Camping at sea
The first time on a sailing liveaboard boat. Space is quite limited but diving is still very good. Most of the dives are shallow, ideal for beginners. Dives can be a bit repetitive, deep dives worth but they are few in the week. Considering the price it is worth.

My favorite vacation I have taken so far.
I felt as though through the numerous dives that I became more skilled. I had never night dived before and it was very beautiful. Everyone is very kind and generous to help me with anything I needed. Adjustments were made for my dietary needs and every day was honestly amazing.

Best bang for your buck
Being able to do four dives a day was fun. The shark dive was very interesting, (my first). The dive at the Blue Hole with the sharks and rays laying in the sand left me wanting to do it again. Captain Breezy was great at keeping the trip interesting. The gold star goes to Jenn who kept us fed with great meals. Our dive master Justin, was very good with the dive briefings. And our first mate Iain and engineer Tamly kept everything working. If you don't mind camping on the water this cruise is for you.

Look no further for your next liveaboard!
I’ve never been on a liveaboard before and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The price seemed too good to be true for all that was promised in the description, and all of the reviews were glowing. But I was absolutely blown away by my week on Morning Star. (I’ve already booked my second trip!) The fact that our chef, Candela, was preparing food for 25 people in a 4x6 foot kitchen alone is impressive. It’s even more impressive that she did it at sea during fowl weather. But to top it off, her food was AMAZING! Better than any food I’ve had in any hotel or resort. The weather our week wasn’t the best, but you’d never know it due to the bright and cheerful personalities of all of the crew members! They made every rainy moment, every windy day on deck, feel like the best time to be alive. The deck hand, Michael, was especially good at keeping the vibes high. He could have the whole boat laughing their faces off with some of his stories. The first mate/captain for our week, Alex, had us all in awe with tales of his previous job as a “professional shark feeder.” It was so cool getting to hear so many different stories of how all the crew members found themselves at Blackbeard’s! Not only did the crew know how to keep guests entertained, they also were so down to earth and genuine about making connections with guests. I felt really lucky to have that experience, and to learn more about the people who make the trip so great. We only had 13 guests aboard our week, which made the whole experience feel all the more intimate and special. I was able to make so many connections with the other guests and the crew members. It was really cool actually seeing what all it takes to make the trip happen. Of course there’s the diving, but there’s also the preparation of the food, and keeping the boat clean, and the actual sailing of the boat. I knew nothing about sailing before the trip, but watching the crew do their thing, I was totally captivated. The crew was so talented and in their element, I felt so lucky to see them in action. The whole crew, including our captain, Tristan, was very accommodating to guest requests. A few of us guests mentioned that we’d like to try our hand at spearfishing, although we didn’t expect to get a chance since the days were short (December). But he made it happen for us on our last day, and while only the dive master, Josh, was able to spear some lionfish, we still had a blast and enjoyed some fresh ceviche! I really think back on my week aboard the Morning Star as one of the best experiences of my life. Blackbeard’s has definitely set the bar high, and I’m so excited to come back!!!

Really happy I did it! Great Fun!
My first scuba diving trip! The boat met my expectations and the crew worked hard to care for the divers and boat. Diving was great for this first timer. Dive master (Sera) was excellent working with me on my first dives after open water certification. As a sailor with my own boat I enjoyed the boating/navigation aspect of the trip as well.
