The beautiful 30m Manta Mae liveaboard was built in traditional Phinisi style to offer fantastic diving itineraries around the truly diverse region of Komodo and Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Launched in 2014 and catering to a maximum of 9 guests, the Manta Mae Indonesia offers a personalised service, focussing on creating unique experiences and lifelong memories.
The Manta Mae Phinisi offers plenty of space for relaxation, both indoors and outside. On the main deck is the indoor salon with AC, comfortable lounge area and bar with fridge, ice maker, plasma TV and Apple computer. For those that wish to soak up the sun and stunning Indonesian scenery the main deck also offers space for sun-bathing and has a large seating and lounge area, a great place to relax in the shade of Manta Mae’s huge sails. Freshly prepared meals can be served al-fresco at the outdoor dining table. On the upper deck is more space for sun bathing or lounging on the bean bags in-between dives. The Manta Mae has only 3 cabins, with one Master and two Deluxe. The large Master Cabin has a king-size bed and additional single, and the two Deluxe Cabins have a queen size bed and one single. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, AC, TV’s and safety boxes.
Underwater, divers & snorkelers can enjoy the best that Indonesia has to offer. From Mola Mola & Manta ray encounters in Komodo, to pristine dive sites in Raja Ampat, there’s something for everyone. On top of that there are fantastic land-based activities on offer too, such as hiking in Rinca to see Komodo Dragons, kayaking through mangroves or enjoying beach BBQ’s at sunset on remote Indonesian islands.

Alone on the sea
With such a small group of guests, it was easy to find some alone time to enjoy the sea and the sky. The decks have ample covering, so you can find a shady spot if you aren't trying to tan continuously. We were alone on the reefs 90% of the time, and usually dove in 2 groups of 4, which was great. The crew was super friendly. The cook is really good, and every meal was incredible. And they had an espresso machine! This trip was a dream, and I would definitely book again.

Excellent. We liked the fact that the boat had few passengers
We liked the cook´s skills, the food was tasty. The crew were friendly and helpful. The master diving guide was friendly too. He was willing to talk and entertain us. He was knowledgable about the geography and history of the places we visited. He had a good sense of humor too.

Best diving in 35 years
Of course the oceanic world in Radja Ampat. Incredible biodiversity and looks like one of the last paradise on this planet. We were able to see Mantas, Turtels, Wobegongs etc. also plenty of macro life. Also some plastic garbage - hope Indonesia does all to protect their environment in the future.

Great diving experience with a very friendly staff
Mantas and millions of fish. Perfect size for a boat with max. 9 people. Always a place to relax on a bean bag. Delicious food and smoothies. Nice trips to beautiful islands. Excellent diving guides, and good rental equipment - thank you Ben and Herman! A trip I will never forget! Tipps: Barefoot boot, only bring flip flops. Avoid the bunk cabin as it is close to the generator.

Couldn't have planned a better new year vacation!
I shall not write this review without complimenting the chef! The food was simply great on the liveaboard. He occasionally asked what kind of meal we wanted and cooked us meals despite the storm like a champ! Manta Mae is a comfortable liveaboard that accommodates a small group of divers and non-divers. The low number of guest allowed the dive guides Ben and Irlan to focus on each of us and even gave feedback on how to improve use dive skills and air consumption. The dive guides are very familiar with the dive sites. We had a late night dinner in an island and watched fireworks on New Year's eve. The minus points would be the room AC that sometimes leaks and some charging ports in the room did not work.
