New Best of the Maldives Itinerary

Manta Rays in the Maldives
Manta Rays in the Maldives

How does diving with manta rays and whale sharks, sound? Exhilarating channel dives and thrilling drift diving? Dolphins surfing at the bow of the boat and BBQ's on pristine sandy beaches? Sound too good to be true?

Well, all this is fairly standard fare for a liveaboard trip to the Maldives, which is what makes this destination one of the top dive spots in the world! Emperor Serenity offer a 'Best of the Maldives' itinerary, and now also have 'Best of the Maldives' with a twist. There will be 2 x 7-night trips on offer in November, the first one travelling North from Male to Dharavandhoo Island, and the second travelling South from Dharavandhoo to Male. There is also the option to stay on the boat for the whole 2 weeks for a full-on diving fix!

So what makes these trips special?

Aside from picking the best atolls to dive at, these trips cover longer distances because the boat does not have to come back to the start destination at the end of the trip. This means more access to remote areas.

12-19th November: Male - Dharavandhoo - Leaving Male Serenity will head to the North Male Atoll to explore the area and of course a dive at the famous Lankan Manta Point. Known for having 3 or 4 cleaning stations, the mantas come in to hang out in large numbers for their daily scrub.

19-26th November: Dharavandhoo - Male - If you're on this trip you'll be treated to diving at the North Ari Atoll and the famous Maaya Thila night dive. Noted as possibly one of the best night dives in the world, Maaya Thila delivers an action-packed dive. With hunting grey reef and white tip sharks, trevally darting all over, hunting moray eels and sleeping turtles, there's always something going on! Following this will be a stop at South Ari Atoll which has the strongest chances of whale shark sightings.

With so much on offer, this really is a trip not to be missed, and non-divers are welcome and will receive free snorkeling equipment and a $50 voucher to spend onboard.

It's recommended that divers have a minimum of 30 logged dives and experience with drift diving, as currents can be strong.

This itinerary may vary depending on the moon phase, diving conditions and local regulations.
