Whale sharks, manta rays, and Komodo dragons and a great crew
We had an amazing time on the Mermaid II. The crew were friendly and helpful, the dive guides were fantastic, and we had some dives that will be lifetime memories. We had 4 whale sharks that circled us for an hour at Saleh Bay, another hour with manta rays at Manta Alley, and saw 9 Komodo dragons on our walk in the park. The rooms and food were modest, but appropriate for the price.

Would highly recommend.
We loved everything about this trip. The beautiful colours of the Yellow Wall and many other memorable dives with turtles, sharks and so many fish. Joss was a fabulous cruise director, Desi was a delight and Elham worked tirelessly.

Wonderful diving trip with an experienced dive team and super hospitable crew!
I picked this itinerary as it set off and returned to Bali, which made it super easy for me to catch a direct international flight back home - from the airport it was only a 20-30 min car ride to the port where the ship was. This was a huge draw for me as the alternative would have been to do multiple flights/ transfers to fly into Labuan Bojo, which was the main airport for the Komodo Islands. The diving experience on the entire trip was superb, as to be expected for the region. The dive crew and operations on the Mermaid II were top notch - professional, experienced, safe, helpful and super friendly. I especially appreciated the super detailed and educational briefings, which not only introduced me to the geological topography areas, but also the unique marine species in the area. This is a dive-oriented liveaboard/ itinerary - with 4 dives planned each day. There was a selection of easier sites with calmer waters, but more confident/ experienced divers can better enjoy some of the best sites on the trip, which tend to have stronger currents/ drifts. There was a land excursion to see the Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat, which was quite special. I really enjoyed spending time with other fellow divers and marine life enthusiasts on the trip. We had quite a global mix of nationalities among the passengers, a good mix of younger and older adults, couples and parent-child pairings, and a few solo travellers. Cabin and common areas were clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Food menu was well curated with something for everyone, and tasty/ fresh.

A delightful trip of a life time.
The Mermaid 2 and her crew were an absolute delight. From delicious and plentiful food to comfortable cabins to an amazing massage, I felt well taken care of and pampered the whole time. The dive sites were great - from giant whale sharks and dancing mantas to adorable cuddle fish, bobtail squid, and baby octopus, we were treated to some seriously epic diving. The staff was warm and funny and made the trip very enjoyable. Our guide Bram was amazing, finding and pointing out a ton of cool tiny things. Luca kept us laughing (and guessing, his joking sarcasm rivals my own) and well informed. Desi may be the star though; incredibly sweet, attentive, warm, and she gives really amazing massages. No trip is perfect and there were a few hiccups, mostly of my own making (I leaned an important lesson about slowing down and double checking gear after flooding my camera), but this trip was pretty close. Not only that but all the other passengers were delightful! Swiss, German, English, American, Canadian, Belgian...a nice international mix of really great humans. Be careful playing Monopoly with Bob though, he looks innocent but he's really a shark!

Our first liveaboard and we are already planning to come back!
Mermaid II was in impeccable condition and clearly exceptionally well maintained. The crew seemed to work constantly—and always cheerfully—to keep everything pristine. The staff-to-diver ratio was an incredible 1:1, and the level of service and attention was unlike anything I’ve experienced on a liveaboard. The diving operation was the safest I have ever seen. Two crew members assisted each diver getting on and off the dinghies, safety checks were thorough, and additional guides were provided whenever needed. The dive limits were appropriately conservative, but also flexible: divers who used their air efficiently could buddy up with another group rather than having their dives shortened because someone else was low on air. I really appreciated that approach. Bram was a fantastic guide who happily indulged our love of underwater photography and video, giving us time when we found nudibranchs or encountered octopuses, sea snakes, and other fascinating marine life. He has an exceptional eye for spotting tiny or well-camouflaged treasures, including pygmy seahorses, harlequin ghost pipefish, and leaf-sheep nudibranchs. His skill and patience added enormously to our experience. The food was healthy, varied, and delicious. Allergies and dietary restrictions were carefully accommodated, and the gluten-free options were especially tasty—thank you, Bruno, Alan, Desi, and Ilham! Fresh fruit was always available, and we had fresh, clean vegetables every day, along with plenty of choices at every meal. Luca and Elsa set such a positive tone. Everyone was treated with respect, patience, and good humor. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, yet the crew’s efficiency and teamwork kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. I don’t think I ever got into or out of my gear without someone immediately offering cheerful assistance. We were all incredibly impressed by the way the entire crew worked together. Mermaid II delivers an exceptional combination of safety, professionalism, warmth, and fun. I would enthusiastically recommend this boat and crew.

Amazing diving, life and people
Amazing diving in Komodo aboard the Mermaid II. Diving was everything you could ask for and more. The dive guides were attentive, knowledgable and able to find incredible life on our dives while prioritizing everyone's safety. Easily the most comfortable boat I've ever been on including comforts such as a clean towel after every dive and hot chocolate after returning from night dives. The cruise director Luca went above and beyond to ensure an amazing experience for all on board. We had an amazing group on board and made several great friends. Hoping to return soon for another trip on the Mermaid II!

Beautiful Raja Amput
Manta, Wobbegong Shark, walking shark, pygmy seahorses, many types of Nudi. Ble water mangroves and archer fish. Visibility is variable due to weather. Service and food is excellent. Dive masters are great. Clear and consistent communication. Range of nationalities as guests. Safety conscious. If you are a less experienced diver like me, ensure you leave room in your budget for hiring a dive computer and Nitrox and or Nitrox course. Hire equipment is excellent but not cheap. Definitely bring your own if you can. Also a dive torch. They will definitely look after you.

Amazing diving and fun liveaboard - worth it!
Happy to see healthy vibrant reefs, saw everything from large pelagics like manta rays to tiny little creatures during muck dives; we lucked out with the weather and saw beautiful sunsets and starry nights; the crew was so friendly and helpful, they definitely added a lot to the overall experience; also lucked out and made some new diving buddies aboard! All in all an amazing liveaboard experience I'd recommend!
