellous Tanaka. We were spoiled by its wonderful crew and the breathtaking views that she sailed past. We thoroughly enjoyed our SCUBA dives; each dive site was unique and excited us with its diverse, and tremendously rich marine life. Our favourite dives brought us to manta rays, in both 'cleaning' and 'feeding stations'. The latter involved a dive with a very strong current, which was safely executed thanks to the experienced diving instructors that thoroughly briefed and guided us. Very exhilarating! The manta rays are awesome, stunning creatures. At the 'cleaning station' dive site, a group of 8-10 manta rays swam in very close proximity to the us and the other divers! You can find many clips and images of some of the sites we dived at, including the marine biodiversity we saw, on the instagram account creativescubaimages. The Tanaka is the amalgamation of a passion project to build a Phinisi ship by a spirited Frenchman called Alain. A lot of love, research and consideration went into its design, and it was built using many traditional boat-making techniques in Burma. Alain will happily show you video clips he took of the making of the ship if you're curious. The Tanaka is a truly beautiful vessel, manned by a professional, friendly and experienced crew. Luxuries are catered for that guests probably won’t find met at the same high standards on other similar liveaboard getaways. The decks were kept clean and well organised. We stayed in its largest suite, which allowed us a private deck and view of the ocean from the rear of the boat. What luxury! The various cabins have air-conditioning, but we chose to keep our rear windows wide open at night and listen to the sound of the ocean while we slept. Delicious wines are stocked on board (we recommend the Grand Bateau Bordeaux), as well as beer, and cocktails are available too. At meal times, a mixture of local and western-style food was well prepared, abundant and delicious. We leave the Tanaka with fond feelings for the people we met and the memories we made. Bon Voyage Tanaka - may you sail on to touch the hearts of many more travellers (and lovers!) alike!

Our trip aboard Tanaka was nothing short of incredible!

From the get-go, crew and staff made sure everything was in place so we could focus on enjoying the trip. The chef-prepared meals were fantastic and customized to our preferences. Scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and island trekking were great ways to enjoy all Komodo National Park has to offer. Tanaka offers all the luxuries you might expect while maintaining the feel of a wooden ship on the ocean. We really enjoyed getting to know the other guests and crew, feeling like a family by the time the trip had ended. I highly recommend the Tanaka to others looking for an amazing liveaboard experience!

Wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

We had an amazing time on board the Tanaka! Alain and Arnaud were wonderful hosts. We had many incredible experiences in just 4 short days. Our favorites were the visit to Rinca Island to see Komodo Dragons, diving with awesome sea life and coral, sunrise trek on Padar Island and sunset with the flying foxes. Thank you Tanaka crew, we’ll be back!!

A short trip that was very satisfying

Cool wooden sailing boat. Beautiful cabin.Friendly staff. And thanks to the fun and kind other Mr./Ms. who cared about something, I participated alone, but it was a very satisfying short cruise.I forced myself to take two days off on my three-day holiday and went to Komodo, which I had always wanted to visit. When I searched the Internet for a boat that seemed to fit the schedule for 3 nights and 4 days, there was a Tanaka cruise, and I thought it was owned by Japan people, but in fact, it was Mr./Ms. owned by a nice guy named Mr./Ms. Alaine. In the dive, the manta rays circled in front of me all the time, which was too luxurious. The afternoon dive on the second day was canceled due to poor sea conditions, but it was arranged according to the situation with excellent hospitality such as snorkeling on the beach and snacks. In the afternoon of the third day, we trekked to see the Komodo dragons. Also, the inside of the ship was always kept clean and I was able to spend a comfortable time.If you want to dive in Komodo, I recommend it.
