Budget liveaboard

Some beautiful reefs to dive, saw some new creatures which the guide showed us and he knew where to find them. Also saw mantas and mola mola. A lovely shore visit to the pink beach, with an excellent barbecue on another tiny island. The food was really excellent, although soft drinks were charged $2, which was a first for me on a liveaboard. On the downside - only one toilet and shower for guests to share, and the water ran out mid week (we were warned this may happen, so its probably a regular occurrence, in which case I wondered why the kitchen staff left taps running and sinks overflowing!). I chose this boat as it provided Nitrox, but there was none, and the hired kit was in poor state (neither dump valve worked on my BCD, zips broken on wetsuits). Polish was the main language, so I was slightly marginalised being English - but maybe this is the same on any liveaboard where there is a group booking. Overall good; you get what you pay for so if you want economy and are prepared to queue for the toilet or shower, the staff are committed to safe diving - and that's what I went for, not luxury.

Excellent dives and staff; Average boat

Excellent dive sites and saw turtles, sharks (plenty), mantas, eagle rays, all sorts of fishes ... Dive guides extremely knowledgeable and avoided many direct currents. Stayed for two consecutive trips in a fan room. Overall facilities especially dive elevator - save trouble of climbing back into boat after diving. Divers however need to take quick showers otherwise fresh water will be a concern.

Great experience

The crew is professional when it comes to diving and boat safety, but they were also a lot of fun to hang out with and are a friendly and easy going. We met great people on the boat from all over and had a wonderful experience diving and socializing with everyone. The dive sites we visited were absolutely amazing!!! Saw lots of turtles and manta rays!:) Dolphins were visible from the surface. The water was wonderful, boat accommodations were a bit small but clean and had everything we needed. Food was delicious. Do yourself a favour and book this dive safari with Empress II:)

Value for Money

Schedule for the dive safari is well mixed with others activities such as Hiking to the Stingless Jellyfish Lake and Raja Ampat Lookout point. Should include Kayaking activities in future schedule.
