Set sail on an Indonesian adventure aboard the Akomo Isseki liveaboard. A traditional hand-crafted wooden phinisi, she is crewed by the Bugis sailors of South Sulawesi and offers fantastic dive itineraries in Raja Ampat and Komodo National Park. Four naturally ventilated cabins with twin beds accommodate 8 guests on board. Shared bathrooms feature modern facilities and traditional handicrafts.
Social areas include the communal dining area and a large, partially covered sun deck. Enjoy a selection of freshly cooked Indonesian and Western meals, beach BBQs, freshly baked bread, treats, and hot coffee. Days can be spent lounging on the sun deck in between dives, kayaking, snorkeling, and island visits, and unwinding at the end of the day, enjoying an incredible sunset, the sea breeze, and a cold beer with your fellow dive buddies.
The Akomo Isseki phinisi visits dive destinations, including Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park, and the Banda-Ambon crossing. In Komodo, dive at Karang Makassar and get up close with schools of Manta Rays, enjoy a dusk dive at Palau Siaba to watch the beautiful Mandarin fish perform their mating dance ritual, and walk with Dragons on Komodo Island. Raja Ampat itineraries are offered from November to April and are a divers' paradise. Home to some of the most biodiverse diving in the world, marine life encounters can include wobbegong sharks, pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs galore, dugongs, manta rays, and humpback whales. For the more adventurous, the Spice Island Trail from Ambon to Waisai (or reverse) is not to be missed. Top value for money
If you're looking for a luxurious high-end vessel, you've come to the wrong place – but if you're looking for an authentic, familiar and affordable diving adventure, you'll love the Akomo Isseki. The traditional wooden vessel holds a maximum of 8 guests, which keeps the dive groups wonderfully small and exclusive – a huge advantage in the current-rich waters of Komodo! We particularly liked: • The crew & guides: Incredibly warm, in a good mood and with a perfect knowledge of the best dive sites. • The atmosphere: The boat uses solar energy. At night, the generator stays off, so you can enjoy the starry sky in absolute silence. • The food: Fresh, varied and surprisingly good for a boat of this size. • Additional activities: Great shore excursions such as trekking to the Komodo dragons on Rinca Island or kayak tours round off the trip. Good to know (No criticism, but important): The cabins are simply furnished and have no air conditioning (but fans and natural ventilation) and shared bathrooms. However, for backpackers and uncomplicated divers, this charming boat is an absolute hit with excellent value for money!

Marine Life Expedition of Eight Young Backpackers
There were 8 guests on board, and except for 2 people, everyone came individually. Since we were all around a similar age, it created a really great atmosphere. Everything was enjoyable, and the trip turned out to be more comfortable than I had expected. Even though 8 of us had to share just 2 bathrooms, it worked out quite smoothly and comfortably. All the meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—were truly delicious, and even the snacks were great, which made the whole trip very satisfying.

Great diving experience and exceptional quality of service
Terrific diving in Komodo! The guides know the sites inside out and the dives are planned according to the currents and changing conditions. The overall atmosphere on the boat is very relaxed while being very professional. The crew of the boat is super friendly and everything is done so that we make the most of our dives!! I had an amazing week!

Awesome diving week!
The dive sites are really good, we saw so many sea animals and the guides were very experienced in planning the dives so we got wonderful diving experiences (schedule, considerations about other diver groups on-site, they know the dive sites well).

Amazing Liveaboard with the best Crew
It was an absolute fantastic week on Akomo Isseki. The boat is perfect, nice comfortable cabins, ideal size for 8 guests. The dive guides were very engaged and showed us the most amazing dive sites and we felt all the time very save. The whole crew was very welcoming and made us smiling every day. The food was excellent with a great variety and many options to choose from.

The Komodo liveaboard was incredible, from world class diving, and exceptional and friendly crew, varied meals and knowledgeable and engaging dive guides there was nothing not to love! Definitely good value for money, not for those expecting comfort but everything you need. Can’t wait to come back!
