A Decent Trip

This was my fifth liveaboard but my first Aggressor. I wanted to see if the name lived up to the hype. Unfortunately it did not, but other people on the boat that had done Aggressors in Raja Ampat and Roatan also agreed that this particular Aggressor was not as epic and grand as previous ones. So I’m not disparaging the Aggressor name, I’d be willing to try again with their company, however, this trip had a few hiccups. Something was wrong with the paperwork between coast guard and the navy and we spent 4 of the 7 nights at Port Ghalib. We originally were supposed to spend 2 nights there (the first and last night of the charter) but the two extra nights were unplanned. We still did 21 dives but we did 10 of those dives close to the port instead of in the marine park. We lost a full day at Daedalus, but luckily we saw hammerheads in the one day we were there. I get that paperwork with the Navy might be beyond their control, but what annoyed me was the lack of information us divers were given. The time board was never updated. Everyone was on pins and needles, never sure when the dive bell would ring. Never sure when it was time to wake up or when a meal would be. There was no schedule and it seemed like the cruise director was just winging it. They did give us Nitrox free for the week so a $100 savings a person. I left happy. I’ll try aggressor again, but this particular trip was not very organized. I’m a vegetarian and the food was alright. No complaints there. We had the upper deck statesroom and it was amazing. It was the size of two regular rooms. Dives were an hour long and they broke the groups up by experienced divers so I did not feel weighed down by the deco Debbies that didn’t know how to read their dive computers.

The upper deck stateroom cabin. Hammerheads and mantas. Unguided dives.

Very professional, with an especially large and nice yacht, excellent safe diving, and great staff!

This was a great liveaboard trip on a large and modern yacht with great diving. We saw an octopus and a cuttlefish on our check-out dive! Later in the trip, we saw at least ten turtles, one hammerhead shark, one manta ray, and a few other sharks, as well as countless fish and nudibranchs. The coral was very healthy in some locations. Diving at Daedalus Reef was especially beautiful, though the crossings over and back were pretty rough overnight (take anti-nausea medicine). The crew took great care of us, which is not easy when there are 26 divers on board.

Wonderful and safe diving despite high winds. Very large yacht: many nice common areas, and our room's shower was huge!. Hard-working, competent, and kind staff on the dive deck and in the restaurant.

Wonderful diving, great culture

This is a wonderful area of the world, both for the diving and the culture. Every avid diver should make it to the Red Sea and Egypt at least once.

The crew was friendly and helpful.. I went as a solo diver. While there were some small groups, the nationality of the other divers varied greatly. I really enjoyed getting to know them!. The reefs were amazing. With the exception of the checkout dive site, the reefs were healthy, colorful, and filled with small fish. We were a bit early in the season for the larger fish the area is know for, though..
