Built in Sulawesi, considered the “boatyard” of Indonesia, Jelajahi Laut is a beautiful phinisi boat constructed in 2021 with local teak wood and ironwood, ready to take you to the hottest dive spots in Indonesia. Jelajahi Laut means “Explore the Sea,” which she delivers with expeditions to Komodo, Raja Ampat, Banda Islands, Alor, and Ambon, to name a few. This traditional phinisi was designed by divers, optimizing the comforts for diver guests with a spacious equipment area and camera station, where you can gear up and prepare for your underwater adventure.

Fantastic
My husband and I just finished a 10 day/9 night diving trip aboard the Jelajahi Laut with Mikumba Diving. It was our first big liveaboard trip and the experience was superb. Staff was fantastic. Everyone is so friendly and good humored and they worked incredibly hard to make sure we had a blast while keeping safety as their highest priority. The boat is beautiful and spacious, dive deck is dialed, bed was comfortable, and food is good. The Sea View cabin is glorious and absolutely worth the upgrade with its panoramic views and private balcony. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this operator again on a return trip.

New boat with amazing boat crew
7/8nights Raja Ampat Central/North. The boat is relatively new with an amazing boat crew (very courteous, also up for a chat, playing cards or chess). The common areas are very functional and fit perfectly for resting, dive briefings and eating. The dive deck has a spacious setup. Diving dinghies are in good shape. Dive guides come from Sulawesi and have very good eyes to spot critters. This was my second trip to Raja and I was surprised to see stunning muck sites (which this boat/crew probably tend to cater more than others, out of 23 dives, 5 were night/muck) and lots of special critters (e.g. wonderpus, flamboyant cuttlefish, blue ringed octopus).

A trip to remember!
Amazing athmosphere! Raja Ampat is a beautiful location, with a superb variety of marine life. Jelajahi Laut’s crew were excellent pointing out the sealife, and cruise director Abda was excellent picking the dive sites. Really recommend the boat (and the upper deck cabin with panorama windows and a balcony) and the crew!

Wonderful ship with excellent crew
My wife and I booked one of the premier cabins on our 6D/5N trip and it was absolutely gorgeous. We loved the beautful windows and the balcony overlooking the stern. The crew was excellent, professional, friendly, helpful, attentive. The cruise director, Camille, was well-organized, enthusiastic and attentive to the guests. I caught an 18-hour stomach bug -- probably from something I ate before I came aboard. Camille made sure that I had all I needed to feel better. Thanks to her attentions, I was back in the water in no time. This was typical of the excellent service my wife and I received on board the Jelajahi Laut. I would sail with this ship and crew again any time, any where!

Great dives great mood
I had a fantastic experience on board of the Jelajahi Laut thanks to the experience and kindness of the crew, especially the cruise directors Eric and Cami. They knew when was the best time to go to each dive location, considering current, weather, crowdedness and other factors. They went out of their way to find the perfect spot to jump and always did whatever they could to make sure we enjoyed the dive as much as possible. Eric even gifted me a new wristband for my dive computer when mine was about to break. The entire crew also created a very fun and relaxed mood on the boat. Everyone was very friendly and kind, overall a fantastic experience to explore the Komodo National Park. Even the hikes were fun and enjoyable. I can only recommend :)

Our experience aboard the Jelajahi Laut could not have been better. The divesites were amazing. The boat is right-sized and in good condition. Eric, the program director knew his stuff, making on-the fly adjustments to assure we would have pleasant and uncrowded divesites. Hanzo, our dove guid for most of the trip, could not have been better. He was cheerful, pleasant to dive with, and very knowledgeable. Incredible dives with a huge diversity of marine life. Cruise Director J does an awesome job of organising and entertaining everybody and is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about marine life, providing an added dimension to each of the dives. All the guides are very experienced and adapted dives to each group, ensuring everyone was happy.

Unforgettable trip
We had a wonderful 10 days on the Jelajahi Laut! The whole crew around Camille and Eric gave everything to offer us an unforgettable trip in Raja Ampat. Eric's briefings before each dive were designed so that every diver knew exactly what to expect and that helped a lot, especially on some drift dives, which were quite challenging. Also, the protection of the reef is pointed out again and again and that you should not touch or break anything. We thought that was very good. They have carefully selected the dive sites and tried their best to avoid diving with other boats as much as possible. The diving groups consisted of a maximum of 4 people per guide, which was a reason for us to book this boat. In general, there is room for a maximum of 12 guests on the boat and we had a great group! Our Seaviewcabin was lovely, the view of the small islets from the bed was wonderful. Since it is a wooden boat, it sometimes dripped in a bit during heavy rain, but that didn't bother us. :) One afternoon, Matt, a naturalist, came on board to tell us more about sharks and manta rays, which was very exciting. We also liked the shore excursions, the aperitif on the beach and the trip to Jellyfish Lake very much. Everything was always prepared with love and cold drinks were always included.We can recommend the Jelajahi Laut to anyone who is looking for a family atmosphere, good security and fine food and attaches importance to taking care of our underwater world. Many thanks to Cam & Eric, Arisman, Saldi & Basir, Jamal & Dasir, Burhan & Kipli, Ramli & Romi, Elim & David and Kris & Dani. We would love to come back.

Wonderful 6 days of diving in and around Komodo National Park

Terrific boat and crew. Great safety practices and a wonderful onboard culture. This is a great mid-level experience....very comfortable....not the highest end luxury, but good value and good diving. I was both energized by amazing diving and relaxed by a very solid on-board experience. I would definitely dive with Makumba again....looking forward to their new boat in early 2027!

Dive Dreams Delivered!
Every detail was thought through. Even the effort to get one diver who missed his connection to the boat by the 2nd day seemed effortless! Eric has such a fun and distinct personality and flair. Cami was a delight! Hans was our dive guide and he was professional and so helpful! While we all were from 4 countries and different dive expertise levels and ages 17-61, we all bonded closely and were sad to part ways by the end of our 8days. The dives were well planned and briefings excellent. The extra special beach bbq, lazy river snorkel and village tour were unexpected and truly memorable.
