The 38-cabin Wilderness Discoverer was built in 1992 and renovated in 2011. The open-plan lounge and dining room have a relaxed atmosphere, with the beautiful cedar wood bar a great place to get a drink and socialize with other guests. There are three decks, including a sun deck, from which you can admire the stunning scenery. The small ship cruise vessel carries an impressive assortment of adventure gear, such as kayaks, skiffs, paddleboards, and hiking poles. Do you still have the energy to burn? You can make full use of the onboard fitness equipment. Alternatively, if a little R&R is more in line with your desires, there are two onboard hot tubs. You can choose between four classes of cabins, each with a private bathroom, air conditioning, and a TV/DVD player. Each cabin also has a viewing window. See and hear more underwater action with the hydrophone and underwater camera.

This cruise was everything we hoped for and more!
Our overall experience was excellent! Seeing glaciers up close was amazing! Choosing a small boat experience was absolutely the way to go. We actually had the opportunity to get to know the other passengers, and made some wonderful friends.

Incredible experience. Loved the two days in Glacier Bay. That is why we picked this cruise.

- Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, from kitchen staff to guides, all were awesome. Loved the extracurricular activities. Could sit around on the boat if you wanted to, but plenty of things to do outside.. Loved the small boat experience, being able to get to places the floating hotels could not.

A trip that does not compare with any other amazing!!!
So many , the crew was so friendly helpful and knowledgeable. The excursions off ship were beautiful with a guide who educated us on the environment and the beauty we saw. The chef offer the most delicious cuisine and catered to our daughter’s dietary needs Thank you all for the most amazing time. We will see you again soon !!!!

Wonderful Crew and Scenery
The wildlife and scenery were stunning! Saw whales several times - once right next to the skiff. Sealions, seals, porpoise, sea otters, bald eagles, puffins, star fish, sea urchins, etc.

- Small group size. 60ish is a great size or get to know people and not have to wait too long for activities, food etc. very intimate.. Activities. Was concerned there wouldn’t be enough as we don’t kayak, but there was. The shore excursions were each so different it didn’t matter we did 3. Bushwhacking is very different to walking well defined trails. Being personally challenged was rewarding: bushwhacking (the 7 level of difficulty) and conquering Moody Knob and the polar plunge were personal highlights as we were bout doing them.. The crew. Amazing! So talented. So energetic. So going the extras mile, and more. Really appreciated all their knowledge and the evening talks..

Awesome.
This was a great vacation. The views were spectacular. The reason this boat was picked was that it was focused on wildlife and we really got to see many different forms of wildlife. The whales were spectacular as the orca and humpbacks were everywhere. The guides were very knowledgeable and I really enjoyed how they presented different aspects of Alaska. I would highly recommend this trip.
