A traditional hand-crafted wooden phinisi, she is crewed by the Bugis sailors of South Sulawesi and offers fantastic dive itineraries in Raja Ampat and Komodo National Park. Four naturally ventilated cabins with twin beds accommodate 8 guests on board. Shared bathrooms feature modern facilities and traditional handicrafts.

Social areas include the communal dining area and a large, partially covered sun deck. Desperate to book our next trip with Akomo Isseki!
If you're on the fence, do it!! Overall this liveaboard exceeded all expectations! The crew and dive guide looked after us so well. Alex (DG) was very knowledgeable and did a great job teaching us the ropes with current and spotting all sorts of things! The rest of the crew went above and beyond every step of the way. We had so much fun! It is also amazing value for money - we are all planning when we will be back for Banda! Definitely recommend Akomo Isseki!

Akomo Isseki is not a luxurious liveaboard, but very traditional and charming in full harmony with the nature of Raja Ampat and most importantly well equipped for pleasant diving.
Diving at Nudi Rock (Misool) - best dive ever! Sunrise and sunset on the sea level from the Akomo Isseki deck - unique natural tranquility. Good atmosphere on board between guests and crew - we laughed a lot and had fun. Great local food prepared in such a small kitchen - impressive and so tasty!

The Akomo Isseki crew took us to the edge of the civilisation, a stepback in time - in particular when exploring Misool in the South of Rajat Ampat with its fantastic coral reefs and rich marine life. The whole crew was so friendly, professional and always eager to please us - above and under water (big compliment!!!)). In addition to great diving experiences the crew offered special team events, e.g. barbeque evening and volleyball on lonely beaches, kayak and boat trips through the mangroves, hiking to viewing platforms.

Amazing Liveaboard with the best Crew
It was an absolute fantastic week on Akomo Isseki. The boat is perfect, nice comfortable cabins, ideal size for 8 guests. Marine Life Expedition of Eight Young Backpackers
There were 8 guests on board, and except for 2 people, everyone came individually. Since we were all around a similar age, it created a really great atmosphere. Everything was enjoyable, and the trip turned out to be more comfortable than I had expected. Even though 8 of us had to share just 2 bathrooms, it worked out quite smoothly and comfortably. All the meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—were truly delicious, and even the snacks were great, which made the whole trip very satisfying.

Amazing livaboard to explore Komodo, you won't regret booking this boat!
I had the most amazing time on Akomo Isseki. The diving itself is absolutely incredible with beautiful coral and lots of cool things to see. Our crew were just amazing, our freshly prepared food was a huge highlight with lots of variety, fruit, vegetables etc to cater to every taste. Apart from that we were immediately welcomed like family and everyone always had a smile on their face which provided a fantastic atmosphere. Alex is an incredible dive master who helped guide us through the currents as most of us weren't used to dealing with them - he is also super funny and always made us feel safe! The boat itself was really comfortable and has all the basics you need (it did get a little hot sometimes at night but fans were enough for me.) Overall, I can't fault this trip, I was sad to leave all the amazing people I met and all the fishies I saw and would come back again in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone for a trip of a lifetime!!

Already planning a return trip!
The experience was great in all possible ways. The crew was incredibly attentive and kind, the dive guides very knowledgeable (and hilarious) and the cook made some incredible meals (personal highlights were some of the tempeh dishes). Everyone made me feel safe and supported. The quality of the liveaboard is only confirmed by the fantastic people that joined the trip.

Excellent liveaboard for diving in Komodo
We spent 8 wonderful days of diving in the Komodo archipelago. We were very well received by a top crew. The meals were varied and plentiful. We lacked nothing. Alex is an amazing guide who knows the archipelago like the back of his hand and that's very important here in Komodo. He was very well supported by Faldi. The dives are magnificent and still require a little experience, especially when it comes to managing the currents.

Good boat to experience Raja Ampat
We did the 11 days / 10 nights trip to Misool and Dampier in February. The diving in Misool was nice but not extraordinary. Maybe our expectations were too high. However, the days in Dampier made up for it. Some of the best dives in our lives, huge schools of fish and countless oceanic mantas. What we really liked is that Alex, the main dive guide, seems to know some unknown dive spots that no other boat is going to. You therefore experience sites that are totally untouched. Thank you so much for that Alex! The boat itself is basic and the rooms get really hot, but it is okay for a liveaboard. The mini fans in the room are really noisy, so you have to choose between the heat or the noise. The upper deck with its bean bags is a great place to chill between the dives or in the evening. There are 2 bathrooms on the boat and you may need to be patient in the morning or after the dives, but overall it works quite well. The crew is absolutely amazing and gives you great vibes during the entire stay. Their joy, dancing and general positive attitude is incredible. A special thank you to Ali who went snorkelling with my partner for a main part of the trip after she suffered decompression sickness on the third day. The food is also absolutely amazing and we couldn't have wished for anything more. We miss you Jois! Apart from the diving there are also a couple of land trips that were really nice: Love Lagoon in Misool, Piaynemo in Fam and a nice beach near Waisai for the last night and a BBQ. The only thing that I didn't really appreciate during our trip was the communication with the dive guides that was not always the best. They seem to have quite different dive styles, which is totally fine but most of the time the main guide was doing the briefing and the other guide did a slightly different dive to the briefing, which I was unaware of until the second or third last day when he told me that he sometimes does things differently than the main guide. Well, why didn't we talk about this in the beginning rather than the end of the trip and why were there not 2 different briefings then? Also, it was agreed that each group should dive half of the trip with each dive guide. However, one day after switching the guides, they swapped it back because the other group felt unsafe with the second guide. We were informed by this during the briefing of the next dive... Well, not that much of a problem for me (even though I enjoyed the diving with the main guide more but I did not want to interfere if the other group felt unsafe and we already had a decompression before as mentionned above) but again, some communication here would have been really appreciated. Overall we had a good time and I'm glad that we did the Raja Ampat experience on Akomo Isseki, but it could easily be made even more enjoyable in my opinion.

Loved every bit of the trip
Raja Ampat is just amazing and the diving can be everything from calm and relaxing in colourful colour gardens to watching sharks and rays in ripping currents. The food was very high standard and every meal was different and a lot to choose from. The crew is always smiling, does an incredible job every day and is very welcoming. Cruise Director and dive guides knowledgeable, care a lot for the reef and all the marine life and of course also for the guests. I always felt safe and well briefed and guided. Big thank you for 10 amazing days!

Fantastic diving with a warm crew
The trip on the Akomo Isseki was a dream experience for me and my family. You don't have to say many words about diving on Komodo. Fantastic and completely intact coral reefs - hopefully it stays that way!The Akomo Isseki is a very nice wooden boat. But the best thing was definitely the crew, who did everything to make you feel comfortable at all times. From the captain to the bottle filler to the cook, everyone was always in a good mood and made sure that nothing was missing. Respect - it was really fun. The boat is not too big, which quickly led to a very family atmosphere. The opposite of mass processing, The highlight of the ship were definitely the two dive guides Alex and Faldy. Absolutely professional. No matter what current: behind these guys you always felt safe, because you could feel that you know the area like the back of your hand. In addition, the two were really funny, warm and mega sympathetic. I've been diving for 30 years and have rarely seen such cool dive guides. Thank you Alex and Faldy. See you again sometime on the Akomon Isseki in Raja Ampat.

Great liveaboard in Komodo
We had a really special trip in Komodo with Akomo Isseki. The boat is small and intimate (only 8 guests), which creates a fun and intimate atmosphere among guests and with the crew. The crew was absolutely outstanding—helpful, cheerful, professional, and incredibly dedicated to making our trip special. They organized a birthday celebration, taught us Indonesian dance, and arranged an elaborate sunset BBQ and party on the beach. Chef Dirman and Jojo prepared awesome food, with predominantly Indonesian cuisine, lots of variety, healthy options - and the post-dive banana snacks were a perfect touch. The diving itself was fantastic, featuring healthy reefs, tons of life both big and small, and a great mix of relaxing and adrenaline-filled dives. Our dive guides Alex and Faldi know Komodo like the back of their hands, and truly showcased the best of the area, ensuring we had fun and stayed safe no matter the conditions.

We recently embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime trip aboard the Akomo Isseki dive liveaboard to Komodo, and it exceeded all our expectations. Our family group, including two teenagers, had an unforgettable experience, thanks in large part to our amazing dive guide, Alex. His extensive experience and attentive care ensured that everyone felt safe and comfortable, even in the most challenging dives. The diving in Komodo was among the best we've ever done, easily on par with Raja Ampat. The vibrant marine life and stunning underwater landscapes were truly breathtaking. The boat crew was extremely experienced and professional, keeping us safe even with high wind and rough seas. The food on board was fantastic, with a variety of delicious options that satisfied everyone in our group. The atmosphere was always lively and welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy every moment. The boat itself is ‘basic’ in its amenities, with fan cooled rooms and shared bathrooms, but kept in pristine shape and is extremely comfortable with lovely shared spaces (great sun deck & dining area) so that we didn’t miss any luxuries at all. We would love to come back to make it a twice in a life time adventure 😃

Super, great value for money..
Keeping in mind this boat has no air conditioning we enjoyed the cabins dorm style with the hatches open and the ventilator providing a gentle breeze I slept well dressed in a very light short and top with no sheet or blanket. When it rained at night the hatches had to be closed. Divesites were nice with a lot of fish and really nice schools on the nothern reefs. Dives have to be timed close to tidal slack or current can be med to strong. Highlite albino manta. We had 3 manta encounter 1 oceanic. 2 reef 1black 1 chevron. 1 albino 5m+.🤩

We spent 10 days and 11 nights aboard the Akomo Isseki, and the entire experience was unforgettable. The boat is a traditional Indonesian Phinisi, full of charm and character. It’s not a luxury yacht, but that’s exactly what made it so special—we genuinely enjoyed the experience of living simply, in rhythm with the sea, and surrounded by the raw beauty of Raja Ampat. The cabins are thoughtfully designed for two people, each bed equipped with two individual fans and just enough storage to stow your gear. Life onboard is relaxed and communal. The top deck, dotted with beanbags, quickly became our favorite place to chill between dives, watch the sunset, or just soak in the moment. The food was another major highlight. Meals were served three times a day—breakfast after the first dive, lunch after the second, and dinner in the evening. And every single day, Dirman spoiled us with a freshly made snack between lunch and dinner—banana fritters, warm donuts, or something equally delicious. It became something we all looked forward to, and he never repeated the same treat twice. Mornings started with fruit, pancakes, eggs, and rice, and lunches and dinners featured a great variety of Indonesian specialties, with lots of fresh fish that everyone really enjoyed. Tea and biscuits were always available, which made surface intervals even better. The crew brought the whole experience to life. We were extremely impressed by how on top of everything they were. If it started raining—even lightly—they’d rush to move our towels or laundry under cover without needing to be asked. In the middle of the night, if just a few drops began falling, someone would quietly go around and close the hatches over our beds to keep us dry and undisturbed. All those small touches showed how attentive and tuned-in they were, and it made a huge difference in making us feel looked after. We were in Raja Ampat in April, toward the end of the season, so visibility in the south wasn’t ideal. After discussing it with the dive guides (Alex and Safri) and other guests, we all agreed to shift course and head back up to Central Raja a little earlier. We really appreciated being included in that decision—it added to the feeling that this trip was shaped by and for the people onboard. The dive guides, Alex and Safri, were knowledgeable and attentive, always focused on making each dive safe and enjoyable. Whether we needed help with gear, guidance, or just a laugh, the crew was always there—smiling, professional, and ready to help. If you’re looking for an authentic, affordable Raja Ampat liveaboard experience, with a fantastic crew, incredible food, and great dive guides, I couldn’t recommend Akomo Isseki more.

Alex and Jardin have many years of experience and share their passion for diving with great enthusiasm. The whole group was introduced to how to deal with currents - tailored to their needs. Compliments for the timing, we were often the only divers underwater and that in high season. Culinarily, we were spoiled by the kitchen crew at every meal. The only thing we would have liked would have been air conditioning - but with open hatches and fan sleeping was also possible.
