Highlights
The Discovery I liveaboard offers year-round Red Sea dive safaris. She was built with divers' needs in mind and has 10 double and twin cabins comfortably accommodating up to 20 guests onboard. There are 6 twin cabins on the lower deck and 4 double or twin cabins on the upper deck, all featuring air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms, and storage space. The main indoor salon and dining room, located on the main deck, are modern and bright, with comfortable seating for all guests. On the upper deck is a bar and outdoor lounge, perfect for enjoying the sea breeze and a drink at the end of the day, and a spacious sundeck with mattresses for sunbathing or relaxing in between dives.
The Discovery I liveaboard offers a variety of 7-night itineraries that allow divers to explore some of the best dive sites in the Red Sea, including the Deep South and Elphinstone route and the Northern Red Sea, Wrecks, and Ras Mohammed. A spacious dive deck and swim platform are located at the back of the boat, with ample space for gearing up. Two tenders are on hand for easy drop off and pick up at the dive sites. Nitrox is also available for those certified.

A great diving week in the North.
Great dive trip overall. Possibility to do 21 dives in 6 days. Great dive sites and extra efforts made to do something special - for example looking for hammerhead sharks, which we found. My group was overall advanced and coherent, so guided dives were very good. However, the other group was less equal and some divers were frustrated that some dives had to be finished early because some parts of the group ran out of air. All divers consuming a lot of air should be very strongly recommended to take 15l tanks. The quality of the boat and of the cabins was overall very good considering the very moderate price. All the crew made a lot of effort to make the trip special, including special settings for the dinner, birthday and anniversary celebrations, etc. The food was very good, better than expected. The only small hiccup was that in the itinerary it was said there could be a night dive at Thistlegorm, while during the trip it was said that such dives are not allowed, which is clearly not true. More honesty would be better that either the conditions are uncertain or that some divers lack the experience to do a night dive at such a (quite deep) wreck dive site. Nevertheless I would recommend this boat 100%.

I will definitely go on more liveaboards.
A very well organized and thoughtful liveaboard with a great crew and great dive sites. The food was very good and plentiful. The highlight was a 15-member Dolphin group swimming around us for minutes.

A great diving experience on the Red Sea
A great diving experience in the Red Sea with really good value for money. Everything was just right: The crew on the boat was super friendly, the food was always delicious and more than sufficient, and the equipment was in very good condition. The route was beautiful and the dive sites really impressive. In addition, there was a really nice group of divers. Overall, I had a really cool time and I would do the tour again anytime!

Mixed feelings
I was incredibly looking forward to this liveaboard tour with the Discovery 1 – and as far as life on board is concerned, I was not disappointed. No shoes for a week, the whole day in a bikini with a pareo – that's exactly how I had imagined it. The motto "Eat, Dive, Sleep, Repeat" describes this trip perfectly. The food was varied, plentiful and really delicious. The crew created a relaxed atmosphere, and within a few days we grew together as guests into a small family. It was precisely this sense of community that made the week so special for me. Unfortunately, we were less lucky under water. We only saw a few white tip sharks, otherwise the hoped-for wildlife failed to materialize. That's a pity, but nobody can do anything about it – nature just doesn't stick to our wishes. What I was not entirely happy with, however, was the organization of the dives. I found the division with two guides for 20 divers to be of little use. Beginners and very experienced divers were mixed without any recognizable structure. As a result, different levels of experience had to be constantly taken into account. I would have liked to see groups that were put together according to ability. Even with the guides, I sometimes had the feeling that the focus was more on finishing the dives quickly and coming back to the surface instead of taking time for the group or discovering the underwater world. Especially on a liveaboard where diving is the focus, I would have liked more commitment and peace and quiet. My conclusion: As a liveaboard, the Discovery 1 was great – great ship, excellent food, a wonderful atmosphere and a crew that makes you feel comfortable. However, the organization of the dives and the underwater guidance have potential for me to improve. Nevertheless, I take many beautiful memories home with me.

Looking forward to go again!
This was my first liveaboard experience, and I am after this trip already planning my next one. We were warmly welcomed aboard by the crew and we were well taken care of for the next 8 days. The briefings were very accurate and good, and the dives were excellent.
